Cross correlation in time series
Hi list,
I'm working on time series of (bio)physical data explaining (or not) the
net ecosystem exchange of a system (+_ CO2 in versus CO2 out balance).
I decomposed the time series of the various explaining variable
according to scale (wavelet decomposition). With the coefficients I got
from the wavelet decomposition I applied a (multiple) regression, giving
some expected results. The net

Beginners question
Dear list,
I've been messing around with coding functions in R and it just won't make
sense to me.
Running my analysis by hand on command line is fine and works but because
of the repetitive nature of the job I would like to code a function for it.
My problem:
I would like to read in data from a file in my current working dir.
so my code would look like:

Iterative Proportional Fitting, use
Hi list,
I would like to normalize a matrix (two actually for comparison) using
iterative proportional fitting.
Using ipf() would be the easiest way to do this, however I can't get my
head around the use of the function. More specifically, the margins
settings...
for a matrix:
mat <- matrix(c(65,4,22,24,6,81,5,8,0,11,85,19,4,7,3,90),4,4)

spatial statistics on images, any packages?
Hi list,
Is there a package that covers the evaluation of spatial statistics on
images and not on point data? I've converted an image matrix to x, y
coordinates and a measurement value but evaluation with the package
spdep (not really designed for image data I suppose) is unworkable. Any
suggestions?

non-linear curve fitting
Hi list,
I have a little curve fitting problem.
I would like to fit a sigmoid curve to my data using the following equation:
f(x) = 1/(1 + exp(-(x-c)*b)) (or any other form for that matter)
Where x is the distance/location within the dataframe, c is the shift of the curve across the dataframe and b is the steepness of the curve.
I've been playing with glm() and glm.fit() but without

assign() problem
I've written a piece of code (see below) to do a wavelet image
decomposition, during the evaluation of this code I would like to write
the results of some calculations back to the R root directory. I used
assign() to do so because the names should vary when going thrue a
while() loop. For some unknown reason I get an error that says:
Error in assign(varname[i], imwrImage) :

Multiple groupedData plots in a postscript file using a loop
Hallo!
I want to plot multiple grouped data in a postscript
file using a loop. As I use a loop no plot (or just
one empty plot) is generated. Here an example:
library(nlme)
data(Loblolly) # example data from nlme
postscript("PSFile.ps")
for (i in 1:1) # just as example
{
plot(Loblolly)
}
dev.off()
Result: Just an empty PSFile.ps.
(Withoput the loop it works.
May anybody help?

[LLVMdev] Using LLVM as a crosscompiler
Hello, Koen.

Well, just supply appropriate --host/--target options to configure.
I haven't tried ARM, but this definitely works for crosscompiling from
linux to mingw32. Please also note, that you'll need native (=arm) tools
(binutils, libcheaders, etc) during gcc build

Which antivirus for a Samba (Debian) fileserver?
I'm looking for an antivirus program for a Samba fileserver (PDC).
Is ClamAV good enough? It seems to be mainly used for mail servers...
Any other suggestion, free or non-free?
I tried F-secure antivirus for linux servers but it keeps giving problems.
All clients use F-secure which i centrally manage from another linux
server which is pretty good imo.
I read other people suggesting to use

[LLVMdev] Using LLVM as a crosscompiler
Hi Koen,
The process to build llvm-gcc as a crosscompiler is basically the same
as build a normal gcc as crosscompiler. The differences: you need a
LLVM installed (compiled for the host). You must configure llvm-gcc
with --enable-llvm.
Problems:
- Today LLVM supports ARM/EABI, but llvm-gcc don't. You must apply the patch:

Netlogon no longer works in 2.2.6 with W2k client
Hi,
We've got a fairly simple samba setup (no ldap/winbind etc) and until
recently everything worked fine (using samba-2.2.5). But after switching
to samba-2.2.6 w2k-clients fail to run the netlogon-scripts. When i look
at the client it says: logonserver=\\<workstationname>
BTW. The output of "nmblookup -S CPB" (to me) seems to say that CPB is
the logonserver.

[PATCH v3] xfstests: btrfs/316: cross-subvolume sparse copy
This testscript creates reflinks to files on different subvolumes, overwrites the original files and reflinks, and moves reflinked files between subvolumes.
Originally submitted as testcase 302, changes are made based on comments from Eric: http://oss.sgi.com/archives/xfs/2013-03/msg00231.html
Two new common/rc functions used in this script (_require_cp_reflink and _verify_reflink) have been

Triggering processes through Samba
Hi,
I need to upload data from a barcode scanner into a Progress database
on UNIX. The barcode reader is attached to a PC. We have set it up in
this way that the barcode reader creates a file in a directory shared
by the PC and an HP box. A simple daemon on the HP scans the directory
and triggers a program to upload the data whenever it finds a file in
that directory.
I was wondering if

Alleged bug in Silk codec
Yes those instructions exist, although they're a bit slower than the basic
16x16->32 with 32-bit accumulation (SMLABB). So I'd be surprised if the
function with 64 bit accumulation would run as fast as the current code.
Don't know how much we care about 16-bit platforms. And accuracy should
not matter.
On the other hand, a 64-bit implementation is much cleaner/shorter, which
is

When the puppet master starts up, it changes something so that the puppet

[LLVMdev] Arm port
Hi,
- Cortex-A8 needs a specific instruction scheduler as dual issue forces
you to interleave some instructions to allow to run two instructions in
the same cycle for the best performance (Cortex-A9 is out-of-order so
dual issue is not an issue (!) for performance).
- Cortex-A8/A9 have several useful new instructions : for instance, bit
operations like bitfield insertion/extraction or having
