PDF viewer?
Hi,
I'm looking for a usable PDF viewer with CentOS 4.3. On my previous install
(Slack running XFCE with a handful of GNOME libs), I used Evince, which is just
great. Looks like this is an Achilles' heel in CentOS, as I tested three
available PDF viewers (ggv, gsview, acroread) with various PDF documents
downloaded from the internet (which all display perfectly with Evince): either

Printing from apps as a regular user...
Hi. I mostly use my system as a super-user and so I can mostly do
everything without worrying too much about permissions. Not too long
ago I created a "general" user account which is automatically logged in
after a few seconds for others to have (limited) access to the system.
Mostly everything works (ie. CD/DVD writing, sound, floppy access,
etc.) But when it comes to printing, only

is there something other than evince on centos 5.1 to view pdf's?
Every time I am remoted in using vncviewer and look at attached emails
it KILLS my X11 session.
If I am at my desktop it works fine.
xpdf used to work fine on 4.X - but it was removed in 5.X.
Is there an alternative?
Thanks,

Building R on Interix 6.0
Dear all,
I have been trying to build R-2.5.1 on the Interix-6.0 Unix subsystem
that ships with Vista and everything looks fine during the configure
except towards the end when "sed" throws an error:
sed: 1: ""s/\*/\\\*/g"": invalid command code "
A few lines later I then get:
./configure: : bad substitution
So I guess sed is trying to do something and

Wrong symbol rendering in plots (Ubuntu)
Hi I am having problems with the rendering of scientific symbols (mu and
degree) in my plots. Whenever I use these symbols they are rendered
changed (mu is changed to the proportionality symbol and degree is
changed to something resembling a gamma) in the X-device. If I make a
pdf of the plot and open the file in Evince or Okular symbols are also
rendered wrong, however if I open the file

Hi Shadi,
I'm also using notes 5.0.12 and I've posted at May,05-2005 a
message just talking about how to start Linux apps from a Windows app
over/under Wine. The only problem is that I'm not using wine-20050524 ...
8-(. Instead I'm using 20040813.
Follows the message. Feel free to ask me more questions and if you
want I can send to you another types of scripts.

Linux apps from inside Wine (was:Re: Problems with Lotus Notes R5.0.12 under Wine 20050524)
Hi Andreas,
I saw someone (Mike or Joachim, I think) at the list saying you
have to shutdown the wineserver. It will overwrite the system.reg as soon
it goes down. So before you make the changes be sure there is none wine*
process running.
Hope this helps. If not, write us again and we'll help you

Running R [Broadcast]
In the R-2.3.0 directory, what do you get if you type bin/R? Does R starts
up OK, or do you get an error? What were the last few lines of output from
running configure?

acrobat reader for x86_64?
Adobe doesn't seem to have acroread for x86_64 linux, or at least I don't
see it anywhere.
Anybody know otherwise?
Evince and other tools work pretty well, but I have always liked having
the "real thing" around for those occasions when they don't.

Problems with Lotus Notes R5.0.12 under Wine 20050524
Hello all,
I have installed R5.0.12 on Red Hat Fedora Core 3, using Wine 20050524. I'm
getting a lot of FIXME messages but everything seems to be working fine.
Except for the following things:
1) Attachments are working fine, except for launching the attachment to
open directly in OpenOffice.org or Adobe Reader ... Most likely that this
is a WINE issue rather than a Lotus Notes/Under Wine

R (statistics package) on CentOS-5 ?
Dear all,
the statistics package R (www.r-project.org) was available for CentOS-4, but I
need it for CentOS-5 (64bit). RPMforge has R-2.5.1 for CentOS-4, so I thought
I'd try to install that on CentOS-5.
However, yum complains about missing ggv, and the specfile indeed says that R
requires ggv, which is not in CentOS-5 (it has kghostview).
I could probably install with "rpm -Uvh

[LLVMdev] How to cast an integer array to an integer pointer? (user question)
I am new to LLVM and couldn't find any llvm-user list, so I am posting
my user question here, sorry.
I am trying to create a simple "puts" call accepting the static string,
with the code below.
The last line (CallInst::Create) fails with an assert: "Calling a
function with a bad signature!"
Because the type of function is void(u8*) and the argument supplied is:
