Samba pdc with ldap & samba3-3.0.25c-34 on CentOS 5
Hi all,
I had been running a Samba pdc using the standard tdbsam backend on
CentOS 4.5 supporting 20+ WinXPsp2 workstations and a Win2k3 Terminal
Server. This set up was running fine for arroung 18 months maybe more.
The above system was built on ageing hardware that used to be a Win 2k
server that died from OS corruption.
Due to the expanding client needs there was good reason to replace

VSS on samba
We have recently moved our VSS database from windows 2k to samba,
initially all looked fine but have come accross a problem.
Quite often VSS complains saying it can't write to "names - acess denied".
The file its refering to is names.dat in data/ (for those that know VSS)
I believe this to be some sort of locking issue. Sometimes getting all
other clients to quite VSS solves the

hungarian chars
hi, I have a Win2k with a shared folder named with a lot of hungarian
characters. I tried to smbmount this folder, but this doesn't work:
#in smb.conf:
character set =3D ISO8859-2
client code page =3D 852
valid chars =3D =E1:=C1
The foldername isn't correct.
Can anyone help me? I hope you understand what I mean.

Yes, but ... Peer review among journals is uneven, especially for
those from private for-profit publishers. And even for top flight

Wine 0.9.7 failure report: hungarian tax software
Hi,
I wanted to try Wine whether it was capable of running "Abev",
the official hungarian tax software.

Main installer is: http://www.apeh.hu/cgi-bin/pil2006.pl?abev2006telep.exe
and one has to install at least one tax form type for this software to
be usable.
Choose one of the numbered tax form installers, e.g.:

Plotting data on a US County Map
Hi,
I have a data frame listing US counties and a quantity ("number") per county
and I have a shapefile of the US with county ID's. I would like to plot the
"number" variable on a map (in the shapefile) using a color range per county
(e.g. white = min(number) = 2, black = max(number) = 15). Can anyone help me
actually plotting the data on the map? This is how far I got.

Hungarian codepage problem using smbmount
Dear Samba Developers, Dear Urban,
This was my original letter. I hope you get it correctly this time.
Maybe it was too big, now I reduced the size of this letter.
My goal is to make a Linux fileserver up and running with automatic
archiving functionality in a mixed Windows 2000 - Linux network and
since the beginning of February I could not solve my problem, so I
write to you hoping that you

downloading only specific directories from directory tree
1. You don't appear to be including anything that is within the colon
dirs so they are being left out by --prune-empty-dirs.
2. Includes only override excludes that follow them. Since your debug
excludes are exceptions to the openSUSE_Leap_42.2/*** include they must
be before it not after it.

Graphically show population density for a specific geographic area using R
Hi,
we all know that R is powerful in dealing with graphics.
I am now trying to use R to show some geographic attributes for a
specific geographic area on a graph. For example, if I would like to
generate a graph showing the population densities (in terms of the
intensity of colors) for Illinois State by zip codes. I did some
research; and it seems that package "maptools" is

Thank you for your answer, Kevin.
2. OK, I understand.
1. I checked colon dirs, and indeed they don't have openSUSE_Leap_42.2
dirs directly. But they have different subdirs which have
openSUSE_Leap_42.2 dirs. What would be the correct filter set
to mirror all openSUSE_Leap_42.2 dirs at any level if I don't want
to include all dirs at the root level? At the roor level tehre are
many dirs

Dear Kevin:
~ 1 year ago your answer helped me to solve my problem.
This time I would like to do a similar thing but little bit modified.
I read again carefully INCLUDE/EXCLUDE PATTERN RULES section of rsync
manual but still cannot comprehend every part of it.
I understand I have to add include patterns first and exclude patterns
second. But it is not clear if I have to add all the include

regression output to latex
hello everybody
i was seeking a converter beetween R regression output (eg with
summary) and the conventional way to present regression output in
paper: every model as a vertical vector with \beta, t beetween
parenthesis below the first, and other statistics (R^2 etc) .
I've seen hmisc and xtable, and if I didn't miss something, they
don't include something like that.
Thank you

downloading only specific directories from directory tree
An include only overrides an exclude that follows it. So, you would
need something like this:
+ */
+ openSUSE_13.2/***
- *
Then add --prune-empty-dirs to your rsync command line. I left off the
initial ** because it doesn't really mean anything unless openSUSE_13.2
isn't always the entire directory name in which case 1 * would do.
Another way to explain it is that by default

read.table missing values
I have experienced a similar problem when saving Excel data in this
format. When any of the variables, except the last, contained missing
values, there was not a problem. However, the problem occurred when the
last variable contained missing values. My guess is that the last
delimiter was left off? The "fill" option worked in my case. Use the
option with care and double check the
