Weights using Survreg
Dear R users,
I have been trying to understand what the Weights arguments is doing in the
estimation of the parameters when using the Surreg function.
I looked through the function's code but I am not sure if I got it or not.
For example, if I inclue the Surv function in it:
survreg(Surv(vector, status)~1,weights=vector2,dist="Weibull")
will it try to maximize the likelihood with

Sangoma FXO/FXS cards?
Saw an ad in the latest Linux Journal for Sangoma's FXO/FXS analog cards.
it was part of an ad for a reseller. I can't find anything on the
resellers site or Sangoma's site either. Did the ad jump the gun or
someting? Is this for real?

Bullet-proof FXO?
Been using a few different FXO interfaces (X100P, Voicetronix, and
SPA-3000) at a couple sites and they've all run into nasty issues at
times. I'm looking at moving one of my offices and am in the market for
a solution for connecting 4 FXOs. I got excited about recent offerings
from Digium and Sangoma in the way of new cards but I hear they're
causing troubles for more than a few.

SPA-3000 generating one-ring calls
This is a wierd one. Can't figure it out. I have an SPA-3000 at the
house handling my incoming line. It's setup to direct the incoming call
to asterisk. Works great 99% of the time.
A few times a day, I'm getting calls that ring once internally and are
then hungup. I managed to get a detailed log [1] of what's happening
today and it looks to me that the SPA is acting wierd.

Strange Inbound Ring Handling
Got a wierd one that's reminding me of a problem mentioned in an earlier
post but for the life of me, I can't find it. So...
Inbound calls via a Voicetronix interface on my Asterisk box are being
properly detected and routed to my dialplan as expected. It's a simple
plan right now that rings a few internal Voicetronix and SIP stations.
When the inbound line rings, it's ringing

Echo on SPA-3000 FXO
I've had an spa3k in service here at the house for a while now. After
some initial wrangling, it's been working okay. I've had to reboot it a
couple times and have noticed something rather annoying though.
My setup is pretty simple and, dare I say, common. I have the SPA-3000
"inline" between my incoming POTS line and the internal house phone. It's
setup to deliver

[OT] Disconnect Tone in US
I have a SPA-3000 that is failing to hanging up pretty often; almost
every day now. The weird thing is that an almost identically configured
(same FW, different HW rev) second unit right next to it isn't having
the same problem. Swap the lines and the problem stays with the unit.
I've been going round and round with Sipura and their latest message
told me to use a procedure detailed in

interface. Got 2200 minutes of beep-beep-beep-...; the caller

Suitable for Dynamic IVR Platform?
New to asterisk so please be gentle. I'm guessing I'm among a number of
recent additions to the list after the article in Linux Mag. I gotta say
I'm *very* intersted in the project and will be doing lots of reading
shortly. A couble quick questions first...
How suitable is Asterisk for use as an IVR providing callers with textual
data out of a database? Can it be combined easily

SPA-841 Call Waiting
Am I doing something wrong here? GOt a SPC-841 the other day and have it
registering properly. Can place and recive calls as expected but when on
the phone, a second call is immediately dumped to "busy" voicemail. Does
this thing not support call-waiting? Or, have I just got my configs
wrong?

SPA-841 MWI
Running * CVS with a SPA-841 (0.9.5) and can't seem to get the message
waiting light to come on automatically. There is a control in the web
interface to turn it on and off (seems rather curious to me but whatever).
Has anybody got an idea as to where I may be going awry?
TIA,
Paul

dialing 0 in directory()
I've got a context in my dialplan like so but pressing 0 doesn't seem
to be working. Instead of dropping out to the "o" extension, it's
just returning to the start of the direcotry app. Same with star.
Anyone see where I've gone awry?

Voicetronix vs Digium FXO
One of the suggestions I got for dealing with my analog FXO woes was to
look into using a Voicetronix card instead of the Digium. They're more
expensive but if it worked better it may be reasonable. They indicated
they were compatable with the CVS HEAD version of *.
Can someone share with me their experiences with Voicetronix OpenLine
and/or OpenSwitch cards with *? I'm specifically

comparing lm(), survreg( ... , dist="gaussian") and survreg( ... , dist="lognormal")
Dear R-Helpers:
I have tried everything I can think of and hope not to appear too foolish
when my error is pointed out to me.
I have some real data (18 points) that look linear on a log-log plot so I
used them for a comparison of lm() and survreg. There are no suspensions.

Silly question: Why multiple lines on SIP phones?
This is probably going to sound really silly and I must be confused about
it. Maybe someone can set me straight.
I've been tinkering for a while with * and a number of different FXO/FXS
cards, SIP phones, and ATAs trying to get a feel for what works and what
doesn't. In the SIP phone group, I have a Cisco 7940G, a Polycom 500, and
now an SPA-841. Each of these allow me to configure at

Use of survreg.distributions
Dear R-user:
I am using survreg(Surv()) for fitting a Tobit model of left-censored longitudinal data. For logarithmic transformation of y data, I am trying use survreg.distributions in the following way:
tfit=survreg(Surv(y, y>=-5, type="left")~x + cluster(id), dist="gaussian", data=y.data, scale=0, weights=w)
my.gaussian<-survreg.distributions$gaussian

interpretation of coefficients in survreg AND obtaining the hazard function
1. The weibull is the only distribution that can be written in both a
proportional hazazrds for and an accelerated failure time form. Survreg
uses the latter.
In an ACF model, we model the time to failure. Positive coefficients
are good (longer time to death).
In a PH model, we model the death rate. Positive coefficients are
bad (higher death rate).
You are not the first to be confused

3-parametric Weibull regression
Hello,
I'm quite new to R and want to make a Weibull-regression with the survival package. I know how to build my "Surv"-object and how to make a standard-weibull regression with "survreg".
However, I want to fit a translated or 3-parametric weibull dist to account for a failure-free time.
I think I would need a new object in survreg.distributions, but I don't know how
