Fatal Error: Invalid HOMEDRIVE
All,
I've encountered the same problem as others who have posted under the same
subject.
I've had R-1.8.1 installed and running since it was released. Yesterday
morning when I tried to start Rgui.exe I got the subject error message.
Since I live at the whim of the network administrators I can only assume it
was a recent MS critical update.
I tried installing R-1.9.0 but no joy.

Installation on Windows XP
R never gave me any serious problems until I tried to use it on Windows XP. I had 1.8.1 installed and working successfully for a few weeks. This morning when I launched it, I received this error message: "R for Windows GUI front-end has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I downloaded 1.9.0 and installed it, but when I launch it, I get this

'logon drive' questions
Hello list, I sent this about two weeks ago, but I didn't get an
answer... so I'm pushing my luck. :-)
QUESTION#1: What EXACLTLY causes the HOMEDRIVE, HOMEPATH, and
HOMESHARE variables? Something passed from Samab to the client, or
some thing the client does?
QUESTION#2: How/what/where/why is there a difference in the results
of click on "Command Prompt"?

Error with 1.9.0 - Invalid HOMEDRIVE
I installed R project 1.9.0 on Windows XP. The installation went well.
Then, I rebooted. Next, I clicked the icon under Programs in the Start
menu and received this error, "Fatal Error: Invalid HOMEDRIVE". I
clicked OK to the error message. The program does not start. I went to
a DOS prompt and did "echo %HOMEDRIVE%" and it returned "C:". This

Rgui, Startup, HOME, R_USER, ...
Hi,
Main objective: Let Rgui find my ~/.Rprofile and ~/.Renviron files,
where ~ is equal to getwd("~").
I have few comments/questions:
(A) On my WinXP Pro installation, the system environment variable
'HOME' is not availble to R, e.g. Sys.getenv("HOME") is empty. I
believe this is default case (correct me if I'm wrong). However, if I
set the "Start

ask for help
Dear colleagues,
I am a beginner of using R. I am involved in some microarray data
analyses and found that R is the most common software in this area. I
tried to install the free software today. It seemed to be successful in
installing, but when I trigger the short-cut, I got a error massage
saying 'Fetal error: invalid HOMEDRIVE'. I have no idea where the
homedrive was defined (or

invalid HOMEDRIVE
Hi all-
Some recent change...perhaps a windows update, or perhaps a change in
the network on which I use my computer....has made it impossible for me
to start R. When I try to start the program, I get a message that says
"Fatal error: invalid HOMEDRIVE". Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks much
Chris

setwd in windows
Dear friends - windows R 3.3.3 - sorry to ask a simple question - but I
cannot make setwd work properly in scripts
In the example below I have made a directory in C (firstdir) and a
directory in that (secdir) and the intention is to change directory to
the second from the first - it works when I put the entire path but not
the tilde - what am I missing? I was around rwf 2.14 as per the help

Windows Terminal server with samba and HOMEPATH
Hi to all
We have moved our users from an NT domain to a samba domain
We have changed our terminal server from the NT domain to the samba domain
All seems to work fine, but we have found a problem we don't have if we login
in the terminal server but in the NT domain.
In the terminal the system should create a windows folder under c:\documents
and settings\username to store some .ini

Installing/updating packages on a lab network
I'm the faculty member in my department who advises our IT staff on the
details of installing R for
students and faculty on our Windows 7 lab network. We are about to
upgrade from R 3.1.1 to
R 3.2.1, and once that is done, this version of R and all installed
packages will be frozen in the
image that appears in C:/Program Files/R/R-3.2.1/ on every lab computer,
and this image is

Error with 1.9.0 - winMenuAdd not usable in .Rprofile
I had this problem too. The documentation for the winMenus says that these
functions are part of the utils package. R must be loading this library
after it sources in Rprofile. If you add library(utils) to the beginning of
your .First function, it should take care of the problem.

Home folder: a simple mapping or something more?
Probably this email is connected with my previous one, about folder
redirection.
Looking at:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/User_Home_Folders
for AD there's three method to set home folder. ADUC and ldbedit is the
same, simply using different interfaces.
But setting a folder mapping via GPO, AFAI've understood, it is not exactly
the same as setting home folder.
Or better, setting a
