Question about plotting related to roll-up
Hello R'ers, I have a large set of data which has many y samples for each unit x. The data might look like: Seconds Response_time ---------- ---------------- 0 0.150 0 0.202 0 0.065 1 0.110 1 0.280 2 0.230 2 0.156 3 0.070 3 0.185 3 0.255 3 0.311 3 0.120 4 .... and so on When I do a basic plot with type=l or the default of points it obviously plots every

ROracle issue with shared library and RMySQL
Hello, Someone posted this same issue back in May 2003 and hasn't yet resolved the situation. I hope someone can provide some additional light. After starting R I attempt to load the ROracle library and receive the following message: > library(ROracle) Error in dyn.load(x, as.logical(local), as.logical(now)) : unable to load shared library

OpenSSH 2.9p1 on Solaris 7 x86 problems
Dear sir- I have been trying to build and run OpenSSH 2.9p1 on Solaris 7 for x86. I tried with SunPRO 5.0 compilers and gcc 2.95.2. I am using zlib 1.1.3 and openssl-0.9.6a. In all cases I can get ssh to work for version 1. In no case can I get version 2 to connect. With the SunPRO 5.0 compiler the signature does not verify, with gcc, ssh dies in segmentation violation. I can provide more

R: R: Hidden Markov Models
Thank you for your prompt answer. The breathing signal observations are the amplitude values as a function of time and phase. According to our model the hidden states are the different breathing types. Subjects, whose respiratiion process is regular, are likely to breathe, keeping the same cycle pattern/type, for many consecutive cycles. therefore dwelling in the same hidden state. The more

markov regime switching models
Hi, I am looking for a package to estimate regime switching models (states following a markov chain). I found packages for Hidden Markov Models but I am looking for something a little different: In the HMM the conditional distribution of the observations (give the state) is a known distribution (normal or others), while the package I need should allow to set a conditional distribution (given the

How to help improving Wine?
Hi, I really did my best to understand how I can help improving Wine, but I did not succed. Well, everything started when I installed a win application on my Debian 3.1, Wine 2004.07.16 deb (clean install, no dlls). The application is ALOHA (http://www.epa.gov/ceppo/cameo/aloha.htm) It's a free application from US-Environment Protection Agency used for chemical emergency planning (I am an

[help] Can't Join Samba 2.2.3a to TNG+LDAP
I need to join my Samba 2.2.3a to a TNG Domain (which stores users and machines account into OpenLDAP) using it as a password server. Provided that TNG is working fine in authenticating users on W2K machines, once they are logged in they should (in my intentions) see Samba 2.2.3a shares. In order to do this I provided the following configuration for Samba: workstation = <tng_domain>

STUN vs NAT Helper
I'm wondering if anyone can recommend one over the other. I'm mostly interested in running open source solutions, so I would prefer if your recommendations are within the open source arena. Basically, I contemplated the idea of using SER as a NAT Helper and possibly as a SIP server for a portion of our user base. We prefer to have Asterisk in the mix because of the additional

hidden markov models
Dear R community, I am looking for an R package or other software to study hidden Markov models. I need to be able to incorporate multivariate emissions and covariates for the transition probabilities. The msm package seems almost perfect for my purpose, but I do not think it allows multivariate emissions. I will be grateful for your suggestions. All the best, -- Emilio A. Laca One

The aphid package for analysis with profile hidden Markov models
Hi folks, I'm pleased to introduce a new package called ?aphid?, for analysis with profile hidden Markov models in R. The package contains functions for multiple and pairwise sequence alignment for both nucleic acids and proteins (preferably in the DNAbin or AAbin format), model building, parameter optimization (Baum Welch and Viterbi training), plotting, file import & export,

markov models with msm
Hello, I'm working with a dynamic system that I've started to analyse using msm(I've emailed to chris, orignator of the program, separately, but maybe he's on holiday). The data is obtained from a large cohort of students and consists of a model of learning states that students pass through over a period of one school year. As analyzed with the msm program, the data shows 'no
