Is anyone successfully using acts_as_ferret with Ferret 0.11.4?
Hi all,
I upgraded from Ferret 0.11.3 to Ferret 0.11.4 because I was getting
intermittent segfaults that seemed to be due to a bug which was fixed
(changeset 749).
Unfortunately, 0.11.4 + acts_as_ferret seems to be a bad combination. I''m
getting the some "fs_store/File Not Found Error occured at <except.c>:117"
which was reported in the "Constant 0.11.4

Resetting ferret index before test runs
I need to reset the ferret index between test runs.
It seems like there are a few ways to reset the ferret index.
* Deleting the index directory -- is this really bad form?
* calling rebuild_index
* (any others?)
What would y''all recommend? (Sorry, I''m from Texas)
Preferably, I''d like a way to reset the index that I can integrate
into a selenium test.

Cacti - Monitor Ferret Server Stats?
I''m wondering if someone can point me in a direction to monitor the
ferret drb server while using cacti.
Is it possible to run multiple instances of ferret drb on the same
machine, just on different ports? Will it still update the index
properly, or will you get collision? New to moving over to the drb
server.
Thanks.

Highlighting returns entire field in Ferret trunk?
Hello,
I''m using Ferret trunk (#770) with Kyle''s large file support patch:
http://ferret.davebalmain.com/trac/ticket/215
I''m having trouble with Ferret::Search::Searcher#highlight returning too
much text around the query term. Regardless of what I set
:excerpt_length to, highlight returns the entire contents of the field
up to the first occurrence of the search

Highlighting broken in TRUNK
Hello list,
As there is still some large file support bugs in the 0.11.4 release
I had to download the trunk and apply a patch sent in by kyle http://
ferret.davebalmain.com/trac/ticket/215.
The problem is now that the highlighting doesn''t work.
Somehow it combines excerpt_length with num_excerpts so if you have
and excerpt_length of 50 and num_excerpts of 5 and you get only one

[LLVMdev] question about llvm.powi and reassociation
Hello, all. To get my feet wet and hopefully make a small contribution, I
was looking for something small to start with. I settled on one of the
suggestions from the CodeGen readme:
> Reassociate should turn things like:
>
> int factorial(int X) {
> return X*X*X*X*X*X*X*X;
> }
>
> into llvm.powi calls, allowing the code generator to
> produce balanced multiplication

Question about the Fail over on the ferret server
Dear All,
Currently, I have set to using a single ferret server on a single
server , and access it from several other servers that running

I want to ask if there is any way to setup Ferret in cluster that can
prevent from single point of failure if one of the ferret server is
down? Thanks.

Library (Ferret) Trampling Namespace
Greetings. Apologies if I missed something like this in the archives or internet, but I''m having namespace issues using Ferret with Rails, but this looks to be an issue with any library and Rails. Specifically, I have a model class "Weight" in my application and Ferret also has a class "Weight" in it (Ferret::Search::Weight). My app runs perfectly fine until it first

Error using Ferret - ferret/index.rb:271:in `delete''
We are using Ferret on our site answeru.com. Today all of a sudden we
started getting Ferret errors while users were trying to register or log
into the system. I am not a Ferret techie - I apologize if a similar problem
has already been asked or if it is not really a Ferret issue.
Any ideas:

Ferret failing to rebuild_index - occasionally unable to delete a file (_j.cfs)
I''m switching all my fulltext searching over to ferret using the
acts_as_ferret plugin on windows (for development, will be deployed on
linux).
In my tests I have a setup method as follows to ensure the index is
reset for each test:
def setup
Item.rebuild_index
end
This works fine for the initial few tests but then suddenly fails for
the last few tests when it seems to be

Ferret Locking issues
Dave and all,
I run a medium RoR app using Ferret and acts_as_ferret. I get a lot of
lock errors. Not always but around 5% of all searches (aspecially during
peak periods). Here are the messages I get:
A NameError occurred in szukaj#index:

ferret 0.11.3 - File Not Found
Hi,
I noticed a 0.11.3 release and gave it a whirl. I''ve so far not been
able to reproduce any segfaults with my ferret_killer[1] script, though
I do get some errors.
when the searching process is running and I start the indexing process,
I immediately get:

undefined method `add'' for Ferret::Search::BooleanQuery
Up to now in my ferret development I have been using simple
single-word strings as my search queries. I just now am trying to
increase the complexity of my queries. When I was passing a single
word with no spaces in my index searches, like so:
count = index.search_each(''testing'') do |d, s|
...
end
everything worked fine. But now when I do something like this:

Ferret 0.10.6 released (and some benchmarks)
Hey folks,
** Description **
Firstly for those who don''t know, Ferret is a full-text search library
which makes adding search to your application a breeze. It''s much
faster than MySQL full-text search as well most other search libraries
out there. It allows you to do Boolean (+ruby + rails -jewelry) and
phrase queries ("the quick brown fox") as well as some more

Two repeatable crash bugs in Ferret proper
Hi guys! Been reading this list for a while.
I have two repeatable Ferret crash bugs, both seg faults.
1. The first bug appears to seg fault Ferret when you use quotes in a search
argument (eg ''file_name:"file name"'')
2. The second bug appears to seg fault Ferret when you attempt to index text
with very long tokens (above 256 chars). It may have something to do with
