Plot Data Points in boxplots
Hello,
I would like to plot my data in a fashion similar to a boxplot, but
plot the true data points without a box, just overlay lines of the
summary generated by the boxplot. I have less than 10 observations
within each group, so I think showing the actual data would be more
effective than the box of the boxplot. I have been unable to find a way
to do this.
Here is example data:

Using accrualReport.s in Hmisc/Design
Hello,
I apologize for the post if this is not the appropriate place. I have
searched the R List archives and the Vanderbilt.edu website, but am not
able to understand how to use the accrualReport.s and associated scripts
available at the Vanderbilt site. It must be very simple, but I am at a
loss for ideas. Any suggestions or pointers in the direction of
examples?
thanks very much.

Problems with updating R-packages
Dear Helpers,
I am new in Linux and R, trying to update packages I need in my work,
but repeatedly I failed for reasons I do not understand.
First, I use:
> update.packages()
Then, I choose nearest mirror and accept update of 'Design' package:
> Design :
> Version 2.0-9 installed in /usr/lib/R/site-library
> Version 2.0-12 available at http://cran.r-mirror.de

Building package compatible w/ R v1.9.1 and R v2.0.0?
Hi,
just in the process of updating my packages for R v2.0.0 and I have not had
time to followed the R v2.0.0 discussions so maybe my questions have already
been answered.
A concern I have is that when creating packages they should be backward
compatible with R v1.9.x for a while until all users and computers has
migrated to R v2.0.x. It is pretty straightforward to setup my packages so

Remounting ZFS formatted disk after system reinstall
I was running solaris 10 6/06 with latest kernel patch on ultra 20 (x86) with two internal disks, the root with the OS (c1d0) as UFS and the userland data on c2d0s7 formatted as ZFS. An update made the system unusable and required reinstallation of the OS on c1d0 (solaris 6/06).
I cannot figure out how to remount the second drive c2d0s7 which is formatted as ZFS. I have not created any ZFS

Unable to configure R 2.2.1 on Solaris 5.10 x86_64
Hello,
Apologies for the post here. I have read the R-Admin (learned
a lot!) and searched the web for days, but still fail at compiling R on
my Ultra 20 running solaris 10 x86 1/06.
This is the tail of './configure' output:

odfWeave processing error, file specific
Hello,
I hope there is a simple explanation for this. I have been using
odfWeave with great satisfaction in R 2.5.0. Unfortunately, I cannot
get beyond the following error message with a particular file. I have
copied and pasted into new files and the same error pops up. It looks
like the error is occurring before any of the R code is run (?).
Any suggestions on how to track this down and fix

reshape question
I am a relative R newbie and I am having trouble with reshape() on R
V1.9.1 on Linux. The same code appears to be ok when run on R V2.2.0 on
Windows and a V2.1 on Linux. Any help would be great as I need to stay
on V1.9 for the immediate future... Thanks, Reid Hutchins

Unable to get Legend with survplot rms package
Hello,
I apologize for the post as I am certainly overlooking a simple
solution to my difficulties with getting a legend to print on a
survplot from the rms package.
I am plotting the following:
survplot(survest(fita), n.risk=T, conf='none', cex.n.risk=.85, dots=T,
col='gray10', lty=2)
survplot(survest(fit), n.risk=F, conf='none', add=T)

Milestone: 1000 packages on CRAN as of today(?)
Hi,
I was just looking at the "CRAN Daily Package Check Results"
[http://cran.r-project.org/src/contrib/checkSummary.html], and
realized there are 1000 packages on CRAN as of today (look at row 3 in
the table below). Yet another quite extraordinary milestone in R
history.

Follow-up Q Re: displaying computation outputs inside "for" loops
I have a somewhat related question. A while back I was doing some simulations
using for() loops, and I wanted to keep track of the iterations using a line of
code quite similar to what Dimitris presented below. Instead of printing the
iteration message at the end of each iteration (actually, at the end of every
100th), nothing was printed until the for() loop was complete, and *then* all

Table Figures and Listings
Dear All,
I am fairly new to R. I work mainly in SAS. Now, I know that SAS is approved
by the FDA for submissions. My question is, does the FDA approve {R} for
clinical trial submissions. Also has anyone ever tried to produce TFL's using
R. I would like to know how difficult it to produce the TFL's in R as compared
to SAS. I know that in SAS it is not difficult once you know

R-question
Hello Colleagues,
I programmed in SAS for 3 years and would like to switch to a not so costly
software product.
Hence I started to evaluate R, and my first test look promising.
However I have some question:
1. Is it possible to query R files by SQL internally on data frames (not on
a database) and how is the syntax (I have the RODBC package installed).
I would like to extract year, Quarter,

Difficulty Compiling RSQLite on Solaris x86 Using Studio 12 Compilers
Apologies if this is not the best list on which to ask for help. I have
compiled R 2.6.0 using Sun Studio 12 compilers. I can install most CRAN
and bioconductor packages that I need, with the exception of RSQLite.
Unfortunately this is critical for other packages that I need. I have
tried to compile it using R CMD INSTALL to generate a config.log file.
I don't know how to fix the reported

Installation problems with R.classes bundle
Firstly hi to everyone on the list,
I am new to this list ans also R so please forgive the simplicity of my
questions over the next few months.
I have version R 1.9.1 and want to perform z-scoring for a benchmarking
procedure. I have tried to install Henrik Bengtsson's R.classes bundle
(http://www.maths.lth.se/help/R/R.classes). I have downloaded the .zip
file and placed the relevant folders

Strange (non-deterministic) problem with strsplit
I'm having an odd problem with strsplit (well I think it's strplit
that's causing the problem). When I run the code below as follows:
str(parseFormulaMin(y +x +d ~ b +d +e| a * b))
I expect to get
List of 3
$ y: chr "y+x+d"
$ x: chr "b+d+e"
$ g: chr "a*b"
But about half the time I get
List of 3
$ y: chr "y+x+d"
