rgl installation problems
Hi!
I'm new to R, but have worked with Splus before. I installed several
packages in R (R-1.9.1) without problems, but when I try to install rgl
(rgl_0.64-13.tar.gz). I get the following, and the package does not install.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm running R in redhat 9.
Thanks,
Enrique

rgl installation problems
It is indeed the following problem. I used the RPM installation as of July 20, 2004 and had the same problem installing rgl. After fixing the following line in the Makeconf file ("-share" is missing), the installation of rgl went successfully.

Installing rgl on linux
Hi,
I'm new to R. I installed several packages in R (R-1.9.1) without
problems. I am trying to set R up to use Rcmdr, all I need now is rgl -
unfortunately I can't get it to install. There is a previous message
regarding this issue from June but even with information in those
answers I get stuck.
I have attempted to install rgl form within R and from a shell using the
tarball

Installing rgl in R2.0.1
I'm running R2.0.1 under Solaris 2.9 on a SunBlade 100.
When I installed it, I set things up to use the Sun compilers
cc, CC, f95 with the options recommended in the installation and
administration guide.
Until today, no worries.
With all this discussion about R GUIs I thought I'd give R Commander a go.
The web page said to install a bunch of packages first, so I did

I was willing to use the library "rgl" to plot some 3D graphics, but unfortunately, I wan't able to instal the library. The error message is below.
I would be very grateful if you could give me any clues about how I can solve this.

I presume 'R 3.7.0' is R-devel: it is not released and may never be
released under that version.

RGL package installation problem on Centos
Dear R users,
I have installed the latest version of R from source on Centos (using
configure and make install).
This seemed to work fine, with no Errors reported and R at the command line
starts R.
However, if I try and installed the package rgl using;
install.packages("rgl")
I get the following error;

compiling the package from source.
I'd be grateful if someone can help me solve the
problem.

Sys.sleep() burns up CPU on Solaris 8
I noticed that R was burning up 100% of a CPU when a call to Sys.sleep()
was made. Upon investigation, I discovered that R_checkActivityEx() in
src/unix/sys-std.c was putting the entire timeout (in usec) into the
struct timeval tv_usec member, leaving tv_sec set to 0.
I don't know about other unix variants, but Solaris requires that the
timeout value be normalized (i.e. 0 <= tv_usec

I have tried installing "rgl" with the usual command:
R CMD INSTALL rgl_0.67-2.tar.gz
Differently from what happened last time I have succesfully installed this

qt3.3 is default in environment, I want it to be qt4
At the current time, the environment is using qt3 values, as in
$ env | grep QT
QTDIR=/usr/lib/qt-3.3
QTINC=/usr/lib/qt-3.3/include
QTLIB=/usr/lib/qt-3.3/lib
$ env | grep PATH
PATH=/usr/lib/qt-3.3/bin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/lib/ccache:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/home/pauljohn/bin
I also have QT4 installed, and I want programs to find those libraries
and include files instead of these ones.

64bit build on IBM
I am trying to build R with 64bit support so I can access more than
2GB of memory on an IBM running AIX. (IBM NightHawk II RS/6000 node with 16
64-bit, 375-MHz POWER3 CPUs and 32 GB of memory, if you want specifics)
The 32bit install required little tweaking, but the 64 bit is sufficiently
complicated that I thought I would report my findings here and ask for
help with the latest (and hopefully

How quickly are RHEL errata released as CentOS errata ?
Hi,
I am deciding on what 'RHEL clone' to use and prefer to use one that has a
quick release after RedHat releases an update.
I checked the repositories, but have not encountered any of the latest
errata. Am I looking at the wrong place ?
Thanks,

RAqua and AquaTclTk
While playing around with panther I discovered (with surprise) that
tcltk seems to work (even if not smoothly) with RAqua without first
calling tkStartGUI.
I switched back to 10.2.6 and it works as well.
I think this is due to the "last minute" fix in RAqua now using idle
timers because of too much cpu usage.
Some "mouse" trick is needed though. If you want to test it you
