Handling two lists of matrices
I'm having trouble setting up the function call to handle two lists of matrices. Each list has 6 matrices - Each matrix is 20x10. I need to do some basic math on corresponding matrices in each list. Here are some outputs of these lists, etc... # first list > length(qc.pm) [1] 6 > dim(qc.pm[[1]]) [1] 20 10 > qc.pm[[1]][1:4,1:4] 441-JP071707.CEL 442-JP071707.CEL

ads_connect: Program lacks support for encryption type
I'm trying to setup here at my school board an ADS domain member to Windows 2000 Server(s). I've setup Samba, configured nsswitch and /etc/krb5.conf. I'll be including them on this post. When I run << net join ADS -U<administrative_user>, I'm prompted for the password and I get this error message: [2006/01/12 15:21:35, 0] utils/net_ads.c:ads_startup(191)

computing functions with Euler's number (e^n)
I am trying to create a set of wavelets in frequency space--namely Cauchy wavelets for an intensity analysis (von Tscharner, 2000). The wavelets are defined by the following formula: [(f/cf)^(cf*scale)]*[e^((-f/cf)+1)^(cf*scale)] where *f *is frequency of length *n*, *cf* is center frequency (defined below) and is an array of *j *columns and *n* row, and scale is a constant. cf = (1/scale)*(j

Large data sets and memory management in R.
Hello R-users, First my settings: R-1.8.1, compiled as a 64bit application for a Solaris 5.8, 64 bit. The OS has 8Gb of RAM available and I am the sole user of the machine, hence pretty much all the 8Gb are available to R. I am pretty new to R and I am having a hard time to work with large data sets, which make up over 90% of the anlyses done here. The data set I imported in R, from S+, has a

Does anyone have comments on the new wording here? Suggested: The Title field should be in title case. Current version is: (xxx) In title case this would be: (Xxx) Hoping R core will see this here and magically adopt it, otherwise I'll try posting it to the r bugs site ... =================================================================== --- src/library/tools/R/QC.R (revision

RODBC missing values in integer columns
Hello, We are having some strange issues with RODBC related to integer columns. Whenever we do a sql query the data in a integer column is 150 actual data points then 150 0's then 150 actual data points then 150 0's. However, our database actually has numbers where the 0's are filled in. Furthermore, other datatypes do not have this problem: double and varchar are correct and do not

using lapply with recode
Hello: Forgive me, this is surely a simple question but I can't figure it out, having consulted the help archives and "Data Manipulation With R" (Spector). I have a list of 11 data frames with one common variable in each (prov). I'd like to use lapply to go through and recode one particular level of that common variable. I can get the recode to work, but it only returns the
