ices, alsa, dsnoop plugin a metadata update
Hello, I found a bug by metadata updating in ices-2.0.0. I use icecast2 server for streaming stations of Czech Radio. Czech Radio prefers streaming in both formats mp3 and ogg. So - I'm using DarkIce as a live audio streamer, which does encoding to mp3 and ogg streams together. I would like to insert textual information about actual streaming program, but DarkIce does not support it. So -

par$csi
Dear R-help, I'm using 63.3 on windows NT. The improved graphics device has a problem in that the default par settings produce text that is way too small (63.2 seemed fine). I've compared the parameters between 63.3 and 63.2 and the ones that differ are : cin, cra, csi, mai, pin, plt. In the par help file, cin and cra have no documentation other than that they are read only, the last

Hello Adam, Thank you so much for taking the time to write to me. Dear R users; Im working with lme and Id like to have an idea of how can I get CI for the predictions made with the model. Im not a stats guy but, if Im not wrong, the CIs should be different if Im predicting a new data point or a new group. Ive been searching through the web and in help-lists with no luck. I know this topic had been asked before but without replies. Can anyone give an idea of

Is Ruby on Rails the next step for the new generation?
Hi my 12 year old, WIX, is an amazing auto deductive computer whiz. I have to keep up... He is an excellent VB programmer and knows JAVA. I have been told ROR is the future. I want to guide WIX so he can build up a good methodical working knowledge but don''t want him to waste his time on archaic languages that will not be around soon...Should his next step be ROR or would you recommend

getting started, reading listing and saving data
Dear List I am new to R and to the list and will try best as I can be clear and concise. My apologies if anything I write contravenes the posting code on this list. I would also like to say I have run through most of the material on the R website before writing this email however, I am stuck. Here is what I want to do and what I have done 1. Read a comma seperated text file into R I have used

Unknown column 'quotes.organisation_id' in 'where clause': SELECT * FROM `quotes` WHERE (`quotes`.organisation_id = 1036)
Hi, I have a small app that needs to keep track of quotes, and organisations. An organisation can either be the unit who finally receives the goods (the end_user) or and intermediary (customer) (and in some cases both) An Organisation will (hopefully :) ) have many quotes; and a quote can belong to an organisation, either as a customer or as an end_user or both. So the quotes table

quotes within quotes
How does one put quotes within quotes, if it's possible? I've tried replacing one set of the quotes by single quotes. If it's not possible, is there any way to do the following? > cmd <- "read.dta" > opt <- "convert.factors=FALSE" > data.file <- " file="/full/path/name.dta" " > eval(call(cmd, data.file, opt)) Prior to

Hi all, I would like to run the following from within R: awk '{$3=$4="";gsub(" ","");print}' myfile > outfile However, this obviously won't work: system("awk '{$3=$4="";gsub(" ","");print}' myfile > outfile") and this won't either: system("awk '{$3=$4='';gsub('

Strata and Degrees of freedom in anova and multi-level modeling
I am changing the title because this is really about the history of anova, and about strata in analysis of variance. As this kind of question has been arising very frequently, an extended comment may be in order. The ideas, and the sums of squares breakdowns, go back to Fisher; see in particular his "Design of Experiments", first published in 1935. This book is still a good

Constant (= wrong) historical quotes via get.hist.quote() from yahoo.finance
Dear expeRts, I would like to download a time series of historical data from the ticker with symbol "ROG.VX". Interestingly, I obtain constant values (138.3 for each day in the chosen period) although the yahoo.finance website tells me that the time series is not at all constant. What's wrong? Cheers, Marius require(tseries) hq <- get.hist.quote(instrument="ROG.VX",

Problem with adding slots to S4 object
Dear all, I did some more work in this. - put all the metadata in a dedicated subclass (see metadataclass branch in github repository). This doesn't solve the problem. - test the code under R 3.1.2. This gives the same problem. So this is NOT a bug introduced by R 3.2.0 :-) - Profiling the code. Below the summary (code is on GitHub). It seems like most of the time is spent by paste(). Note

Adding quotes around a text field
I have a text field where people enter tags and click a button to submit. Some of the users are entering multiple tags accidentally (i.e. ''really'' and ''cool'' instead of ''really cool'') so I''d like to alter my code so it automagically adds quotes on either side of whatever they submit. I haven''t the foggiest idea where to
