assessing the fit of a LME model
Dear All, I would like to ask a couple of questions on a LME model. I tested 4 selection lines at 4 food concentrations against a standard competitor stock. I had 3 replicate cages per selection line. In each cage I have 10 vials. I counted the number of wild type flies and competitor stock emerging in each vial. My main question is: is there any difference between selection lines? I did fit

ks.test and wilcoxon.test results differ from other stat.packages
Probably, it's an obvious info, but I have not found anything in R FAQ concerning this feature/bug. The results of ks.test and wilcoxon.test (in the Mann-Whitney version, paired = 'FALSE') don't coincide with the results from the other statistical packages, e.g. Statistica, Medcalc, and (as for MW test) from the numerous online MW tests. E.g. Statistica p-value=0.0435353 Medcalc

RODBC, IODBC and Mac OS X
Dear All, As some of you in the archive, i am experiencing problems in using RODBC with IODBC on Mac OS X Panther. I am currrently facing two problems. The first one is apparently linked with IODBC (according to returned R error message) although testing the database access from IODBC manager seems to work fine. The second is by far more radical, R purely and simply reports an error ,

About ROC curves
Hi, Dear all R users: Does someone know whether R can calculate the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) Curves? I didn't find it from the packages. Thanks a lot. --- Xin

About Mcneil Hanley test for a portion of AUC!
Dear all I am trying to compare the performances of several methods using the AUC0.1 and not the whole AUC. (meaning I wanted to compare to AUC's whose x axis only goes to 0.1 not 1) I came to know about the Mcneil Hanley test from Bernardo Rangel Tura and I referred to the original paper for the calculation of "r" which is an argument of the function cROC. I can only find the

matrix output
Hi friends, I have questions about printing a pretty big size matrix. As you could see from below, the matrix wasn't showed in R at full size (11X11), but it was cut partly into three smaller matrices (11X4,11X4,11X3). I'm wondering if there is a way to show the whole matrix with dimension 11X11, do you know how to make it? If R really couldn't fit the full big matrix at once, what

gPXE failing to compile
I'm compiling syslinux 3.72 as part of a buildroot project and found that the compile fails due to gPXE using printf in a way that throws warnings, while specifying "-Wall -Werror" in the makefile. I'm not sure if this problem is related to the environment I'm compiling in or if it is actually a bug, however the attached patch resolves it for me. -- Regards Nick

Dear R Users, I am hoping you can help me. I have received code from a colleague who uses Matlab. I need to translate it into R. I am wondering if there is a randomization t-test (from non-parametric statistics) function already defined in R. (In Matlab the function is randtest.m.) ************************************************************************ ********** QUESTION: Is anyone

locked out of NT Domain
Hello, our sysop's asked me to forward this: Hi everybody, maybe someone can give me a solution to the following problem (get rid of NT unfortunately is no solution). Our net environment contains NT4SP5 and SAMBA servers. Workstations run NT4SP3 and SP5. Part of our password policy is to change passwords every thirty days, and lock the user account after ten unvalid logon attempts. Lately,

New package 'backbone' for extracting significant edges from a weighted graph
Hello R users, I am excited to introduce a new package for R which is now available on CRAN called ?backbone?. The package can be found here: https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/backbone/index.html The backbone package provides methods for extracting from a weighted graph a binary or signed backbone that retains only the significant edges. The user may input a weighted graph, or a bipartite
