OT: Online TTS engines?
The one I like:
http://www.rhetorical.com/cgi-bin/demo.cgi
is toast. I think they went broke or got aquired by someone. Also, is there
a Festival voice that sounds as good as Rhetorical or the AT & T stuff? The
default one is barely legible. Since Festival is a little brutal to
configure, I'd like to get someone's recommendation then go through the pain
of reconfiguring it only once.

Integration with external ASR engines
Hello,
Question for developers: what is the asterisk way to integrate with ASR
(speech recognition)?
Question to the community: has someone done anything in this direction?
On the first glance that shouldn't be too hard. One part is delivering audio
to the engine (for example,
main ASR players Nuance and Speechworks will be happy with RTP) - can be
done via RTP forking.
The other part is

Speech Recognition
Does anyone know of a speech recognition module (like say yes or no, or
numbers) I guess due to the complexity of speech recognition it might just
be found in commercial applications or am I wrong like always?

Poll - Would you pay $30-$50 for high quality speech synthesis?
Many of you are familiar with how lousy Festival sounds.
AT&T has a product, NaturalVoices, that sounds much better. There are
male & female voice fonts for US/UK/Indian English, French, Spanish,
and German.
I am considering offering a linux-based text-to-speech engine based on
the NaturalVoices runtime. An asterisk module would also be provided,
making it easy to add natural sounding

* and scansoft TTS
Hi list,
Looking for a good TTS with french voice, only scansoft's realspeak
seems to fill the bill (though at a high price), but I'm having a hard
time trying to find technical details.
More than one year ago there was a discussion about * and high quality
speech synthesis, and people indeed mentionned scansoft products. So I'd
like to know if people actually have working

Directory Permissons showing partial read-only on Windows XP
To whom it may concern,
I've spent the last couple of hours searching the internet looking for an answer to a Samba question and have come up dry. Here's the problem I'm facing.
When a drive is mapped on a RH Linux 9.0 server with the latest Samba update from RH, I can right click on the directory and it shows a partial read-only on all directories regardless. I need Samba to show

Device Drivers in xen, looking also for a white book about how xen works exactly
Hello,
I'm reading an excellent documentation about virtualisation in embedded system.
(available on open kernel labs site)
I have read these things : (It talks about managing drivers in a virtualization system)
"A straight virtualization approach can accomodate this by running the device the device driver inside the VMM. This requires porting all drivers to the hypervisor

(Thin)LTO llvm build
So, when I embark on the next ThinLTO try build, probably this Sunday,
should I append -Wl,-plugin-opt,jobs=NUM_PHYS_CORES to LDFLAGS
and run ninja without -j or -jNUM_PHYS_CORES?

SSH Remote Execution - su?
Greetings All-
I'm about to embark on some remote management testing and need a way to login to a remote system running CentOS 4.x/5.x via SSH, su to root (using a password), then execute a command.
I currently login to the boxes using key based SSH like this:
ssh -i ~/remote_key admin@$REMOTEIP
Then, I SU to root. However, if I try to do this automatically like this:

Take Rails Studio Workshop?
In two weeks, Dave Thomas will be in Pasadena doing a three-day Rails
workshop. I''m about to sign up for it. I figure three intense days
with Dave and a few dozen other Rails developers will produce huge
learning leaps for me.
Then it occurred to me that it might be useful to ask the list if
anyone has attended one of these workshops before and, if so, how
valuable you found

Scripts from The Elements of Statistical Learning book
Anyone know if it is possible to get the R scripts used in the "The Elements
of
Statistical Learning" book? It is a great book but sometimes some help would
be useful to replicate the results presented in the book and so, understood
things better.
Thanks
