Another Discovered/Undocumented feature of yumrepo - and a workaround
I was working with yumrepo, defining new entried and seeing them appear in /etc/yum.repos.d
After considerable tinkering, and with the sad discovery that resource { ''yumrepo'': purge => true } does not work,
I moved my working /etc/yum.repos.d to /etc/yum.repos.d-old and re-ran my catalog.
To my surprise, the repo entried were appended to /etc/yum.conf
Long story short:

Need serious help - unit testing without a database
I''ve created a model, let''s just call it Person
class Person
attr_accessor :first_name, :lastname
def full_name
@first_name + " " + @last_name
end
end
I''m using this in my Rails application. My Rails application does not
use a database of any kind, and this model is obviously not a subclass
of ActiveRecord::Base. I can''t unit test this

multiple keys table
probablly a newbie question:
Rails does not support a table with multiple keys ???
it seems that the ActiveRecord set_primary_key method can only set the
column name... (hope i''m wrong there)
example:
table A - P.K id, string name
table B - P.K id, string name
table C - P.K a_id and b_id, both are also foreign keys.
Thanks,
Amir.

coverage does not work
Hi,
I''ve installed coverage (gem install coverage) and try to run tests with
-rcoverage option on, but following error occurs:
ruby: No such file to load -- coverage (LoadError)
I try:
ruby -rcoverage mytest.rb
1. I have rubygems in evn var RUBYOPT
2. Gem seems to be installed properly (I can read doc via gems, the files
exist in the ../gem/... dirs)
Does anyone know what is the

Perplexing unit test issue
Because we''re now using views, I had to upgrade to mysql 5 on a
project using Rails 1.0. Updated my mysql gem accordingly (which
required upgrading xcode). Ruby 1.8.2, MacOS X (10.4.6)
Worked fine several times (even before updating the mysql gem, then
suddenly it just balked and stopped working, giving the spew below.
Have also dropped (and recreated) both the test and

[PATCH] merb-rakefile-more-dist-byebye.diff
In rev 410, "rake db:migrate" doesn''t run because the Rake tasks are
still looking for dist/
This patch removes all the references to dist/ that I could find.
Ez, consider this a full copyright transfer from me to you on this
and future patches; I''ll sign something official if you need it.

I tested all the new rakefile stuff, including installing, uninstalling

mofications to Rakefile SQL Server
I have made some modification to the Rakefile used by a Rails app to support
SQL Server.
The SQL Server versions of the database related tasks use scptxfr and
osqlwhich may require some installation depending on the grade of SQL
Server you
are using on your development platform.
What is the procedure for making patch to the fresh_rakefile?
Is it:
* svn checkout trunk
* modifiy fresh_rakefile

rakefile DEBUG changes
We use an environment variable to control whether or not to enable a
debug build of wxRuby. This was called simply DEBUG but I have renamed
it to WXRUBY_DEBUG.
I also added a second environment variable, WXRUBY_VERBOSE, which turns
on extensive console output that can help debug memory problems. It
prints a message any time an object is created, destroyed, etc. This
used to only be an option in

Comments on commit 1406 (rakefile changes)
Alex,
The changes to the rakefiles are causing me some problems building on
OS X. I am getting the following:
rake aborted!
undefined method `+'' for nil:NilClass
/Users/sean/Archive/Programming/wxRuby_Dev/wxruby2/rakefile:109
I will now go test on Windows

Rake aborted! on No Rakefile Found error
Hello,
On a command:
rake db:migrate
I get the "rake aborted!" error. The message is:
No Rakefile found (looking for: rakefile, Rakefile, rakebile.rb,

Checking my setup, I see that Rakefile.rb is in the expected path.
Why can''t rake see Rakefile.rb,

Can someone PLEASE tell me if there is a solution to improving the prepare
time for this DB ?

Deploying Rakefiles?
My rakefile contains some tasks that are dev only. For example, test/
rails. Of course, test/rails is not present on the production server so
running rake breaks.
What are others doing? Do you have a dev and a production rakefile? Do
you have conditional requires? How about your tasks/ directory -- how do
you keep that clear of any tasks that rely on things only present on
your dev

Wierdness with rake test_units and schema.rb
I have just migrated to use Rail 1.1 from 1.0.
In the progress of fixing and cleaning up the unit tests. I found the
following problem. I am not sure if this is a bug or it is my
environment.
When I run "rake test_units, some of the index in association tables is
not created, this leads to failures for some unit test cases.
Thinking that may be because I didn''t setup the

1.9.3 release, rakefile
Hi
I''d like to put out a 1.9.3 release perhaps later this week/weekend. If
you have a chance to test the build and samples esp with latest
rubygems, please do.
There are still some bugs on the list, and samples to do, but this
should address all the build/install probs that have come up. And it
would be good to get some testing and feedback on some of the new classes.

rake test_units slow on startup
Hi
Running ''rake test_units'' using the simple example from the intro video is
very slow on my computer. While the tests claim to execute in 0.17 secs,
the startup time ad 5.3 seconds to the overall job.
On the video, these tasks ran in about 1 second. (Maybe David was doing
the tests on a dual proc mac or did some video editing, who knows.)
But, I don''t think it should
