please help with estimation of true correlations and reliabilities
Can someone point me to literature and/or R software to solve the following problem: Assume n true scores t measured as x with uncorrelated errors e , i.e. x = t + e and assume each true score to a have a certain amount of correlation with some of the other true scores. The correlation matrix cx of x will have its off-diagonal entries reduced by measurement error compared to the true

please help with estimation of true correlations andreliabilities
Dear John, Dear Joseph, Thank you for your quick answers and the pointer to semnet. I try to clarify on my assumptions: - yes, I am willing to assume multivariate normality - no, I don't want to assume a single factor model - I assume there is an unknown number of factors, and I do not know which items belong to which factors but I still want to estimate single item reliabilities Is this

Cannot Load A Package
Hi All, I am trying to download semnet package but getting the error: package not available for R version 3.4.4. I tried downloading it from install.packages('semnet',repos='http://cran.us.r-project.org') and install.packages('semnet',repos='http://cran.revolutionanalytics.com/') and even the https://cran.r-project.org/src/contrib/semnet.tar.gz but doesnt seem to

autocorrelation and levinson-durbin
hi, am trying to understand speex's algo. have a few questions. 1) autocorrelation: in the function, _spx_autocorr (for floating point version), there is a line ac[0] += 10; correct me if i am wrong, i suppose the addition of 10 is used to condition the autocorrelation matrix. wonder how the value of 10 is arrived at? 2) levinson durbin (LD) algo in the function _spx_lpc, i referred

Partial Correlation
Why do we get Partial correlation values greater than 1? I have used the default function pcor.mat :-- I have manipulated the default pcor.mat function a bit so ignore tha variables corr_type,element1_in_no,element2_in_no,P.Please ignore the ?pairwise? section and have a look at athe ?listwise ? part i.e else part. *pcor.mat <-

Error: system is computationally singular: reciprocal condition number
I get this error while computing partial correlation. *Error in solve.default(Szz) : system is computationally singular: reciprocal condition number = 4.90109e-18* Why is it?Can anyone give me some idea ,how do i get rid it it? This is the function i use for calculating partial correlation. pcor.mat <- function(x,y,z,method="p",na.rm=T){ x <- c(x) y <- c(y)

Sub_scribe and a question
Dear all, I am trying to get an estimate of the intercept for a linear model. In this case, I know the slope of the model, can anyone tell me how to constrain the formula in lm() so that it only estimates the intercept not the slope? Many thanks in advance, Sincerely, Liqing Zhang Dept. of Eco. Evol. Biol. Univ. of CA, Irvine email: lzhang at uci.edu >From VM Mon Apr 30 08:18:45 2001

Deutsche Telekom: calls dropped after 15 minutes
Hi list! My Problem: all calls to international numbers will be dropped after exactly 15 minutes... I have a VoIP-account by Deutsche Telekom. SEM: question regarding how standard errors are calculated
Sorry if this question has been asked previously, I searched but found little. There also doesn't seem to be a dedicated SEM list-serv so hopefully this will find its way to the appropriate audience. In discussing SEM with a colleague I mentioned that a model they were fitting in AMOS was equivalent to a linear regression and that the coefficients would be the same. This of course was the

Hence the recursion uses to be infinite (from "." to "." to "." ......). If recursiv = TRUE,

how to suppress the intercept in an lm()-like formula method?
I'm trying to write a formula method for canonical correlation analysis, that could be called similarly to lm() for a multivariate response: cancor(cbind(y1,y2,y3) ~ x1+x2+x3+x4, data=, ...) or perhaps more naturally, cancor(cbind(y1,y2,y3) ~ cbind(x1,x2,x3,x4), data=, ...) I've adapted the code from lm() to my case, but in this situation, it doesn't make sense to include an

accessing samba shares from a winpc sometimes as a readonly user and sometimes with writing abilities
hello everyone. i am trying to setup samba and there is a whole lot of option in doing things.. so i got somewhat overloaded:) the idea is that i want in my home network to setup a file server running samba (its a slackware v11 machine) and have all my music/video/office files on the server.. now, from a windows side i know that when u log onto a pc you will probably be asked to input a passwd.

Windows file permission abilities?
I'm potentially about to deploy a samba 3.0.11 file server on RHEL 3.4 or perhaps 4.0 and before i do i'm wondering if it can do a couple things. I read the howto and googled but didn't find exactly what i was looking for. Most importantly i'm wondering if it can implement the create dir/append to file permissions. My client wants users to be able to create files on the server

Complex abilities and scoping of records
I have the following scenario. Users have various levels of ability. They can only view and edit their own records (their profile). Their managers can only view and edit their employees records. The regional managers can view and edit only the people in their regions and the corporate headquarters can view and edit all records. There are multiple regions so somebody can be the manager of the

package incompatibility under 2.5.0 (please respond directly, I am not on r-devel)
Dear all, For my package "ref" I have implemented extensive regression testing. It now fails to compile since primitives "dim" and "dimnames" (and their assignment methods) no longer allow for additional arguments. I was using an additional argument "ref" with several methods. For "].refdata" it still works, with "dim.refdata" no longer.

Error in substring: invalid multibyte string
Thanks for the quick response Ivan. readLines with encoding='latin1' works for me (on Ubuntu). However I was more concerned with the inconsistency in results between substr and regexpr. I was expecting that if one of them errors because of an unknown encoding then the other should as well. Even better, if regexpr works, why shouldn't substr work as well? Incidentally the analogous
