GLME
Hi All,
does anyone know if the package GLME by J. Pinheiro is available anywhere
in any form? checking on the archive I got that it was at some point, as as
a beta version (for S-Plus only, alas)...
Cheers,
Federico

lme4 --> GLMM
hello!
this is a question, how can i specify the random part in the GLMM-call
(of the lme4 library) for compound matrices just in the the same way as
they defined in the lme-Call (of the nlme library). For example
i would just need
random=list(my.Subject=pdBlocked(list(pdIdent(~... , ...),pdIdent(~... ,
...))))
this specification , if i also attach library(nlme) , is not

correlated data
Hi,
Is there an R library that has the same functionalities of Splus7.0+ library correlatedData?
I'd appreciate any input.

summary: Generalized linear mixed model software
Thanks to those who responded to my inquiry about generalized linear
mixed models on R and S-plus. Before I summarize the software, I note
that there are several ways of doing statistical inference for
generalized linear mixed models:
(1)Standard maximum likelihood estimation, computationally intensive
due to intractable likelihood function
(2) Penalized quasi likelihood or similar

Hello,
I am using R version 2.7.0 in a Windows XP context.
I am also using the glmm.admb package (created by Dave Fournier, Hans
Skaug, and Anders Nielson) to run mixed-effects negative binomial
models.
To the best of my knowledge and ability, I have searched and studied
the R-help, R-sig-mixed models, and ADMB NBMM for R (through Otter
Research Ltd) list servs; R help

writing a package for generalized linear mixed modesl
Happy new month, everyone!
I am planning to write a NIH grant proposal to study ways to speed
Monte Carlo based maximum likelihood algorithm for hierarchical models
with a focus on generalized linear mixed models (GLM with random
effects). I thought it would be nice and also increase the chance of
funding if I could produce an R package in the process. I understand
that Prof. Pinheiro ang Bates

deal with R.package panel
hello!
my question conserns with use of "panel" package (written by R.C.Gentlman)
(unfortunately the manual and help sites are very short)
1. is it possible to do analysis just without a(ny) covariate? i
suggest do it by introducing a covariate with level=0 in all
obervations, this because of Q(z)=Q_o exp(beta*z), but it seemingly
doesn't work

HGLM in R (was: writing a package for generalized linear mixed models)
I wonder if someone has tried to implement the hierarchical generalized
linear model (HGLM) approach of Lee and Nelder (JRSSB, 1996, 58: 619-56) in R.
Thanks in advance.

read.socket - Strange strings. How to force sub to remove all occurences of a pattern?
I am opening a connection to an apache server sending a get and then I am reading from the socket.
All works finde except that I am getting some strange strings disrupting the html
e.g.
<FON\r\nffb\r\nT COLOR ...
\r\na48\r\n
\r\nffb\r\n
They are not frequent ( a few of them) but of course make live hard.
I cant observe them with lynx --source they dont occure.
I am trying a workaround

José C. Pinheiro Training in UK - Analyzing Mixed-Effects Models with S-PLUS
Jos?? C. Pinheiro Training in UK - Analyzing Mixed-Effects Models with S-PLUS
Mixed-effects models provide a powerful tool for analyzing grouped data. This
course will overview the application of linear and nonlinear mixed-effects
models in the analysis of grouped data, using the NLME software in S-PLUS to
illustrate the different stages of model fitting. A new element to the course
will cover

Pinheiro/Bates Soybean nlme failure
Dear Mixed Effect Friends,
Somehow, R(1021, Windows) seem to run differently from S Plus:
The soybean example from Pinheiro/Bates on page 290 fails
in R. (Soybean1 is Soybean with the NA and "critical" case
removed. Same procedure with full Soybean).

wroung groupedData despite reading Bates and Pinheiro 3 times
Hi everyone. I am trying to add a formula to my data using the groupedData
function.
My experiment consists of randomized block design using fruits, vegetation
and time as factors. The idea is to see if fruits, vegetation and time
explain the abundance of mice. I am using tree density as a covariate.
So I tried to fit the following structure to my data.

GREP - Choosing values between two borders
Hello,
I import datas from an file with: readLines
But I need only a part of all measurments of this file. These are between
two borders "START" and "END".
Can you tell me the syntax of grep(), to choose values between two borders?
My R Code was not succesful, and I can't finde anything in the help.
Thank's a lot.
