Summing up histograms and misc.
Dear all! I have a few questions. I'm running Version 1.0.0 on Digital UNIX. My problem is as follows: I have hundreds of megabytes in images stored in a few hundred files, and I want to extract some basic characteristics about the images in these files. For a start, I need to find the density function of all the files combined. Since it's several hundred MBs, I haven't enough RAM to

build problem with 4.10.0
Hi I want to build samba-4.10.0 for SUSE openLeap 15.1. Config and make works fine but make install sucks: ./configure --prefix=/usr --localstatedir=/var --sysconfdir=/etc --libdir=/usr/lib64 --libexecdir=/usr/lib64 --with-cachedir=/var/lib/samba --with-lockdir=/var/lib/samba/lock --with-logfilebase=/var/log/samba --with-modulesdir=/usr/lib64/samba --disable-rpath --disable-rpath-install

proper use of Internal Timing
Hi All, Could anyone tell me the real use of "internal_ timing=yes" option on asterisk.conf file? I am using asterisk 1.4.22. As per my understanding if we don't have any TDM card installed with appropriate driver, we use internal_timing = yes to get the timing from ztdummy /ztDahdi. Is there any advantage on enabling "internal_timing=yes" even if we are proving timing

RFC: "loop connections"
I've just implemented a generalization of R's text connections, to also support reading/writing raw binary data. There is very little new code to speak of. For input connections, I wrote code to populate the old text connection buffer from a raw vector, and provided a new raw_read() method. For output connections, I wrote a raw_write() to append to a raw vector. On input, the mode

Updated rawConnection() patch
Here's an update of my rawConnection() implementation. In addition to providing a raw version of textConnection(), this fixes two existing issues with textConnection(): one is that the current textConnection() implementation carries around unprotected SEXP pointers, the other is a performance problem due to prolific copying of the output buffer as output is accumulated line by line. This new

R-4.3 version list.files function could not work correctly in chinese
Dear ???, I believe you that there's a problem with list.files() and file names in Chinese. There is no need for additional proof. Unfortunately, it's impossible to fix the problem unless its source is found: https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs-cn.html Can you give me more examples of file names, _as text_, that I could _copy and paste_ into my computer in order to

Query about emphasis
Hello List, Firstly, I was very impressed when I tried markdown 2.0 recently. Fantastic work all! I have a query about the treatment of emphasis. I realise that the horse has bolted, and changes to currently supported functionality are unlikely to attract support. However, there does seem (at least in my tiny mind) to be a mis-match between the following stated goal and the present

Linux 2.1.126 kernel smbfs SMBwrite 2x speed improvement
Hi GNU command 'cp' normally looks for the block size of the destination and then uses such buffer to copy the file. Unfortunately you are settings block size for smbfs filesystems as 512 and using 'cp' then wastefully generates a lot of small (for ethernet) packets. I was surprised that using 'cat a >/net/b' is almost TWICE as fast than the traditional 'cp a

Horrible write performance from XP to Samba
I noted an extremely poor performance when copying big files from a windows xp client to a samba share. The exact version of samba does not seem to matter: I tried several different samba servers with versions between 3.014 and 3.0.23b running on Linux 2.4.32 and 2.6.17 (machines and network otherwise idle, clients connected via fast ethernet, servers via Gbit; network performance in both
