help with plot layout
It takes a lot of sweat to generate a composite plot with R ... sigh. I though I was almost done when I met the umpteenth hurdle. I cannot place a nice title on the 2nd plot (raw signal) on the layout. I do not have control on where either the "main" option of "plot" function, or "title", place the text string which keeps dysplaying chopped from above. I also tried

A Question on lowess() function
Hi, all, I want to use lowess(x, y) where x and y are vectors of length of 4000+. In fact, x and y are log of some vectors. So, some of the elements are NaN. lowess() can not take away those elements then do the fitting. It will give the error message and do nothing. 1. Can anybody tell me how to get rid of those NaN's and use lowess()? 2. How to get the LOWESS fitting values for any

Std. errors of intercept and slope
Dear all, I have the following output generated by linear regression. Since there is only one regression intercept and one slope for one set of data, what is the meaning of std. error for intercept and that of slope? Thanks in advance. Sincerely, Minghua > data(thuesen) > attach(thuesen) > lm(short.velocity~blood.glucose) Call: lm(formula = short.velocity ~ blood.glucose)

Barplot+Table
I am trying to automate a report that my company does every couple of years for the state of Maine. In the past we have used SPSS to run the data and then used complicated Excel template to make the tables/graphics which we then imported into Word. Since there are 256 tables/graphics for this report, this work flow is a little painful. I would like to automate the process and I think I can do

I'd like the color table to be exactly the same. The way I proceded is the following: for one plot and the color-table png(file = png.file, width = 650, height = 800, pointsize = 16) layout(matrix(c(1, 2),

NA points in loess function
Gurus, I used predict(loess(Y~X)); where Y and X are of the same length. But there are same NA's in both Y and X. Those NA's are in the same locations in Y and X. The following is the error messageI got: Error in "[<-"(*tmp*, , i, value = predict(loess(Y~X))) : number of items to replace is not a multiple of replacement length If I replaced the NA's with a

large fonts on plots
Hi all, I need to enlarge te fonts used oo R-plots (plots, histograms, ...) in labels and titles etc. I seem to be unable to figure out how to do it. The problem is that the titles of the plots are simply unreadable when I insert them into my LaTeX text, since they are relatively small compared to the entire plot. I am sure it is pretty simple, can anybody give me a hint ? Please reply

multiple plots problem
hello, i try to plot 3 graphs which have the same x.axis underneath each other. i'd like the plots to be aligned without margings between the boxes and draw a single x axis beneath the lowest plot. i managed to get the alignment by setting par(mar), but the middle box is stretched and i cant't figure out how to get around this. par(pin) was my guess, but this doesn't do the job

plotting questions
I'm having some issues with using chron() objects for the x-axis in plots. ######### plot(chron(c("07/01/01","08/01/02")),c(100,200),cex.axis=5) ######### It doesn't seem to scale up the cex of the x-axis. Is there any way to scale these x-axis labels up? Also, I'm not sure but I don't believe I have even seen this behavior. #############
