Stem Analyzer
Hi all, I am trying to implement a search that will use the Stem Analyzer. I added the Stem Anaylzer from the examples shown in another post http://ruby-forum.com/topic/80178#147014 module Ferret::Analysis class StemmingAnalyzer def token_stream(field, text) StemFilter.new(StandardTokenizer.new(text)) end end end The problem with the Stem analyzer is that when I search for a

Is indexing slower?
Hi - I upgraded to Ferret 0.11.3 from 0.10.13. I used to index 10,000 records in 10 secs. Now it takes 13 minutes. (That''s a factor of ~75x) Did something change in the flush semantics, or something? Thanks! Schnitz -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

GeoQuery with acts_as_ferret involved
So, I''m working on a search engine of sorts that restricts results to your local area. I can successfully return all entries within 15 miles of a particular point, and I can successfully return all entries that match a search query, but I''m having trouble combining the two together and doing pagination on them. Basically, for the range query, you do a SQL query that returns all

Two repeatable crash bugs in Ferret proper
Hi guys! Been reading this list for a while. I have two repeatable Ferret crash bugs, both seg faults. 1. The first bug appears to seg fault Ferret when you use quotes in a search argument (eg ''file_name:"file name"'') 2. The second bug appears to seg fault Ferret when you attempt to index text with very long tokens (above 256 chars). It may have something to do with

Multiple servers for one index
Hi, I''m currently trying to set up a solution involving multiple servers using the same index over nfs. The problem is that from what I have seen, ferret doesn''t support multiple processes writing to the same index. Using a DRb service is not an option since this would create a single point of failure. I tried using Ferret::Store::FSDirectory to create a write lock on the the

term vector blues
I have a lot of crashes when I try to use term vectors. Here''s an example, which crashes pretty consistently. This problem seems to be somewhat sensitive to platform... people on other OS''s and ruby versions have reported no error. I have seen this with ferret 0.10.13 and 0.10.14 on debian stable using ruby 1.8.2, but I have observed the same problem on various other systems as

DRb examples for vanilla Ferret?
Hi folks! Does anyone have any example code for using a DRb Ferret server? No AAF. Dave - is yours ready? I know Jens has one, but I was hoping for something more stand-alone. I assume Jens has a lot of other code in there. Schnitz -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Is there a limit on the size of a template?
Hello, I have recently run across the following error: /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/yaml/rubytypes.rb:315: [BUG] Segmentation fault This has happened after adding a particularly large template file with ruby 1.8.1. How to handle updates from other machine
Hi, Right now I''m having ferret index about 1.5million documents. I plan on rebuilding the index on another machine and then copying the index over to the webserver. I read in one of the other posts that ferret has to reopen the index to see any new changes. Is there a way to script this? My frontend is a RoR app using AAF. Thanks, Chris -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Trouble with custom Analyzer
Hi! I wanted to build my own custom Analyzer like so: class Analyzer < Ferret::Analysis::Analyzer include Ferret::Analysis def initialize(stop_words = ENGLISH_STOP_WORDS) @stop_words = stop_words end def token_stream(field, string) StopFilter.new(LetterTokenizer.new(string, true), @stop_words) end end As one can easily spot, I essentially want

Per field boost values - possible? working?
I''m making a simple business directory search and I want to boost the relevance of the ''name'' field over the ''address'' field - both stored in the same document in the same index. Ferret Segmentation Faults
Hi, I am getting a number of segmentation faults using Ferret 0.9.5, Fedora Core 5 and Ruby 1.8.4 I installed it with the recommended gem install ferret and example segmentation fault creation line would be as follows: @records = FerretConfig::INDEX.search("address_line_2:\"Dumbarton\"") I am also using acts_as_ferret and rails 1.15 but think this is an issue with
