Delay to join a domain successfully
Hi team,
I'm running samba 3.0.4 on AIX 4.3.3 and HP-UX 11.00 without any problems
except the following :
On HP-UX 11.00, when I try to join a machine to a domain, it first insert
all POSIX entries in the LDAP backend but rejects the junction. The
machine account could not be found. Waiting for a while and relaunching
the join command, the junction just works fine.

Reproducible duplicate messages bug with Mail.app+Dovecot
Hey guys,
I am not sure if this is a Mail.app bug or a dovecot bug. I can
reproduce it 100% of the time using dovecot and Mail.app. I cannot
reproduce it with other imap clients, which at first made me think it
was Mail.app, but then I tried Mail.app with other imap servers and
couldn't reproduce it either, so it's definitely the combination of
the two. So I thought

Thunderbird message cache out of sync after repetitive rsyncs...
Ok, hopefully there is a solution to this.
I've been experimenting with multiple rsyncs in preparation for pulling
the trigger on the mail server switch, but have a problem that I really
want to fox before doing so.
Apparently something causes Thunderbirds local message cache to get out
of sync with dovecot after a sync.
Here is the series of commands I'm running:

Problems with administrator account
Hi guys,
I am working with Aurelien.
On the DC, there is no UID/GID mapping (nsswitch not being modify as the
wiki say that on a DC it's not needed).
The primary group of Administrator is 513 (taken from the Attribute editor
on ADUC) primaryGroupID : 513 (Domain Users)
If i add Everybody to the Share tab, i can access to the security Tab and
edit permissions. As he said the only user

per share way to not follow msdfs links
Re-sending with right email...
msdfs root is set to "no" by default and is per-share.
[myshare]
msdfs root = no
path = ...
Should do the trick.
Otherwise if mounting on linux you can also use the 'nodfs' mount option
(mount.cifs //host/share/... /mnt/ -o ...,nodfs) to disable DFS
resolving and automatic sub-mounting.

Refresh streams without relaunching icecast.
How do you refresh a stream without relaunching, we would like to add new
mp3 into a root folder using m3u. We get that the m3u needs to be updated
but cant figure out how to use "
http://172.31.145.234:8000/admin/updatemetadata.xsl?mount=/stream"
For example the file would be: thisband - greatsong.mp3

Bug 12518 - smbclient -c 'cd <dir>; ls' for DFS generates STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER
This issue is reproducible for this customer and a couple of others. We execute the smbclient command the same way for each instance. The null user name is valid syntax sent from the smbclient. When we send the command " smbclient -c 'cd <dir>; ls' ", samba code executes starting with Negotiate Protocol Request, and onward. I'm guessing this could be a DFS issue, but

mount.cifs fails with protocol SMBv2.x on a DFS share
Hi Aurélien,
is there some documentation around where I can read about that? Where
can I find the information, that I need Kernel 4.11 or above to get DFS
with SMB2.0 / 2.1 / 3.0 and above working?

If Administrator doesn't have a uidNumber, it will not be known to the
Unix host, this is why you either have to give Administrator a uidNumber

Problems with administrator account
I have a mapping beetween administrator and root on my fileserver, i sent you yesterday. My administrator account didn't have uid.
I didnt have mapping or winbindd on my DC. The wiki says it's optional and i have separate my fileserver to my DC.
So id administrator didn't return anything on DC or on Fileserver.
My probleme is that :
Administrator is a member of "domain

Hai MJ,
Have you tried:
apt-get install cifs-utils if its not installed.
man mount.cifs ( if cifs-utils isnt installed no mount.cifs on debian.)
And test with :
mount.cifs //server/share /mnt/point -o vers=2.1

FW: Weird Samba/CIFS behavior: client hangs
Ohhhh, thanks for the link to that kernel bug.
6 months ago or so, I ran into something similar which mostly manifested as
a periodic hang with high iowait times that would resolve itself in a half
hour or so. This would mostly affect those who are constantly working off
of fileshares -- opening spreadsheets directly from the share, etc.
I eventually "resolved" by downgrading to a 4.9
