NameError Exception
Ruby/Rails n00b here so go easy on me...
I''ve been wracking my brain trying to figure out what is wrong here.
I''ve checked all my models for the appropriate belongs_to, has_many,
etc. I''ve checked to make sure I''m using singular and plurals in the
right spot. I''ve checked my syntax around all my "within"''s and nothing
seems to fix

Dovecot proxy: per user/domain 'namespace/inbox/prefix' from MySQL
As a way to try and avoid using "prefix = INBOX." ad infinitum for the
inbox namespace, I'm looking for ways to move on to "prefix =" for new
mail accounts, and grandfather the existing ones. Previously running
Courier-IMAP, now Dovecot, I looked at
https://wiki.dovecot.org/Namespaces#Backwards_Compatibility:_Courier_IMAP
and decided it's too risky to go down that

Sqlite3 migration and CURRENT_TIMESTAMP
I''m trying out migrations for the first time, and I''m having a problem

def self.up

t.column :lname, :string
t.column :created_at, :string, :default =>

on_update current_timestamp in Migrations
Is there any way to set database columns to auto update a timestamp
column on update?
Can I do something like
t.column "timestamp", :datetime, :default => :current_time, :null
=> false, :on_update => :current_timestamp
or do i need to just use custom sql like
sql = "ALTER TABLE `table` CHANGE `timestamp` `timestamp` TIMESTAMP ON
UPDATE CURRENT_TIMESTAMP NOT NULL

a2billing problem with call duration
Regards!
During the use of areski a2billing software I'm getting same problem all the time.
Actually, after 15 minutes of speaking to someone over calling card, connection brakes.
Installation was as smooth as it could be so I don't think I made same kind of a mess in that domain. This is the only problem in the aplication.
In the logs everything seems to be fine.

I am totally new to rails and I am trying to start a
tiny project to get familiar with rails. But I already
got my first problem and I would be happy if somebody
could point me in the best and cleanest direction.
I am trying to develop a small gallery app. Since I
would like to add more features in future I am trying
to design a clean OO architecture of my models:

Migrate default now()
I want to set default value to current time of database:
class CreateUsers < ActiveRecord::Migration
def self.up
create_table :users do |t|
# ...
t.column :created_at, :timestamp, :null => false, :default => ''now''
end
end
#...
end
On postgresql, it is converted to:
created_at timestamp NOT NULL DEFAULT ''2006-04-25

tinyint(1) and boolean
So i had a boolean attribute in my model which gets interpreted to
tinyint(1) in mysql by rails migrations. Now tinyint(1) accepts a
range in mysql and i want to change my boolean attribute to an
attribute which can accept 3 values(0,1,2).
I made the change to the view and when i post the form selecting the
selecting the value ''2'', it still gets saved as a ''0''.

A little problem handling logicals in RMySQL under R1.6.1
There is a little problem in handling logicals in RMySQL:
# here is the MySQL connection

<MySQLConnection:(1816,0)>
# here is the data frame

x y
1 TRUE FALSE
2 FALSE TRUE
# as promised, the two data frame columns are identified as logicals and
# the field types are set to tinyint

I need some help joining data from 3 MySQL tables, please
Hi all,
I am trying to display collective data from 3 MySQL tables:
The query I have, so far, is
SELECT c . * , COUNT( m.id ) AS `members`
FROM `jos_mls_teams` AS `c`
LEFT JOIN `jos_mls_teams_members` AS `m` ON m.teamid = c.id
RIGHT JOIN ( SELECT u.name, u.lastvisitDate FROM `jos_users` AS `u` )
ON u.id = m.userid
GROUP BY c.id
LIMIT 0 , 30
But get the following error:

Four Days on Rails
I''ve been reading the tutorial and I have problems with the TinyInt(1) for the attribute "item.done". I thought this thread would be the best to post it. I''m using Rails 1.1.14. When in the partial template _list_stripes appears:

it always returns the

Is it a bug?
hi,Jean-Marc
In jitter.c, the function speex_jitter_get has such code,
if (late_ratio_short > .1 || late_ratio_long > .03)
{
jitter->shortterm_margin[MAX_MARGIN-1] +=
jitter->shortterm_margin[MAX_MARGIN-2];
jitter->longterm_margin[MAX_MARGIN-1] +=
jitter->longterm_margin[MAX_MARGIN-2];

rails boolean and mysql tinyint(1) question?
this may seem silly but i just noticed that if in mysql the column
which is a tinyint(1) happens 2 or greater, by a chance of glitch or
corruption in the database(i did it manually ofcourse but i am
speaking hypothetically), rails would see it as false. but i find that
really wrong seeing how in mysql it sees any non-zeroes as true.
i really think if it does happen to be any number other than 1

that I can run a long test, occassionally, that migrates everything to
MySQL and retests it there. That will prevent nasty surprises at
deployment time. But that''s not the current question!)
Because I don''t

Mailbox password change problem on realtime engine
Hello,
I am struggling with what seems a common unresolved problem, changing the
password from voicemailman when using a realtime engine (adaptive_odbc in
my case, connected to mysql).
I have seen messages dating back to 2007 with this problem and the last one
was bug 5168, reported as closed, but without explaining the fix

Newbie - ActiveRecord relationships
So I''ve worked through Agile Web Development with Rails and I''m now
trying my first little app to get into the swing of things. Its a task
tracking app where people can create tasks and assign them to others,
and also log time against the tasks.
I''m having trouble working out the model relationships. This is what
I''ve got so far, but its not right as
