(PR#7277) Re: strange windows behaviour after changing
I can reproduce this in MDI. Another clue is that as the pager for
?merge is opened, the font in the console changes.
The console is still working: commands you type in it are accepted.
So the issue appears to be that the font in use has been changed
incorrectly (and it seems that the C code thinks it has been changed in
the preferences dialog).

Maximizar Consola de R al inicio
Hola Miguel Angel:
Primero que nada gracias por tu aporte.
Los parámetros del MDI que tengo en el fichero Rconsole son:
MDI = yes
MDIsize = 0*0+0+0

Minor GUI Issues
Some minor request for the R on Windows (2000) GUI version. I'm using
1.5.1 with the SDI interface.
(1) When minimized, the main R window and the graphics window show as two
copies of the same icon. That makes it less convenient to switch among
tasks in Windows, as I often select the wrong one. Could they have
different icons in the future, please?
(2) I use a fixed-width Type 1 font

Setting --sdi in R 2.3.0 beta for Windows
Dear r-devel list members,
I find that adding --sdi to the Target field in the short-cut for R is
ineffective in R 2.3.0 beta for Windows (version/platform details below).
Setting MDI = no in the Rconsole file works, however.
It's probably a bit late to request this for version 2.3.0, but it would be
nice to be able to select either the SDI or MDI in the R Windows installer.

Weird Windows startup menu display problem in 1.7.0 (PR#2817)
Folks:
Winnt; R1.7.0 (freshly installed) running under Rgui.exe.,MDI=yes.
The following is repeatable:
On startup, in my Rprofile.site file, I use winMenuAdd() etc. to install
some user menus. However, they do not appear when R GUI window opens. If I
minimize and restore the window, the added menus now are present.
The exact same procedure under 1.6.2 with exactly the same Rprofile.site and

Passing a pointer to .C() in Win32
Hi,
Is there any way to pass an integer from R to C and have
it cast as a pointer?

tt <- tktoplevel()
hWndString <- tclvalue(tkwm.frame(tt))
# I'll avoid posting code to this function:

hWnd <- hexStringToDecimalInteger(hWndString)

type.convert (PR#13646)

Submission from: (NULL) (213.185.163.242)
Hi there,
I recently noticed some strange behaviour of the command "type.convert",
depending on the startup mode used. But there also seems to be different
behaviour on different PCs (all running the same OS and the same version of R).
On PC1:

Maximizar Consola de R al inicio
Hola:

saving window size of a graphics device in windows possible?
In MDI mode of Windows, is it possible to save window size and other
parameter settings of a graphics device when it is activated, much like
Rconsole file?
By default the bottom part of a graphic device (windows()) is too big such
that it is hidden under the horizontal scrolling and status bar of Rgui. (Of
course I can use the vertical scrolling bar of Rgui to see the hidden part.)
So I select

Rconsole file fails to remember GUI settings, and script window text colour option is missing
Am encountering two related problems since the 2.15 release. Apologies in
advance for a mundane non code-related post, but you know how it is. I'm
using the basic R GUI.
1: I use a black environment for no glare, so pre-version 2.15 I've had
black backgrounds and white text. Since the 2.15 release my script window
text has colour turned itself black (so is now invisible) and now I

Permanently changing gui preferences
Greetings,
I made changes to my gui preferences and saved them. When I close and
then open R, it reverts back to default preferences. How do I
permanently change gui preferences?
Thanks in advance.

Rconsole file fails to remember GUI settings, and script
Sorry, I don't use Windows... can't help there.
It's customary to keep cc'ing the list on these sorts of things so
someone with a more similar platform/ more expertise can take the
issue up if needed. Maybe someone else will be able to help you out.

Changes in console preferences won't take
Greetings,
I've attempted to change the font size directly in Rconsole as well as
through the GUI preferences. Neither seems to take even when I save the
preference changes. When I make the change through the gui preference,
and click "apply" the change is made, but when I save it, close, and
reopen, there is no change. Any thouughts? I'm running R.2.40.

I had encountered a similar problem when changing the font in the R Console and
then then open the graphics device by plot(), the console window whites out.
this might be related to bug report 7271. I mentioned it sometime back and was
told is was not reproducible.
Now I have

Pre-release of R-0.64.1 for Windows
A pre-release of R-0.64.1 for Windows is available at
CRAN/bin/windows/windows-NT/pre-0.64.1.
Since there are a lot of Windows specific changes (see below for a list),
we hope that many Windows users of R will test this version and make comments.
REMARK: I am posting this message on r-help hoping to reach a larger number
of Windows users. But, please, replay or directly to Brian D. Ripley

R GUI for Linux?
Hello all,
I noticed that both Windows and OS X version of R have a GUI
(Rconsole). Is there a GUI for Linux? I'm running Debian on which
the CLI for R works just fine.

Bug in setting GUI to SDI mode?

I did a google search on this and came up with nothing.
OK, in the latest release of R for windows, I want to change the gui to
SDI mode.

Choose SDI

I get the message about properties not being able to be changed on a
running console, and that I need to save.
So I click Save, and am met with a "Save As" dialogue box with the
