using by to plot
Hello,
I would like to use by to create a series of plots, but I'm not sure how
to design the function.
Here's what I've got:
1. A data frame of observations of measured value 2 measured vlaues and a
pch code.
V1 V2 pchCode
.0045 123 1
.0034 145 2
.0045 123 1
.0046 167 3

So what I want to do is create a single scatterplot of the multiple
conditions (specified by

R Processing dataframe by group - equivalent to SAS by group processing with a first. and retain statments
I am an old, long time SAS programmer. I need to produce R code that processes a dataframe in a manner that is equivalent to that produced by using a by statement in SAS and an if first.day statement and a retain statement:
I want to take data (olddata) that looks like this

Identify first row of each ID within a data frame, create a variable first =1 for the first row and first=0 of all other rows
Dear R help folks,
First my apologizes for sending several related questions to the list server. I am trying to learn how to manipulate data in R . . . and am having difficulty getting my program to work. I greatly appreciate the help and support list member give!
I am trying to write a program that will run through a data frame organized by ID and for the first line of each new group of data

dialplan woes
I am making some changes to the dial plan at the request of the company
president and have run into some problems. I have a couple of layers of
menu's and I am not sure how to handle them.
Here is how it should work (sorry for the crappy diagram)

R Processing dataframe by group - equivalent to SAS by group processing with a first. and retain statments
Check out the dplyr package, specifically the mutate function.
# Create new column based on existing column value
df <- df %>% mutate(FirstDay = if(ID = 2, 5))
df
Repeat as needed to capture all of the day/firstday combinations you want to account for.
Like everything else in R, there are probably at least a dozen other ways to do this, between base R and all of the library packages

Mixed Conditional Logit with nested data
Hello Everyone,
This is my first attempt to do something in R. As a precursor to a Willingness to Pay analysis, I want to conduct a Mixed Conditional Logit analysis but am unsure how to proceed because of some nesting within my data.
Below is some data and code that illustrate what I’m trying to do. The data are based on responses to a conjoint survey obtained during pilot testing. In the

Frequency plot --- stacked symbols
Hi,
We were wondering how we could make a stacked frequency diagram such as this one:
http://msemac.redwoods.edu/~darnold/math15/liz.pdf
We don't necessarily need the shaded "balls", other characters would be fine, such as stacks of x's.

range
I'm just beginning with R, and i've got a little problem, I would like
to have my own xrange and yrange on the graph when I plot a matrix, and
not the one R creates automatically.
Thank you for your help

low frequency content
Hello,
We are trying to figure out how to preserve the low-frequency content when
we try to convert a .wav file to an .opus file. What settings in Opus that
can accomplish this?
Sincerely,

Four concurrent Markov chains
Hi,
I am trying to write a simulation of the movements of four animals between
six patches. The movement between patches is based on a first-order Markov
chain so that the next patch they visit depends on the patch they were in
before.
I have written code that allows me to simulate the movement of one animal
but when I add more there seems to be a problem and all chains come back as
N/A. I can

Identify first row of each ID within a data frame, create a variable first =1 for the first row and first=0 of all other rows
Rui:
"f these two, diff is faster. But of all the solutions posted so far,
Ben Bolker's is the fastest."
But the explicit version of diff is still considerably faster:

Unit: microseconds

RGL plot : lighting problem when triangle3d and persp3d are used in the same plot
Dear all,
I have tried to plot a triangular matrix with the function persp3d(rgl).
for example
z=rbind(c(1,NA,NA,NA),c(5,3,NA,NA),c(4,2,9,NA),c(8,6,5,11))
x=1:4
y=1:4
persp3d(x,y,z,color="gray")
The two extreme points are not plotted (value=1 and value=10). It seems
because the half of the matrix have 'NA' and perp3d need planar
quadrilateral face. So I decided to use the

wishlist item: symbols() to accept asp argument? (PR#5328)
Here is a potential wishlist item for adding an argument (asp) to
symbols(). The following code produces a postscript file with two
pages; both should show a circle of radius 2 units. Horizonal and
vertical arrows are drawn to check that the circle is of the correct
radius; in the first plot, the circle is wrong. To fix this, I found
that I needed to first set up the plot bounds, using xlim,

call queue help
Guys I am having some serious issues with my call queue and Management
is breathing down my neck pretty bad, and I am running out of ideas.
I have a single queue for my tech support department. I originally was
using the AgentCallbackLogin for them and it tested out great on our
testing weekends, but it hasn't worked out since. It would only let one
of them take calls at a time, no matter
