Installing RMySQL on Windows XP for R 1.9.1
Hi, I'm thankful for any help on installing RMySQL on Windows XP for R 1.9.1 The thread http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/04/01/1021.html already tried to discuss the matter. It concludes that Windows Sources for Packages are alike the Linux ones. So I extracted the files from the RMySQL_*.tar.gz from http://stat.bell-labs.com/RS-DBI/download/index.html and stuffed them into a zip-file

Mixreg package
Dear R users it's my first time using R and I am specially interested in doing analyses with the "mixreg" package. I use W2000 but it seems the code for R is available only for Linux Os. Anyway I I downloaded the *tar.gz file of the package for R and the converted it in a *zip file. Apparently the installation process was ok, but when loading it I got the following error: Error in

Trouble with HTML search engine
There have been a number of posts to this list by people having trouble with the HTML search engine. Often these troubles are caused by incorrect setups (user hasn't installed Java properly, or Java is disabled, or Javascript is disabled). Sometimes the trouble persists even when Java is installed properly. I have written an alternative HTML search engine, which is based on Javascript rather

error using daisy() in library(cluster). Bug?
Hi, I'm using the cluster library to examine multivariate data. The data come from a connection to a postgres database, and I did a short R script to do the analisys. With the cluster version included in R1.8.0, daisy worked well for my data, but now, when I call daisy, I obtain the following messages: --------- Error in if (any(sx == 0)) { : missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed In

Bug in cor.test - Spearman
Greetings. There seems to be a problem with the P-value computation in the cor.test with method="spearman". In R1.8.0 (MS Windows) I seem to be getting intermittently nonsense P-values, but the rho's are OK. I can get this reproducibly with the toy example attached where the first use is OK and subsequent calls with the same data give nonsense. (I have also seen the problem

R/Splus--Perl Interface && ssh
Hi: I'm using RSPerl_0.6-3 calling R from Perl under UNIX system. My perl programs with the RSPerl work well in my computer. If submitting these programs to a UNIX system by 'ssh' or to GNQS system by 'qsub', these programs do not work even though both systems can run R. Details are following. Any suggestion will be highly appreciated. Xiao My perl program 'tt.pl'

psi not functioning in nlrob?
Hi all, I'm trying to fit a nonlinear regression by "nlrob": model3=nlrob(y~a1*x^a2,data=transient,psi=psi.bisquare, start=list(a1=0.02,a2=0.7),maxit=1000) However an error message keeps popping up saying that the function psi.bisquare doesn't exist. I also tried psi.huber, which is supposed to be the default for nlrob: model3=nlrob(y~a1*x^a2,data=transient,psi=psi.huber,

R 1.6 Gui for Windows
I upgraded to R Gui 1.6 this morning and I can't seem to get it to accept my new startup directory. R 1.51 will accept "F:\_ben\bls\gen1\results\bls\analysis" as the start in directory for the R Gui shortcut, but R 1.6 will not. R 1.6 will accept "F:\_ben\bls\gen1\results\bls". It seems to have trouble when I add "\analysis." R still loads fine but I get the

Release of Design library; update of Hmisc library
The Design library has been fully ported to R except for Cox proportional hazards regression modeling (using Therneau's survival package) which will be available in about two weeks. It will take much longer to make all the example code executable, is it currently contains many examples for which data are not provided. Thanks to Xiao Gang Fan <xiao.gang.fan1 at libertysurf.fr> who
