xyplot tick marks and line thickness
Hello, A made a xyplot using the lattice library in R (latest version). The publisher of our paper has requested: 1. all tick marks should point inwards instead of outwards. 2. All lines should be thicker (lines, axes, boxes, etc. Everything). Lines is easy...I used: lwd=1.5 but what about the lines of the axes, and the lines that build up the plot itself?....? Any

Plot ticks and tick labels: thickness, colour?
I am displaying several series in one plot, and would like to make them distinct without having to employ a legend. I managed to color tickmarks, but have been unsuccessful with either one of a) making tickmarks thicker (without increasing the axis at the same time). From reading ?axis: lty, lwd: line type, width for the axis line and the tick marks. in would appear that I cannot

lw in legend also changes thickness of characters in the legend??
Here's a simple example: x <- 1:5 plot(x,x^2) lines(x,x^2) points(x,x,cex=2) lines(x,x,lw=3) legend("topleft",legend=c("y=x^2","y=x"),pch=1,pt.cex=1:2,lw=c(1,3)) The thickness of the circles in the legend changes with lw. If you change the lw argument in legend to lw=c(1,1) then the thickness of the circles goes back to normal. How can I make the above

line thickness in plots
Hi all,, Is it possible to set a thicker line for the box around the plots? (i.e. for the four axes) Something like lwd (lines) but for the box. axis and tick widths decoupled (especially in rugs!)
Hi! (a complete newby, but will not give up easily!) I was wondering if there is any way to decouple the axis and tick mark widths? As I understand they are both controlled by the lwd setting, and cannot be controlled independently? For example I might want to create major and minor ticks, which I now know how to do by superimposing two axes with different at settings, but what if I also wanted

lmer multilevel
My question relates to problems that I'm having matching lme and lmer examples in P&B. using Matix 0.995 In the Oxide example in p167-170 I can't get the level 2 coefficient estimates to match the fm1Oxide model in lme is data(Oxide, package="nlme") lme(Thickness~1,Oxide) which I translate in Lmer syntax to fm3Oxide<-lmer(Thickness~

axis thickness in plot()
Hello, I am trying to increase the thickness of the axis in plot() without reverting to the use of paint programs i see posts on that topic for the xyplot function but want to see if i can do it with plot() because i've already setup my graph script using that i thought i could use axis() function and specify lwd="thickness" or lwd.axis= but that does not work like it does for

sm.options
Hi, I am doing kernel density plots, and am trying to make the lines thicker. I comparing three groups, in sm.density.compare. I tried changing lwd to make the line sthicker right on the density compare call, but was not able to do it. There is not an option in sm.options to specify line thickness, as well as cex.ylab or cex.xlab- I tried it and it does not change the thickness of the lines.

thicker axis in levelplot
Dear R-help community, I need to find out how to make the black axis line around my plot thicker in levelplot, I cannot find the correct command in ?levelplot or ?par - or if it is there I cannot get it to work - any help would be more that appreciated! Here's an example script - I would want the code for making the axis bordering the plot thicker: x<- seq(pi/4, 5*pi,length=100)

Lmer BLUPS: was(lmer multilevel)
Paul: I may have found the issue (which is similar to your conclusion). I checked using egsingle in the mlmRev package as these individuals are strictly nested in this case: library(mlmRev) library(nlme) fm1 <- lme(math ~ year, random=~1|schoolid/childid, egsingle) fm2 <- lmer(math ~ year +(1|schoolid:childid) + (1|schoolid), egsingle) Checking the summary of both models, the output is

how to make plot lines thicker
I am trying to make the lines thicker in a graph (for a ppt presentation). Here is what I currently have: plot(x,y,type="l", ylab="Number of OTUs", xlab="Number of Samples Collected", col="Black", pch=1, ylim=c(0,6000)) points(x, Sobs$Chao_1_Mean, type="l", col="Gray", pch=1) (this is one of the added lines in the graph). I believe

[LLVMdev] floor
Here is a test case: extern double floor(double); extern double floor_(double); double x = 1.5; double y, y_; void foo() { double y = floor(x); double y_ = floor_(x); } If I compile this for Mips16, it calls the proper helper function for floor_ but not for floor, because the signature for floor in callee info is wrong. Args[0] = void RetTy = void

how to make point character thicker in xyplot?
Is there anyway to make plotting point character being thicker in xyplot? I mean not larger which can achieved by "cex=2", but thicker. I tried lwd=2, but it didn't work. I know "lwd" works in regular plot() not only for lines, but also for points. For example plot(1:10, lwd=2) Thanks John

[LLVMdev] Is va_arg correct on Mips backend?
Does it make a difference if you give the "-target" option to clang? $ clang -target mips-linux-gnu ch8_3.cpp -o ch8_3.bc -emit-llvm -c The .s file generated this way looks quite different from the one in your email. [LLVMdev] Is va_arg correct on Mips backend?
I didn't have Mips board. I compile as the commands and check the asm output as below. 1. Question: The distance of caller arg[4] and arg[5] is 4 bytes. But the the callee get every arg[] by 8 bytes offset (arg_ptr1+8 or arg_ptr2+8). I assume the #BB#4 and #BB#5 are the arg_ptr which is the pointer to access the stack arguments. 2. Question: Stack memory 28($sp) has no initial value. If

plotting GAM
Dear colleagues, I would like to have GAM regression lines (package gam) thicker than the default setting does. Is there any way to change the width of regression line when plotting gam.objects from the package GAM with more than one predictor? Changing lwd parameter in plot function controls all line components, including points making them thicker as well, which is not what I would like to

Change properties of line summary in interaction.plot
Is it possible to change the color/thickness of the summary line in an interaction.plot without changing the other individual data lines? I would like to make the line from the summary function (mean) the color red and thicker than the surrounding black lines. How can I do that? Here is a link to interaction.plot: http://stat.ethz.ch/R-manual/R-patched/library/stats/html/interaction.plot.html

Getting Pr from Summary(lm)
Hello, I am trying to get the P values from the output of a summary for lm. lm <- lm(y ~ age + sex) s <- summary(lm) I thought that I might be able to get them using a combination of scan, grep and sub. But I got stuck on the first step - being able to process "s" as a text string. I could perhaps write it to file than scan it back but there is probably an easier way to do
