rbind Missing Something: Need New Eyes
I don't see what's missing in my statements to add rows to a data frame and someone else will probably see what needs to be added to the statements. The data frame has this structure (without any data): $ PHYLUM : chr $ SUBPHYLUM : chr $ SUPERCLASS : chr $ CLASS : chr $ SUBCLASS : chr $ INFRACLASS : chr $ SUPERORDER : chr $ ORDER : chr $ SUBORDER :

Yes another "I can't open port 53 for Bind DNS"
Hi, It's just past 3am and for the past 6 hours I've been configuring a secondary name server to replace one that just crashed. My problem appears to be that port 53 is not open for some reason on my server even though I have this: [root at tribe etc]# netstat -an | grep ":53 " tcp 0 0 205.211.154.3:53 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN tcp

Diamond graphs
I apologise for starting a new thread, but we had a mail problem and I don't have the original message to refer to. Someone mentioned the new "Diamond Graphs" invented at Johns Hopkins. I haven't see the August 2003 issue of The American Statistician yet, but I _have_ read the press release. The press release is a bit of a stunner. I quote: "Who would have thought we

Giving AD group members access to Samba server
Here's my situation, hoping that some of you who are running Samba in an AD environment will have insight: Samba is acting as a member file server in an AD domain. In addition to the domain containing Samba, there are two other domains in the AD forest. All three domains have full trust between them. Each domain has a Global Security Group called ACAD_ENGR. Problem with the game "Pilgrim"
Hi, "Pilgrim" is a quite old, not very popular, adventure from "Arxel Tribe", designed for Windows 95. But is has a very good story, riddles and atmosphere and so I would love to play it. Unfortunately the game crashes at a specific point in the game, which did not happen on my old Win95-PC (doesn't exist anymore). For those who might be familiar with that games, its when

fortune() in .Rprofile conflicts with R CMD INSTALL
Hello, This is about fortune package, but I think that might be related also to base R, so I am sending to package maintainer and R-devel list. I have the following in my .Rprofile to break monotony of code writing library(utils) library(fortunes) fortune() detach("package:fortunes") so I get a fortune every time I start R. It seems that this conflicts with R CMD INSTALL in latest

RODBC Access limit?
I have been using RODBC to connect to an Access database to capture data to create plots. Recently I found incomplete charts. Upon investigation I discovered that the data retrieved stopped at 3276 rows (records) out of a table with over 5600 records. I've tried changing "max","buffsize", and "rows_at_time" but it still returns only 3276 rows. Is this a

Social Networking Search Google and Bing launches social search that I invented and developed at http://Find1Friend.com/ before running on Xapian. They copy inventors ideas and never gave credit to the inventor, the exact same way when I wrote first social networking site in 1999 at http://MyWBS.com , Friendster, MySpace, Facebook and others copied the idea, made tons of money, held hundreds
