Build R-patched from Source
Hi,
If I want to build R-patched from source (on Windows), do I need to edit
Makefile and/or MkRules at all?
I have followed all instructions in the INSTALL file (under
R-patched/src/gnuwin32/), as well as downloaded all the files from
http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/Rtools/ . My PATH variable has been
modified accordingly.
Now, with the only change to MkRules I made was to modify the Tcl/Tk

compiled help pages
Greetings:
This should be easy but it isn't.
I have a home-brew package that works fine, with compiled html help pages,
all 150 of them. I want to make a similar package but not from scratch
since only a half-dozen routines are changed. So I created a new directory,
copied the old package into it and changed the name to newSTUFF. I changed
the names of all help pages too, as weill

Hi all,
Here's a curosity I ran into since upgrading to 1.6.2 (precompiled
for Windows). When using the chm help I get the following warning. I saw
a recent post regarding this as a new warning (``dyn.load warning
message in R1.6.2 on Windows XP'' dated 1/28/03), but not in the context
of the help system. The warning only appears once and does not prevent

CHM error
Hi,
I would need some help in solving a problem with my R.
Whenever I try to type " ?paste " or in general any command for the html
help in R, I receive this error message. The strange thing is that I have
never had this kind of problem in the past with R, and now I really don't
understand why it says that. Also I have selected every single element in
the installation process.

Problem building packages from source (WIN32)
Dear List,
I have been experimenting with building packages from sources, having
previously relied upon the binaries.
I downloaded and installed all the tools suggested in
http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/Rtools/ , including ActivePerl 5.6.1.631.
I also downloaded the HTML Help workshop exe and installed it. During
install though, a message popped up to say that I had a newer version of

Installation of R in Windows
I tried to install R (V 1.9.1) on an XP Home Edition box with loads of disk space and 256 MB of RAM. During installation, I get messages stating that some files are corrupted. I used two copies of the install exe downloaded from different sites and still get the same messages at the same spots in the install. What do I need to do to get around this?
I ran md5sum on the downloaded exe file:

error compiling R-1.3.1 from source on WinNT
Dear R-help,
I have encountered some errors when trying to compile R-1.3.1 from source on
my WinNT4SP6 laptop (PII w/128MB RAM). I have installed all the tools
following the instruction in src/gnuwin32/INSTALL, with the exception that
the mingw compiler I have might be a bit older (they are the ones
recommended for R-1.3.0, I believe). I have also compiled the ATLAS

installing R packages in a networked lab?
Our support staff will be installing R 2.7.1 on a Windows Novell network
where R will reside on the server
rather than on the local lab machines or at best will be in an image
that is copied to the local machines.
I want to suggest a set of additional packages that should be installed
as part of the image beyond
the base and recommended packages.
Once this is done, the image will be frozen
