large fonts on plots
Hi all,
I need to enlarge te fonts used oo R-plots (plots, histograms, ...) in
labels and titles etc.
I seem to be unable to figure out how to do it. The problem is that the
titles of the plots are simply unreadable when I insert them into my LaTeX
text, since they are relatively small compared to the entire plot.
I am sure it is pretty simple, can anybody give me a hint ?

for-loop with multiple variables changing
Hi all,
Never really managed to build a for-loop with multiple running
variables in an elegant way.
Can anybody hint ?
See below for an example of what I would like.
EXAMPLE
a<-c(1,2,3)
b<-c("name1","name2","name3")
for( number in a, name in b ) {
print( number ) ##take a value
print( name ) ##and have its name available from a second list

"disregarded projections" warning when fitting lm model
Hi all,
I'm fitting a linear model (using lm) to some 2500 data points. The
model consists of 4 single terms and two combined terms. I get the
following warning message:
"Extra arguments projections are just disregarded. in: lm.fit(x, y,
offset = offset, singular.ok = singular.ok, ...) "
Can anybody clarify this ? I don't seem to find any pointer to what

data storage/cubes and pointers in R
Hi all,
I am faced with the situation where I want to store/analyze
relatively large, organized sets of numerical data, which depend on a
number of conditions (biological properties, exposure times,
concentrations etc etc). Imagine about a hundred dataframes of a few
thousand numerical values, with some annotation in text for some
entries.
Intuitively, I would like to be able to slice

proj() function for lm objects
Dear all,
I'm trying to find a clear explanation of what the 'proj(lm)' function
produces after having fit a linear model using 'lm'. I find the help
page on the proj() function highly unclear (surely part to my limited
knowledge of statistics). Can anybody provide a pointer to a clearer
explanation, preferable containing some examples of the calculations
involved ?

create a loop
Hi R Users,
I do have very big data sets and wanted to run some of the analyses many
times with randomization (1000 times).
I have done the analysis using an example data but it need to be done with
randomized data (1000 times). I am doing manually for 10000 times but
taking so much time, I wonder whether it is possible to perform the
analysis with creating a loop for many replicated datasets?

path autocompletion in 2.5.0
Hi,
R 2.5.0 isn't auto-completing paths properly as it used to. E.g.
suppose I have:
> dir("CEL/choe")
[1] "chipC-rep1.CEL" "chipC-rep2.CEL" "chipC-rep3.CEL" "chipS-rep1.CEL"
[5] "chipS-rep2.CEL" "chipS-rep3.CEL"
Now if I do:

Boxplot with full x-range
Hi all,
I'm new to R, and have the following problem:
I wish to draw a boxplot of simple data in two columns. The x-axis
(taken from first column) is grouped to intervals (using 'cut').
These intervals serve as x-value to the boxplot, and the data from the
second column are the y-values.
The problem is that I want to give an impression of the trend of the data
in the x-range.

tics and grids
Hi,
Whats the easiest way to set a desired interval for tics on axes in R ?
And will the 'grid' command put gridlines on all tics automatically ?
I tend to get stuck with graphs with ranges 0-1 with only 2 tics and 2
gridlines in the 0-1 range, while I would like 10 tics (or every 0.1)

Piet

grep help (character ommission)
Hello,
Banging my head against a wall here ... can anyone light the way to a
pattern modification that would make the following TRUE?
identical(

Thank you for your time.

Problem with the aggregate command
Dear friends,
I have a data set with 23 columns and 38000 rows. It is a panel running from the years 1991 through 2005. I want to aggregate the data and get the medians of each of the 23 columns for each of the years. In other words my output should be like this
Year Median
1991 123
1992 145
1993 132
etc.
The sample lines of code to do this operation is

help "reshaping" dataframe
List,
I want to reshape my data, but I'm not sure how to do it... it might be a
simple task, but don't know which package does this.
"occ.data" (see below) is how my original data are arranged, and I know
that with melt() I can reshape it like "y" (see below). However, I just
want to build a matrix like the "y" matrix, but with only 2 dimensions.

read.delim2 regarding "#"
Hello R experts:
When I tried to read my data into R, it does not take
# sign
A subset of Exp.txt is:
Experiment name assay id Varname
(A1)DBA TPA 6h/DBA Acetone rep1(A1) #3 4090 A90C1
(A2)DBA TPA 6h/DBA Acetone rep2(A2) #3 4091 A91C1
The command is:
Exp <- read.delim2("Exp.txt",check.names=F,as.is=T)
It is excuted but gave me all the NAs. Can you all
drop me a hint?
Thanks

stacking vectors of unequal length
R-users --
I would like to make a single vector out of something like the following:
y0 <- rep(0,100)
y1 <- rep(1,20)
and stack them one on top of the other to a vector y with length 120.
Thanks,
Dan

replicates in repeated ANOVA
Hi,
I have sort of a newbie question. I've seriously put a lot of effort into how to handle simple replicates in a repeated ANOVA design, but haven't had much luck.
I really liked reading "Notes on the use of R for psychology experiments and questionnaires", by Jonathan Baron and Yuelin Li ( http://www.psych.upenn.edu/~baron/rpsych/rpsych.html ) but still didn't run across

Mixed model for count data?
Hi all,
I have a rather peculiar dataset that I'm not sure how to model
properly. This is data from an instrument that measures the size of
particles but instead of giving a continuous value, it generates a
"histogram" of the counts for a particular bin size. So the data looks
like this:
Condition 1
Condition 2
Dimension Rep1.A Rep1.B
