need help with axis ticks
hi, i am using par(mrow=c(6,6)) function to get 6x6 plots on one screen. the problem that i am having is that the axis tick labels are far away from the ticks and going into previous plots (see attached figure). i need to know how can i reduce the distance between the ticks and their values (y axis values).the part of the code that i am using (after reading in the data) to create the top row is:

Can someone please explain why the last tick mark on this chart is not showing?
Hi all, I'm trying to log chart but with natural looking tick marks. My specifications are very specific -- it must indicate the lowest number's tick as well as the maximum. I've attached sample code and data for a particular case (and there are a few more like this) where the bottom tickmarks on the chart are not set to where I want them to be and yet they fit in the ylim range.

suppressing non-integer labels for plot x-axis
Dear R-helpers, I am having difficulty making R plot only integer labels on the x-axis of a simple graph. I want to plot the median values of a score on each of three occasions. alternate tick labels and tick marks with lattice xyplot
Hi, I would like to use xyplot to create a figure. Unfortunately, I cannot find documentation in xyplot to specify alternating the x-axis tick labels with the x-axis tick marks. Define tick mark width
Hello, Is there a way to define the width of the axis tick marks on traditionnal plots? I did not find anything specific on this topic in the help and par(lwd=...) does not affect the tick marks. I guess that using axes=FALSE and recreating the axis with the axis() command could do the trick but I wonder if there is no easier way. Thanks in advance Sebastien

fine grain tick marks for zoo plots

Plotting Hints - how to add minor tics on axes
Using the standard plotting routine in R, i.e. no special packages, is there a way to add in minor tics to the axes? Also, is there a way to make sure the major axes labels are at the origin? When I'm looking at a plot, the major axes labels are present, but it looks like they start a bit away from the origin on the plot. Thanks again for any info and feedback.

Getting tick positions
While writing a function that includes placing grid lines at the same position as the axis ticks, I found that the axis* functions don't return anything. Thus I have had to copy the appropriate function, removing the call to axis() and adding a line to return the tick positions. Is there a more elegant way to determine the tick positions on an axis? boxplot tick locations

inter tick distance
R colleagues, I am stumped. I would like the inter-tick distances to be the same on the x and y axes but cannot determine how to do so when the lower half of the y axis is not printed. Normalizing plot tick values
Hi, I have a plot whole tick values along the axis have a certain range 0 - x . I need to normalize this range without changing my data files. for e.g., if my plot has tick values at 10,20,30,40,50... i have to make this 2,4,6, etc. but without changing the plot data... I am hoping I can add something to the plot command that goes like tick values divided by a quantity. Any help is appreciated.
