Cross validation, one more time (hopefully the last)
I apologize for posting on this question again, but unfortunately, I don't have and can't get access to MASS for at least three weeks. I have found some code on the web however which implements the prediction error algorithm in cv.glm. http://www.bioconductor.org/workshops/NGFN03/modelsel-exercise.pdf Now I've tried to adapt it to my purposes, but since I'm not deeply familiar

cv.glm {boot}
I am try to cross validate some logistic regressions. cv.glm allows me to do this randomly but since I have data over a number of years and over a number of distince areas, I would like to cross-validate temporarly and spatially. I've already attached the temporal and spatial attributes to my data, but I'm unsure as to how to achieve this, as it seems I can't use cv.glm for this

Logistic regression goodness of fit tests
I was unsure of what suitable goodness-of-fit tests existed in R for logistic regression. After searching the R-help archive I found that using the Design models and resid, could be used to calculate this as follows: d <- datadist(mydataframe) options(datadist = 'd') fit <- lrm(response ~ predictor1 + predictor2..., data=mydataframe, x =T, y=T) resid(fit, 'gof'). I set up a

logistic model cross validation resolved
This post is NOT a question, but an answer. For readers please disregard all earlier posts by myself about this question. I'm posting for two reasons. First to say thanks, especially to Dimitris, for suggesting the use of errorest in the ipred library. Second, so that the solution to this problem is in the archives in case it gets asked again. If one wants to run a k-fold cross-validation

validations without AR - going crazy trying to find link
Hi, in the past few months someone posted an entry on their blog about how to do validations in non-AR classes and I cant find it any more. Anyone have a link? Thanks, Trevor -- Trevor Squires http://somethinglearned.com

Puppet and Cfengine Differences
Hello, I''ve recently begun looking at Puppet as an alternative to Cfengine and I have a couple of questions. 1) Besides the information posted on the Puppet website, are there any critical differences between Puppet and Cfengine? 2) Does Puppet allow for client-specific file text manipulation. For instance, in Cfengine I can add a line of text to a file if the line doesn''t

logistic regression model + Cross-Validation
Hi, I am trying to cross-validate a logistic regression model. I am using logistic regression model (lrm) of package Design. f <- lrm( cy ~ x1 + x2, x=TRUE, y=TRUE) val <- validate.lrm(f, method="cross", B=5) My class cy has values 0 and 1. "val" variable will give me indicators like slope and AUC. But, I also need the vector of predicted values of class variable

Split Validations?
I have a single table that two people enter data into. Person A creates the record and I need to specify certain required fields in his form. Person B has a separate form and she fills in additional fields and I need to specify that some of these are required. Since the data is all in one table and since the validations are in the model, won''t Rails complain when person A tries to

Removing circular dependant RPM files with Package.
Hello, I just attempted to remove both the ypbind and the yp-tools packages using the package parameter with yum. As it turns out, both of these packages depend on each other. Is there a way of forcing package removal and, if there is not, is there a way of making all packages to be removed be collapsed into the same yum command? Either of these solutions would solve the problem with the

Recursive permissions
Does anyone know if it''s possible to do the following: Given the directory structure: /foo/bar /foo/bar/<bunch of stuff> Is it possible to set /foo/bar to, say 555, and all stuff below to 440 or the directory equivalent? Thanks, Trevor

Error of Cross Validation
Dear R users: Recently, I tried to write a program to calculate cross-validated predicted value. My sources are as follows. However, the R reported an error. Could you please check the sources? Thanks. set.seed(100) x<-rnorm(100) y<-sample(rep(0:1,50),replace=T) dat<-data.frame(x,y) library(rms) fito<-lrm(y~x) preo<-predict(fito) pre<-matrix(NA,nrow=100,ncol=200) for (i in

cross-validation / sensitivity anaylsis for logistic regression model
Hi, I have developed a logistic regression model in the form of (factor_1~ numeric + factor_2) and would like to perform a cross-validation or some similar form of sensitivity analysis on this model. using cv.glm() from the boot package: # dataframe from which model was built in 'z' # model is called 'm_geo.lrm' # as suggested in the man page for a binomial model: cost <-

SEM validation: Cross-Validation vs. Bootstrapping
Hello All, Recently, I was asked to help out with an SEM cross-validation analysis. Initially, the project was based on "sample-splitting" where half of cases were randomly assigned to a training sample and half to a testing sample. Attempts to replicate a model developed in the training sample using the testing sample were not entirely successful. A number of parameter estimates were

Digest reading is tedious
Like many, I am sure, I get R-Help in digest form. Its easy enough to browse the subject lines, but then if an entry interests you, you have to embark on this tedious search or scroll to find it. It would be great to have a "clickable" digest, where the topics list is a set of pointers, and clicking on a topic takes you to that entry. I can think of at least one way to do this via

Cross-validation
Dear R-help, I was wondering if somebody has a strong opinion on the following matter: Would you see appropriate to apply the leave-one-out cross validation techinque in time series modelling? Thanks in advance, Tom __________________________________________________ [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

I can''t get rails to see my plugin. How can I this?
I''m trying to produce a plugin to help me with my page caching woes. I can''t seem to get rails to see my method within the plugin. This is my first attempt at a plugin so I''m sure I''m missing something. I''ve created a directory /vendor/lib/plugins/broom_stick/. I then created an init.rb file with: require ''broom_stick'' I then

masq - pings and connections get dropped after PREROUTING?
Hello, I have a pretty standard two-interface setup with masquerading, so the local network can connect through the firewall to the Internet. On the firewall box (trevor), eth0 is connected to a cable modem and eth1 is connected to the local network via a crossed cable. There is one other machine on the local network (brian), whose eth0 is at the other end of the crossed cable. I used to have
