":::" operator doesn't work with data object Ecdat:::Crime
????? The ":::" operator doesn't work for me with "Ecdat:::Crime" on
either macOS 10.15.3 or Windows 10.
????? A different but related issue is that "plm::Crime" says "Error:
'Crime' is not an exported object from 'namespace:plm'", even though
"library(plm); data(Crime); Crime" works.? I would naively think a user

Methods for showing statistics over space
Hi,
I have a question which is a little off-topic but then again, it should stay in the boundaries of what can be done with available R functions.
Has anyone pointers to tutorials or the like where one can get inspiration on how to visualize some "spatial" statistics?
I want to analyze different statistics of 60 counties in a country. I have a shape file for those counties thus I can

graphs superimposed on pictures?
Hi:
I am doing some work that involves plotting points of interest
superimposed on photographs and maps. I can produce the plots fine in R, but so far
I have had to do the superimposition externally, which makes it tedious to do exploratory work.
I have looked to see if there is some capability to put a background picture on a plot window,
but I have not found anything.
Advice, anyone?
Cheers

building packages: hhc.exe not found using xp
Hello,
Apologies in advance if this should be in R-devel, not Rhelp. I did read through the R-devel thread started by Gabor Grothendieck in September of this year - I am getting the exact same error using a new computer that has XP installed, not vista, complaining that the file hhc.exe is not found. I have downloaded the hhc.exe to HTML Help Workshop dir in Program Files but it says that

hhc.exe compiles .chm files, but does not index properly
Hello,
I've spent a while reading about configuring WINE for use with hhc.exe to create .chm files. These instructions almost work:
http://code.google.com/p/htmlhelp/wiki/HHW4Wine
But, when comparing the Windows-generated .chm to the Linux-generated .chm, the Linux-generated one does not have sorted or consolidated index entries. It seems that whatever part of the process is responsible for

Building latest version of package
Hi
I have a package which was built using R 1.9.1 and everything worked
fine. I recently upgraded to R 2.0.1 and tried to re-install my package

installed < 2.0.0?
So I tried rebuilding it using my new version of R:
R CMD BUILD --binary mypackage

problem building R packages in windows xp
Dear R users,
I am having problems building R packages in Windows xp. I have followed the
instructions from Peter E. Rossi in Documentation -> Other, except for the
TeX version (fpTeX), since when I go to the recommended webpage, it is said
that fpTeX has been discontinued. I have MikTeX in my computer, and I have

Installing packages from source on WindowsXP
Hi,
I'm having some problems installing packages from the source files on
Windows, using R CMD INSTALL pkg. I'm running WindowsXP, and I've
followed the instructions as per the README.packages file from the R
installation. I ran into a hitch, with the install failing following a
"hhc: not found" warning. I figured out that this was related to the
html help workshop.
