R help search and Java(tm)?
I found this great search source("http://www.statslab.cam.ac.uk/~djw1005/Stats/Interests/search.R") helpHTML() Has (or will) this become the standard search method? Is R 'Free Software'? The dependence on Java seems a bit of a pain for 'freeness'. Did the above make it into CRAN? Cheers, Dan.

R search engine broken (PR#6653)
Full_Name: St?phane Gourichon Version: R 1.7.1 (2003-06-16). OS: GNU/Linux Submission from: (NULL) (132.227.205.226) The HTML help is great. But the search engine is broken. It used to work in Galeon 1.x, not Konqueror 3.0 . Now it doesn't work, neither on Mozilla 1.6 / Firebird 0.6 / Firefox 0.8 nor Konqueror 3.2 which are IMHO the latest versions of those advanced, standard-compliant

error using daisy() in library(cluster). Bug?
Hi, I'm using the cluster library to examine multivariate data. The data come from a connection to a postgres database, and I did a short R script to do the analisys. With the cluster version included in R1.8.0, daisy worked well for my data, but now, when I call daisy, I obtain the following messages: --------- Error in if (any(sx == 0)) { : missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed In

Trouble with HTML search engine & Mozilla Firebird
I'm having trouble with the HTML-based search engine, and I'd be grateful for any advice. I am using Mozilla Firebird 0.7 on Debian 3.0 with R 1.8.0. (I've also had the trouble with Mozilla Firebird 0.6 on Debian 3.0. I also use Mozilla Firebird 0.6 on Windows XP, and I have no trouble with the HTML-based search engine.) When I type help.start() in R, it brings up the proper search

Bug in cor.test - Spearman
Greetings. There seems to be a problem with the P-value computation in the cor.test with method="spearman". In R1.8.0 (MS Windows) I seem to be getting intermittently nonsense P-values, but the rho's are OK. I can get this reproducibly with the toy example attached where the first use is OK and subsequent calls with the same data give nonsense. (I have also seen the problem

win.metafile() problem -- possible bug?
As a followup to a previous posting regarding the win.metafile() function, I've been having some problems as well. In my case, I've been converting some scripts from S-SPLUS to R that create graphs in order to take advantage of R's plotmath capabilities. In the sample code shown below, the axis labels display the units for the data. In particular, the units for the y axis are

Java RE
Hello. Package Manager reports (with a green checkmark) that I have java-1.6.0 installed on my machine (running Cent 5.3), but it seems to not be running. I used http://java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml and got "Something is wrong. Java is not working." Perhaps I'm confused on which program I need to use java-coded apps. PM lists this app as "OpenJDK Runtime

using [i] to plot & label all vector elements
I'm using 1.6.2 on a win 2k box. (I know I'm due for an upgrade.) I've used brute force to label a series of vectors, and I'm wondering if there's a better way to do this. I wanted to create a biplot of the 2nd & 3rd PCs, and did this: test <- edit(loadings(cv.prc.spr)) test.1 <- test[,1] test.2 <- test[,2] test.3 <- test[,3] x0 <- 0 y0 <- 0 i <-
