summary table newbie question
I've got a newbie question and I got a little lost in the "table helps".
I've got a data.frame I would like to summarize as a (and pardon for the
lack of correct vernacular) data collection matrix. My data looks like,

colors and palettes and things...
After trying to find if there was a color picker in the FAQs and the help,
I thought I would send a post here. I was overwhelmed with all the
wonderful color choices R has predefined (discovered after typing in
colors()) but can't figure out what they all (by name) look like. Is there
a color picker or some other method to display all those colors next to
the name?
I think I can put together

R CMD check WARNING \usage question
I'm trying to update a package and would like to crush a WARNING message for a clean build.
I've been struggling with this question and haven't gotten any traction on the web either.
I've got a document file (Rd) that contains the following \usage statement:

I've been trying to figure out why the following is happening....
I've got some data I'll load in from a file...
rm(list=ls(all=TRUE))
trees <- read.table( "c:/cruisepak/data.txt", header=T)
trees$ct <- 1
And when I create some temp variable, then split the data to perform further
processing, the additional column doesn't maintain the data correctly....

httpd-access.log parsing and graph construction.
R gurus:
I'm thinking about using R for website traffic analysis but didn't find anything in my web searches specific to R.
If I have the webpages (simple example would contain something like three (3) static pages with a couple of links each) and parse the apache access log file (httpd-access.log), then I can populate the graph representing the website and perform whatever analysis I

xtable() with booktabs option problem
I could have sworn that yesterday xtable(file, booktabs = TRUE) was giving me toprule , midrule and bottomrule outout. Today :
library(xtable)
aa <- table( sample(letters[1:9], 100, replace = TRUE))
xtable(aa,
booktabs = TRUE)
gives me

paste in xtable
Dear R help:
I am trying to use paste(), within an ifelse() statement to insert latex
commands into an object that has been created using xtable(). I cannot
make the strings behave as I would like, the '\t' is creating a tab, the
usual method of '\\t' is not working either - nor is any series of
backslashes. The xtable object, I think, automatically alters the
strings. How

xtable with \begin{tabular} and only.contents
I have found that I like having my captions and labels in my latex document
rather than having them contained in my xtable output file (I haven't fully
gone to sweave yet). I know I can do something like this by using the
'only.contents' argument in xtable. Unfortunately, the only.contents
argument also removes the \begin{tabular}{rrrrrr} & \end{tabular} (in the
example below) of

Problem with xtable- rescaling a table
Dear R users,
I am new to Latex and I am using the R package xtable to generate tables.
I want to produce a table that is very long. in the landscape format, but
I would need to rescale the table so that it fits in the page. xtable
enables me to have the landscape format, but I cannot rescale it, and there
seems to be a problem, if I use scalebox in Latex on my output produced

Problem setting the number of digits in xtable
DEar list members,
I am currently using Sweave with LaTeX which is great.
I can use xtable for formatting outp of tables but I have a problem setting the number of decimals in xtables when used with dataframe.
I have found an example on the net ith matrix and it works.
For example this works :
> > tmp <- matrix(rnorm(9), 3, 3)
> > xtmp <- xtable(tmp)
> > digits(xtmp)

Un poco de ayuda con xtable
Hola, buenas tardes:
Necesitaba un poco de socorro con xtable, si fuese posible.
Mi problema es que quiero 'formatear' específicamente algunas celdas de
una tabla generada con xtable y no soy capaz.
Detallo el problema de ejemplo:
vv<-rbind(c(1,1,0,1),c(0,0,1,1))
vv[2,3]<-<-paste("\\textbf{",vv[2,3],"}",sep="")
xtable(vv)

plotting predicted values (lines) over data?
I've been trying to plot the predicted values, as a line, over the data for
a simple nonlinear fit with the following commands:
plot( hg ~ ht )
... define some function hg ~ ht + junk ...
... blah, blah, obtain parameter estimates and predicted values, blah...
... then...
lines( sort( $predicted ) ~ sort( ht ) )
which results in a line that isn't smooth (which I knew would happen).

Sweave not found from MikTeX?
I've been working on a LaTeX document that contains Sweave code and cannot
get MikTeX to find the Sweave.sty file. I've added the c:\rw1081\share\texmf
path in the MikTeX roots (I've ven added the path in the environment
variables ) but to no avail. Is there a trick to getting Sweave installed
correctly when using MikTeX on Windows XP? Do I need to move/copy the
Sweave.sty file to the
