Help using gPath
Hi everyone,I'm trying to figure out how to use gPath and the documentation is not very helpful :( I have the following plot object: plot-surrounds:: background plot.gTree.378:: background guide.gTree.355:: (background.rect.345, minor-horizontal.segments.347, minor-vertical.segments.349, major-horizontal.segments.351, major-vertical.segments.353) guide.gTree.356::

Problem with llines in lattice
Dear r-help list members, I'm experiencing problems getting type="b" (or "o" or "c") to work in llines(). Try, e.g., the following scaled-down example: x <- factor(c("a", "b", "a", "b")) y <- c(1,2,1,2) z <- factor(c("A", "A", "B", "B")) symbols <- 1:2 lines <- 1:2

new versions of grid and lattice
Hi There are new versions of the grid and lattice packages on CRAN: grid 0.2 and lattice 0.3-0 These packages are still _under development_ (they are in CRAN/src/contrib/Devel) There have been some bug fixes and, especially in lattice, there are lots of new features. Descriptions of the changes are included below. If you have any grid code, it may break under the new version because of a

Grid newbie: aligning & scaling viewports
Oh Knowledgeable Ones: I'm working on a project using grid graphics (for the first time). A toy example is given below, run it simply with >foobar() I am wondering why the pink dot and concentric circles are not centered on the 3-color axis system. Further, I feel like the concentric circles don't have the intended radius - if my math is right, the outmost circle should touch the

text length in grid
Hello! I first would like to compliment the authors of grid on what has been a wonderfully useful package for me. Now, my question: Is there any way I can specify the size of some grid.text using grid units? I must label the regions of a plot. The regions can be either very small or very large, so I would like to label each by fitting its text to the size of the region in question. Ideally, I

clipping viewports
Dear useRs, Why are the rotated blue and yellow boxes in the example below clipped outside of 6 x 6 inch window in the middle of the page?? Where does the 6 x 6 inch window come from? I would like to make use of the entire page. > library(grid) > pdf(file = "FarmMaps.pdf", paper = "a4") > pushViewport(viewport( + width = unit(7.6, "inches"), height =

animated grid graphics
I need to make a fairly complex animated graphic and decided to use grid for it. A very simple example of what I need: ##============================================================================== library(grid) grid.newpage() pushViewport(plotViewport()) pushViewport(viewport(xscale = extendrange(c(0, 100)), yscale = extendrange(c(0, 100)))) grid.xaxis() grid.yaxis()

Hmisc: xYplot and panel.lines
Using the Hmisc package, I tried to create an xYplot (single panel only) and was confused to find that I could not add anything else to the plot (abline, lines, etc.). Thankfully, [1] points out panel functions. This works as expected for panel.abline, but as soon as I'm using panel.lines (or llines or lpoints) from the "lattice" package (version 0.17-17 with R 2.8.1), it

Need help with xspline error message in R 2.6.1 on Windows XP
I am attempting to generate a series of plots with cubic B-Splines and the code I am using is generating the following error message that I have been unable to resolve. Error in grid.Call.graphics("L_xspline", x$x, x$y, x$shape, x$open, x$arrow, : add_point - reached MAXNUMPTS (25200) This is the code that generates this error. plot.results <- function(dfn) { dt <-

Apparent different in symbol scaling between xyplot and grid.points
Dear R-users, For the past few days, I have been trying to find the reason why some of my plots were showing symbols of different sizes, while I thought I was using the same .cex arguments everywhere. The problem is exemplified by the following example code where the xyplot and grid.points functions are used. The scaling factor is set to 0.84 in both the functions settings, but one can see

table in x-y diagram
Hi, i'm plotting some "bubbles" in a x-y diagram. I like to add a table like: cl80m <- aggregate(cl80,list(Cluster=cl80[,10]),mean) but, put it with: grid.text(as.data.frame(cl80m), x = unit(0.5, "npc"), y = unit(0.5, "npc")) i get it as list and not really to read. Have anybody more experience, add small table's (6-9 rows, 3-8 colums) in a corner of a

Window on a vector
Dear all, I have a large vector (lets call it myVector) and I want to plot its value with the logic below yaxis<-myVector[1] yaxis<-c(xaxis,mean(myvector[2:3]) yaxis<-c(xaxis,mean(myvector[4:8]) yaxis<c(xaxis,mean(myvector[9:16]) yaxis<c(xaxis,mean(myvector[17:32]) this has to stop when the new ..... yaxis<c(xaxis,mean(myvector[1024:2048]) will not find the correspondent number

Forestplot () box size question
Hi All, I have been able to modify the x-axis to start at zero by adding xlow and xhigh parameters; that was pretty simple. I have been unable to find the location of the code that would turn off the information weighting of the box size (I have smaller randomized trials getting less weight than a much larger non-randomized trial). The function is forestplot() from rmeta. Thanks for any

line endings in lattice plots: square vs. round
I would like to use llines() to draw lines with square endings in lattice plots. But the default behavior seems to be to draw lines with round endings. How can I change this? I'm looking for a parameter like par('lend') or get.gpar('lineend'), but trellis.par.get() doesn't seem to have anything analogous. I searched the archives but saw nothing on this. I'm

How to put text outside an xyplot?
Dear R-users, I have a plot created with the code below. I tried to put some text to the right of the color key. I worked with grid.text and also viewport(), but couldn't achieve this. I know this should be simple, but I just couldn't figure out how to do it. How does this work? Cheers, Marius library(lattice) library(grid) myvec=1:10 data=data.frame(x=myvec,y=myvec)

boxplot and xlim confusion?
I have some code as shown below. Basically, I would like three boxplots to be set next to each other with no ylabels on the two "inner" plots, and I want the same x axis range on all three. However, it seems like boxplot does not respect the xlim setting. I've tried the various ways I thought would work (par, boxplot(...xlim=)) but none of them seem to work. I then tried plot.window,
