AWS and array of Model
Hi! I try to use a layered webservice and I want to get back an array of users; In the API I use: api_method :listUsers,:returns=>[[User]] in the service: def listUsers User.find(:all) end Result in soap mode: Don''t know how to cast TrueClass to Object Result in XML-RPC mode: You have a nil object when you didn''t expect it! You might have expected

DRY? Converting Boolean to Yes/No
I have a database column given as: t.column :change_address, :boolean The user interacts with this using a checkbox, but wants confirmations to read: Change address: Yes In an isolated case something like: @obj.change_address ? ''Yes'' : ''No'' Would work fine but this is peppered throughout scads of forms and boolean fields. The first step I took at DRYing

datatype problem when using ActiveRecord with Oracle
Hey, I have connected to the oracle db using ActiveRecord and am trying to retrieve tuples. I have one attribute that has datatype ''number(1)''. I found that ActiveRecord maps this attribute to boolean. So it gets a class of either FalseClass or TrueClass. I tried to find the source of the problem and I found oracle_adapter.rb (http://

Unicode Support for MS SQL Server
In order to coerce Rails 1.2.x into supporting Unicode values for an attribute in a model, I found I had to do the following: 1) Change the underlying column type from varchar to nvarchar. 2) Prepend any quoted values going into nvarchar columns with a capital-letter-N, e. g. ''unicode'' becomes N''unicode'' In order to accomplish this, I modified

Webservices and submitting object with associations
Hi - is there an easy way to submit an object with its associations as an :expects parameter to a AWS webservice? I know I could first create a webservice method for the object, and then call - in a loop - another webservice for each of my association objects. Is there an easier more elegant way, so that I don''t have to make so many expensive webservice calls? I was thinking

slightly OT: opinions on best webservice implementation
We have been using more and more Ror for new applications. Right now we are debating on the best way to implement some new webservices that will interact with our payment gateway. These webservices will be backend type functions. Updating customer/billing records, retrieving data, etc.. The interface for actually processing transactions won''t be changing. Ideally, the webservice will

Question: Publishing R/S objects with WebServices (SOAP/WSDL)
Hello, Can anyone tell me if there is a package which will allow me to write a package in R, then publish the package using WebServices? The idea is that I want to be able to pass a data set into R, have R perform the calculations, then send the result back to either a .Net application or a LIMS BASIC application. So far I see many packages that allow R to consume WebServices, but I haven't

CENTOS 4 and mono
Hello, Im trying to configure my centos machine to run webservices. Im using the mono repo from www.*mono*-project.com, for rhel-4. After configuring every thing, it all seemed to work fine with a simple webservice for testing purposes. For that, a friendo of mine created a vb webservice on a windows machine and I copied the all resulting files(asmx, dll, etc). When I access the webservice via

soapenc:base64 and xsd:base64Binary
Hello guys, I have a little mix in all those webservices and wsdl files and all this things, and I have maybe a strange question. I''m trying to consume webservice from different webservice implementation than ror. And I there is one thing from ror regenerated wsdl file. Method parameter defined by :base64 type is defined in wsdl as ''soapenc:base64''. My question is, why

AWS and passing in a Model
Hi, I have a webservice. And I want to pass in, a model. So, for example: api_method :save_person, :expects => [Person] When I do this I get an error saying that I cannot have ActiveRecord objects as parameters. Fine. I can have AWS Structs as parameters. I don''t want to start ''maintaining'' a struct everytime I change the table structure od Persons. So, is

XMLRPC::DateTime from AWS
When I do an XMLRPC webservice call to retrieve a single Product, my DateTime fields in the products table do not get converted to a valid DateTime value, but remain as XMLRPC::DateTime structures. So, say my webservice call is: @product = @aws.get_product(1) Then my @product object looks like this: name: My product last_updated: #<XMLRPC::DateTime:0x37c5338> description: This is my

Arrays of objects as parameters to webservices
I think I am missing something terribly obvious. Is it possible to have an :expects parameter for a webservice that is an array of objects? I want to have a single webservice that expects all my line items (for an order). Is this something that is possible? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

XMLRPC WebService and Structs
Hi First off, I apologise if this is covered somewhere and I just don''t get it... I''ve looked far and wide .... As a part of my current project I need to hook up to a particular XMLRPC webservice that won''t be available for me to use until close to launch date... So I am trying to recreate the webservice that mirrors the live one so I can test my application
