"model.response" error
When I installed R 2.0.1 (replacing 1.9.0) for Windows, a code using "model.response" began acting up. Here are the first several lines of a code I had been tweaking for a spatial model (the code is mostly that of Roger Bivand--I am adapting it to a slightly different data structure and the problem I'm sure is with my changes, not his code). <command name> <- function

Z aware interpolation
Hello again, There is any package which does Z aware (real 3D) interpolations? It can be any method (IDW, kriging or spline) but it should take into consideration not only x and y coordinates for interpolation, but also z coordinate. I looked into different packages but it seems i didn't find the right one. The ultimate goal is to import the output into a GIS (Geographical Information

S intrp function
Hi. I am trying some S-Plus scripts that I used a few years ago on R. Many things have worked flawlesly and I am very impressed with the work the developers have done. (As I remember, the license fee on S-Plus at that time was ~$4500 per seat (AIX) ouch!!) So, thank you. My question relates to the intrp function, which takes irregularly spaced xyz data and produces a regular xyz grid

Isocontour-lines of spatial data on a rectangular grid (not plots!)
Dear R-Listers, I have spatial data on an equidistant rectangular grid, similar to topographic data. I know that there are quite a few R-packages or base functions that provide nice iso-contours plot, but I don't want a plot, just the smoothed isocontour line of ONE level (e.g. 10 mm). Data sets are large, so it would be preferable if the availability of regular grid data could be exploited,

plotting image/contour on irregular grid
Hello, I'd like to make a z(x,y) plot for irregularly spaced x,y. What are routines are available in R for this purpose? Thanks, Mark

akima 0.4-5, interpp() bug = COMMON block problem
Hi, I'm currently hunting a bug in the akima library, especially in the code behind the interpp.old function (bi-variate linear interpolation). It is based on a triangulation algorithm, interpolation at a given point needs to know the triangle which contains this point, then the interpolation is a straightforward calculation based on the three vertexes. The problem is: Sometimes the triangle

nearest neighbour interpolation
Dear Help List, My name is Matt Oliver. I have been using R for about a year and find it very helpful. However, I have a need for a function that I cannot find. I am not very good at programming so I thought I would ask the group. I have an irregular grid of data (x = Longitude, y = Latitude). Each pair of my x,y has a categorical value. Obviously linear or any other numerically based

constructing a matrix for rgl plots
I'll mention that the 'akima' package is also handy for this kind of interpolation. Full_Name: Roger Bivand Version: 0.99.0 OS: RH Linux 6.1 Submission from: (NULL) (158.37.60.152) I am working on an interface between R and the GRASS geographical information system, written in R, with no dynamically loaded code. interpolation and extremum location of a surface‏
Hello, I have a x,y,z file.Z is not corresponding to a simple analytical function of x and y (see below). I am trying to find the minimum location of this surface and the z value corresponding to this location by a spline interpolation or from a polynomial fit. I tried with the akima package but as the location of the point I am looking for (the minimum) is outside of the convex hull it's

(no subject)
Hello all, I have a very large file (280k lines) containing three comma separated variables. The first variable is a 0 or 1 depicting a pass or fail. The other two are X and Y coordinates. Is there a good way I can represent this data in a chart/plot form other than using a 3d histogram? If I need to use the histogram, should I base my chart off the example contained in the RGL package? Thanks a

Using GRASS/R interface with an xy location
I am using GRASS 5.7 and R 2.0 for OS X. I have a simple xy location I am doing some theoretical work with and would like to import maps into R using the interface in order to do analyses. Yet when I attempt to do this, I get the following error: >G<-gmeta() Error in gmeta() : region for current mapset is invalid line 11: <top: 100> run "g.region" I traced the

Accurate area map projections
Hi, Could any one point me to the projection, and parameters if necessary, that would show each country/continent with it's area accurately refelcted on the plot? E.g. aitoff vs. albers vs. bonne vs. cylequalearea vs. guyou - they don't all look the same to mee but some of the documentations suggests they are equal area? Of course this isn't my field, so I am largely guessing and am

grid Graphics by Paul Murrell
Dear All, I've been trying to format a plot output using par() with mfrow, fin, mai, etc and basically it's proving to be a pain. I searched on google and found that Paul Murrell had written a grid Graphics program which seems perfect. However, when I try and use say viewport() I just get a function not found error. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong please? Thank-you

dot density maps
Dear All, In the moment i'm using the map and maptools package to read shapefiles and display the maps. I'm looking for the possibility to draw points (randomly positioned or positioned according to a grid) into the polygons instead of filling the polygons with colors. For example: a map (shapefile) with 10 countries, 15 points in the polygon of country A, 20 points in the

Installing GRASS_0.1-4.tar.gz on RedHat7.1 Linux
Dear list, I have a problem to install the GRASS_0.1-4.tar.gz on RedHat7.1 Linux. The gmake5 is missing. But I am not quite sure what it is? Is it a gnu version of MAKE? I could not locate it on my system and I do not know what is really meant. Any experience? I get the following message: ---------------------------------------------------- bash-2.04$ R CMD INSTALL -l
