R check passes code and docs that don't match
I have code and documentation that don't match, but R CMD check didn't
flag it.

undefined symbol: Rf_rownamesgets
I get the error
undefined symbol: Rf_rownamesgets
when I try to load my package, which include C++ code that calls that
function. This is particularly strange since the code also calls
Rf_classgets, and it loaded OK with just that.
Can anyone tell me what's going on?
For the record, I worked around this with the general purpose
attribute setting commands and R_RowNamesSymbol. I

stable, testing, and backports
The cran2deb archives target testing.
I just pulled a package from them onto a stable system; the library
loaded but said

Rd output garbled in some circumstances
I'm having trouble getting correct help output in some circumstances for
a package I've created. Though this is not an issue with the current R,
I would like my package to work with previous ones as well.
I'm looking for suggestions about how I could rework my .Rd file so that
it will work with prior R's. In particular, R 2.7 is in the latest

R CMD check: Error in .C
Function/file names are hypothetical. Say I have written myfunction.R,
which calls myfunction.c via .C("myfunction", ...).
I've compiled successfully myfunction.c via R CMD SHLIB myfunction.c
in the terminal. Then, in the R console:
dyn.load("myfunction.so")
source("myfunction.R")
test <- myfunction() # works fine
So everything is in order, myfunction works

Dear friends,
I am building an R package called *mypackage*. I followed every possible
steps (to my understanding) for the same. I got following problem while

Rgeneric.py assists in rearranging generic function definitions
I've attached a script I wrote that pulls all the setGeneric definitions
out of a set of R files and puts them in a separate file, default
allGenerics.R. I thought it might help others who find themselves in a
similar situation.

Problems with checking documentation vs data, and a proposal
I have a single data file inputs.RData that contains 3 objects. I
generated an Rd page for each object using prompt().
When I run R CMD check I get
* checking for code/documentation mismatches ... WARNING
Warning in utils::data(list = al, envir = data_env) :
data set 'gold' not found
(gold is one of the objects).
This appears to be coming from the codocData function defined in

R CMD build and vignettes

says that R CMD build creates the pdf from a .Rnw file. But when I do R CMD
build followed by R CMD check it gives me a warning that there is a vignette
without a PDF. My query is : when

R-alpha: RData in batch
Just a word to mention that I have lost 2 hours yesterday to find out why
R refused to use a function from a package calling C-code.
R invariably answered that the C code was not in the load table (something
like this). I have tried everything (or nearly) to solve my problem
knowing that this same package used to work on my computer at the
university.

R CMD check error with the GNU Scientific Library
I have been working on an R package that calls C code using .C(). I recently
started including some functions from the GNU Scientific Library in my code.
The code runs fine on my machine when not wrapped in the package. But I get the

R CMD check creates a syntax error
Using R Version 1.6.2 (2003-01-10) I did R CMD check. The package I
was checking includes an .Rd file with an example.
My package test directory included a file foo-Ex.R whose first line was
WARNING: ignoring environment value of R_HOME
There are some problems with this:
1. R_HOME is not set.
2. The line is a syntax error, causing the test to fail.

R CMD check does not work for me under Windows. This is the error
