Blank lines in DESCRIPTION
Dear R-devel list, I would like to enquire about the existence of blank lines in the DESCRIPTION file. Testing different possibilities with tools:::.read_description suggests that starting or ending with blank lines is acceptable while blank lines in the middle of the file get caught by out <- tryCatch(read.dcf(dfile, keep.white = .keep_white_description_fields), error = function(e)

listof
Dear R developers A question about the class 'listof', defined in package 'stats'. Other than its definition and use in the code for 'anova', we can't see that the class 'listof' is used for anything else (in recommended packages, or elsewhere). In the spatstat package we have been using a 'listof' to represent a list of spatial objects of the same

SpatStat Kest - Error Message help
Hi I'm working with the function Kest in the package SpatStat (under LINUX with R 2.1.0). In order to evaluate the statistical significance of my point pattern I'm doing 999 Montecarlo replications. The script that use the Kest function runs OK for most of the different point patterns that I have but for a particular point pattern, which have only 17 points, it runs until the 34th

Wishlist: optional svn-revision number tag in package DESCRIPTION file
Hi, just a little wish : Could we have one (or maybe more) standardized optional tag(s) for package DESCRIPTION files to cover svn revision info? This would be very useful for bug reporting... I know that any developer is already free to append corresponding lines to DESCRIPTION files to do something of this sort --- e.g. lines like LastChangedDate: {$LastChangedDate: 2009-03-31 $}

Spatstat users.
This is a cry for help. My apologies for taking up bandwidth with an issue that is not really on topic. But I really do want to acquire the requested information. In the course of preparing my PBRF (performance based research funds) portfolio for the upcoming PBRF exercise here in New Zealand, I have been advised that I should provide some estimate of the number of "active users" of

(PR#9796) write.dcf/read.dcf cycle converts missing entry
BIll, Thanks. I am seeing some problems here, for example when all the fields are missing, or all the fields in a row are missing. I've fixes for those, and will commit to R-devel shortly. about"Riply's K function"and "envelope"
hi! I did Riply's K function and envelope in the package "SPATSTAT". When the species number is less, it can work well and it is quickly. But when the species number is more(example:2000), it told me"memory limit". So I change "memory limit". But the speed is very slow. I took 13 hours to run the programe. Perhaps there are other methods that can do it. Or just

Spatstat help - quadratcount query
Hi all, I am using quadratcount in spatstat to divide a window containing a point pattern into a grid of quadrats containing the intensity of points in each quadrat. My data is in UTM co-ordinates. My window is defined as follows: >p15<-ppp(x,y,window=owin(c(341710,342100),c(3126465,3126780)),marks=NUL L, checks=TRUE) Giving me a distance of 390m in the 'x' direction and 315m in

Quadratcount() plotting in R spatstat

Creating a private CRAN with webpages
I'm not trying to create a mirror of the CRAN. I also do not want to create a "subset" of CRAN packages. Sorry if my explanation was confusing. There are internal proprietary R packages that I would like to host on a private repo. I like the CRAN web pages that allow a user to browse the various packages from a browser without having to first install them. I want to duplicate the

I'm looking for a book about spatial point patterns (Diggle, 2003)
To understand some functions about spatial point patterns in "spatstat" ,I should know some background about it, and the best way is to read the monograph, and "Statistical Analysis of Spatial Point Patterns" (2nd edt.) is a better choise. But I can not find it anywhere I can. Who can help me? Thank you! ----- unangu at gmail.com -- View this message in context:

sampling from the uniform distribution over a convex hull

This is implemented in library 'spatstat'. If x and y are vectors of coordinates of your initial set of points, library(spatstat) W <- convexhull.xy(x, y) P <- runifpoint(42, W) will compute

close but no cigar
Hi Everyone: It turns out that there's still a small ( I hope ) problem. I'm close but that only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades. Here's my problem: When trying to load a package that I am writing, the load is looking for the packageDescription function in the utils package but not finding the utils package. I looked on cran and utils is not there which makes me think that it

Lazy loading... advices
Hello, I am looking for more information about lazy loading introduced in R 2.0.0. Doing ?lazyLoad I got some and there is a 'see also' section that points to 'makeLazyLoading'... But I cannot reach this page. My problem is: I recompiled a library that uses a lot of functions from other libraries (of course I can give details if needed). I load it in my computer: library(svGUI),
