problem with logistic regression
Hi, we try to do a logistic regression with the function glm. But we notice that this function don't give the same results as the SAS proc catmod (differents estimate given). We try to change the contrast on R system with: > options(contrasts=c(unordered="contr.SAS",ordered="contr.poly")) We also try with brlr and logistf functions. Unfortunately, the estimate

pb with package mix
hello, We've got a problem with the mix package in order to impute the missing data. After importing the data, the prelim function does not work (only the stlouis data works). We have done : >library(mix) >Manq <- read.table("C:/.../file.txt") >attach(Manq) >save(Manq,file="C:/../R/rw2001/library/mix/data/Manq.rda") >data(Manq) >Manq V1 V2 V3 V4 1

bootstrapping
hi. i'm a statistics student and studying bootstrap in R. i'm trying to draw bootstrap samples from a sample, using the following R code: > *boot = numeric(200)* *> {for (i in 1:200)* * boot [i] = (sample(data, replace=T))}* i obtain 200 samples but all of them are the same. i want to obtain different samples. what should i do? can you please help me if possible. thank you.

Frontend Style Demo Page
Hi guys! I''m trying to help out our frontend guy by making a page a single page that contains every kind of situation our site uses. So there should be a header, a nav in a few various states, a new form, a form with errors, etc. Then I also want to figure out some way to show what it will look like in a few different screen sizes (I''m thinking of starting with a pair of

statistics - hypothesis testing question
I estimate two competing simple regression models, A and B where the LHS is the same in both cases but the predictor is different ( I handle the intercept issue based on other postings I have seen ). I estimate the two models on a weekly basis over 24 weeks. So, I end up with 24 RSquaredAs and 24 RsquaredBs, so essentally 2 time series of Rsquareds. This doesn't have to be necessarily thought

EMC/ACBEL Polytech UPS
I have a couple EMC relabled ACBEL/Polytech UPSs which I'm unable to find anything about. What I do know is that ACBEL/Polytech is CoolerMaster, however, they don't make UPSs that I know of. These UPSs were used as part of an EMC Clarion array. Does anyone know anything about these? Thanks, Mark. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

result numeric(0) when using variable1[which(variable2="max(variable2)"]
Dear all, I have a question about the knowing for which row I have the max value of one of my variables. I calculated the Rsquared for different columns and made a list to gather them. I unlisted this list to create a vector with this values. I want to know for which column I have the max value of Rsquared. The columns were always named in the same way. They always start with results4$depth_

Regular expression help
How about this (I'm showing it as a pipe because it's easier to read that way): library(magrittr) "f 147/1315/587 2820/1320/587 3624/1321/587 1852/1322/587" %>% ? strsplit(' ') %>% ? unlist %>% ? sub('^[^/]*/*','',.) %>% ? sub('^[^/]*/*','',.) %>% ? paste(collapse = ' ') Georges Monette -- Georges Monette,

annotation problems (conditional text())
Hello, I'm trying to annotate my plots nicely and am running into trouble. This example contains two problems: a) the 'text()' arguments do not show the conditional behavior I'm trying to give them. I try to test for the intercept of my regression and reformat the output accordingly ('+ intercept' in the >= 0 case and '- sqrt(intercept^2)' in the other case),

Custom flags in v1.0.15
Hello all, I'm having problems with setting custom flags on a dovecot imap setup, with mbox mail store. I was running v1.0rc15 on a Debian Etch box, upgraded recently to v1.0.15, but nothing changed. The problem : I read my mail using IMAP. In Thunderbird (various versions, current one being v2.0.0.19), I can set various message flags (Important, Personal, Work, ... mapped to IMAP as

how to get r-squared for a predefined curve or function with "other" data points
hello mailing list! i still consider myself an R beginner, so please bear with me if my questions seems strange. i'm in the field of biology, and have done consecutive hydraulic conductivity measurements in three parallels ("Sample"), resulting in three sets of conductivity values ("PLC" for percent loss of conductivity, relative to 100%) at multiple pressures

Regular expression help
I have a file containing "words" like a a/b a/b/c where there may be multiple words on a line (separated by spaces).? The a, b, and c strings can contain non-space, non-slash characters. I'd like to use gsub() to extract the c strings (which should be empty if there are none). A real example is "f 147/1315/587 2820/1320/587 3624/1321/587 1852/1322/587" which

caret pls model statistics
Greetings, I have been exploring the use of the caret package to conduct some plsda modeling. Previously, I have come across methods that result in a R2 and Q2 for the model. Using the 'iris' data set, I wanted to see if I could accomplish this with the caret package. I use the following code: library(caret) data(iris) #needed to convert to numeric in order to do regression #I

user coordinates and rug plots in lattice graphics
Dear R list members, I'd like to produce rug plots at the bottom of panels in a trellis display (using the lattice package), but par("usr") doesn't return user coordinates for panels, and consequently rug fails, as the following example (suggested to me by Georges Monette) illustrates: > x <- rnorm(50) > y <- rnorm(50) > f <-

FW: How to fit an linear model withou intercept
Hi Mark, I don't know wether you recived a sufficient reply or not, so here are my comments to your problem. Supressing the constant term in a regression model will probably lead to a violation of the classical assumptions for this model. From the OLS normal equations (in matrix notation) (1) (X'X)b=X'y and the definition of the OLS residuals (2) e = y-Xb you get - by
