asypow.noncent: how does it work?
I am trying to do power calculations for the proportional odds model using the asypow library.
The code
noncenta90b10<-asypow.noncent(theta.ha=a9010,info.mat=infomatrixa90b10,constraints=constrt)
returns
Error in max(..., na.rm = na.rm) : invalid "mode" of argument.

fit.mult.impute and quantile regression
I have a largish dataset (1025) with around .15 of the data missing at random overall, but more like .25 in the dependent variable. I am interested in modelling the data using quantile regression, but do not know how to do this with multiply imputed data (which is what the dataset seems to need). The original plan was to use qr (or whatever) from the quantreg package as the 'fitter'

Appropriate tests for logistic regression with a continuous predictor variable and Bernoulli response variable
I have a data with binary response variable, repcnd (pregnant or not) and one predictor continuous variable, svl (body size) as shown below. I did Hosmer-Lemeshow test as a goodness of fit (as suggested by a kind “R-helper” previously). To test whether the predictor (svl, or body size) has significant effect on predicting whether or not a female snake is pregnant, I used the differences between

plot(summary) within quantreg package
Quantreg package allows to plot the summary of models derived by quantile
regression at different taus.
The plot shows the parameters variation by varying taus: intercept and slope
(for a linear model).
Together with these values even confidence intervals may be plotted, based
on the threshold given within the summary (e.g. alpha=0.01 equals 99% CI).
However the graphic even plots the mean of

Limiting stream bandwidth
I am trying to limit the bandwidth per stream so that I can stream 2 mp3 connections from my box. I have 256 upload speed. I am using icecast 0.3 and ices 2. I made the changed listed below, restarted everything but it still seems to be streaming at max bandwith. Is there anything, besides moving to ogg vorbis -- it will happen when I have time to write the script to convert the 1000s of files

frequency tables and sorting by rowSum
Dear list,
I have some trouble generating a frequency table over a number of vectors.
Creating these tables over simple numbers is no problem with table()
> table(c(1,1,1,3,4,5))
1 3 4 5
3 1 1 1
, but how can i for example turn:
0 1 0
0 0 1
0 1 0
1 0 0
0 1 0
1 0 0
into
0 0 1 1
1 0 0 2
0 1 0 3
My second problem is, sorting rows and columns of a matrix by the rowSums/colSums.
I did it

pre-newbie - some basic questions...
Hello All,
Been completely obsessed for the last two days with VoIP and Asterisk - running on 2 hours sleep and coffee - sorry if this is a little scattered...
Okay, I've got a small start-up company that installs traditional PBX (Nortel mainly) systems, data network infrastructure, commercial audio/video, residential audio/video/voice/data and we do lighting control systems...
I've

Quantile regression: Discrepencies Between optimizer and rq()
Hello Everyone,
I'm currently learning about quantile regressions. I've been using an
optimizer to compare with the rq() command for quantile regression.
When I run the code, the results show that my coefficients are consistent
with rq(), but the intercept term can vary by a lot.
I don't think my optimizer code is wrong and suspects it has something to do

package quantreg behaviour in weights in function rq,
Dear all,
I am having v.4.36 of Quantreg package and I noticed strange behaviour when
weights were added. Could anyone please explain me what if the results are
really strange or the behavioiur is normal. As an example I am using dataset
Engel from the package and my own weights.
x<-engel[1:50,1]
y<-engel[1:50,2]
w<-c(0.00123, 0.00050, 0.00126, 0.00183, 0.00036, 0.00100,

quantreg::rq.fit.hogg crashing at random
Dear all,
I am using the "rq.fit.hogg" function from the "quantreg" package. I have
two problems with it.
First (less importantly), it gives an error at its default values with
error message "Error in if (n2 != length(r)) stop("R and r of incompatible
dimension") : argument is of length zero". I solve this by commenting four
lines in the code. I.e. I

Fallout New Vegas no longer working
All, in 1.3.26 F:NV won't go into the game after you select new game or continue. The circle "loading" screen appears but then then stops and that's it.
There are no errors in the console as well beyond what you normally get in 1.3.24. So before I run some regression tests if I get the time I was hoping to find out the debug channels I should load to see what's going on?

aggregating daily values
Hi,
I swear I have read almost all the posted messages about this issue, but
it's evident I couldn't find an answer (surely esay) to my problem. What
I want is the following:
Make 8 days aggregates from a daily series like this (dput output):
structure(c(6.91777181625366, 0.79051125049591, 9.00625133514404,

New to Wine...and already in trouble...
Hi
I've installed Wine on my openSUSE 11.3 x64 box. I'm trying to install Sage Instant accounts but keep getting the Error 1628 message.
I've been searching most of the evening and trying the various fixes (run from command line, rename the InstallerShield folder etc) but to no avail.
Do I just need to accept that Sage Instant won't work and go back to the (slow) VirtualBox?

Quantile Regression for Longitudinal Data:error message
Quantile Regression for Longitudinal Data.
Hi,
I am trying to estimate a quantile regression using panel data. I am trying
to use the model that is described in Dr. Koenker's article. So I use the
code the that is posted in the following link:

I am trying to change the number quantiles being estimated.

I am trying to run a loop in my codes, but the software returns an error: "subscript out of bounds"
I dont understand exactly why this is happenning. My codes are the following:

set.seed(180185)
nsim <- 10
mresultx <- matrix(-99, nrow=1000, ncol=nsim)
mresultb <- matrix(-99, nrow=1000, ncol=nsim)
