Hello,
I am working with the persp command. I want to change to color of the facets
according
to their z-value. The colors seems to be transposed, i.e. the color of a facet A
seems
to be used for a facet B which is a (defined?) way off....
An example:

persp plot question..
Dear All,
I have been trying to to do this for a few days now. I can generate
persp plot OK and can generate it in colour using the command
persp(x,y,z,col=terrain.colors(20))
However, I was wondering if it is possible to shade the 3d surface like a
contour plot. i.e. black for large z, white for small z, say

case conversion and/or string comparison
This is no doubt trivial but after searching the help files and the web, I
cannot seem to find it.
1) How do I convert 'hgt' into 'HGT' in R?
2) How should I have used the help facilities to find this?
At the end of the day, all I want to do is case insensitive string
matching... i.e. 'if ("HGT" == 'hgt') print('this should be true')'

persp, array and colors
Dear R-users,
I'd like to plot a three-dimensional surface and at the meantime I'm using
an array. I would like to have the values of my first matrix in the heights
of the plot and the colors of the single facet taking into account the
second matrix.

Plot range resizing when adding additiona lines
Hi -- I have searched the documentation and archives on graphing
capabilities in R for the past couple of hours, but I haven't been able
to find anything directly related to my problem.
I want to create a plot with several lines displayed on it. I want each
line to be displayed in a different color, so it seems the only way to
do this is to create a plot and then use the lines() function.

Replacing for loop with tapply!?

We have a large data set with temperature data for weather stations
across the globe (15000 stations).
For each station, we need to calculate the number of days a certain
temperature is exceeded.
So far we used the following S code, where mat88 is a matrix containing

Bug in hsv() (PR#712)
Ross posted this code:

I hadn't seen the cm.colors function before; it's very nice! I wanted
to modify it a bit to allow the start and end colors as well as the
max saturation to be specified, and I think I may have turned up a bug

Hosting a R Graph Gallery?
Dear R users,
Following some of the recent questions and discussions about the R
plotting abilities, it occurred to me again that it would be very
valuable to have an R graph gallery.

persp() problem
I am having some trouble getting the persp() package to change the x
and y axis on a 3d plot. It defaults to the [0,1] interval and when I
try to change it I get errors.
Example:
This works:

panel function in a conditioned lattice graphic
I'm trying to use plotting character to encode the variable "block"
from my dataset in a conditioned lattice graphic (R 1.9.0 on Mac OS
10.3.3). The data I'm using is the dataframe "dryoutcover" which is

number of ticks in a persp() plot
Hi, I am trying to specify four ticks (at 0,1,2,3 for the y axis) in a persp
plot but the defaults overrule my specification and I obtain seven of them.
Is it possible to gain full control over them in such a plot? Here is my
code:

Conflict between xtable and Hmisc when using Sweave?
Dear R users,
The Sweave code below runs fine, as it is. However, an error occurs when
the line 'library(xtable)' is uncommented:
Error: chunk 1
Error in "label<-"(`*tmp*`, value = "month") :
no applicable method for "label<-"
Is anybody aware of this and knows a workaround?

Adding Text to a persp plot using specific coordinates

I'm experiencing some hassle to add some text on a persp plot...
Here is the code to generate the persp plot:

problem with geepack
Hi all
I am analyzing a data set containing information about the behaviour of

lme-post hoc
Hi all,
I analysed my data with lme and after that I spent a lot of time for
mean separation of treatments (post hoc). But still I couldn’t make

Perspective axes
Is there a way to get the axes labels for a persp() plot to show the
actual values employed? ticktype='detailed' only shows a scale from 0 to
1. My values are (for example) y in 0.2-0.7, x in 450-560 and I would
like to suppress the z labels.
How can I get the x and y values to appear on the plot?
R-2.3.1, Windows XP Home.
