R-2.0.0 Install problem for package bundle with inter-dependent n amespaces
I have a revised version of the gregmisc package, which I've converted into a package bundle each of which has a namespace: gplots, gmodels, gdata, gtoools. Of course, there are interdependencies among these namespaces: gsun374: /tmp [11]> cd gregmisc/ gsun374: gregmisc [12]> grep import */NAMESPACE gdata/NAMESPACE:importFrom(gtools, odd, invalid, mixedsort)

FW: Cent. Mov. Ave
I recently wrote a function to compute functions over moving windows. (See below). It varies from your request by using the last N points rather than the last N/2 and next N/2 points, so you may have to modify it to get what you want. It will be in the next gregmisc package, which will go out in a month or so when the publication review process here finishes. (I hate red tape!) -Greg

Proposal: 'global' package refactoring
Looking over the contents of various packages, including my own, it is clear that lots of things end up 'hidden away' in packages where they don't belong. My gregmisc package is a particularly egregious example, containing something from almost every functional category. I propose that from time to time the R community go through the complete set of packages and 'refactor'

xls2csv.pl: Script to translate Excel files into CSV
I've created a Perl script that translates Microsoft Excel (.xls) files into comma-delimited text files (.csv) using the Perl Spreadsheet::ParseExcel module. Usage ----- perl xls2csv.pl <excel file> [<output file>] [<worksheet number>] Translate the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file contained in <excel file> into comma separated value format (CSV) and store in

Enhanced heatmap, barplot functions
I've just uploaded gregmisc 0.8.6 to CRAN, it should show up in the package tree shortly. It contains both an enhanced barplot() [named barplot2 in my code] and an enhanced heatmap() function that I would like to see propagate to the base and mva packages respectively. I've checked the code for both functions against the code in R 1.8.1, and these functions have all of the latest

problems with plot.formula
With the recent changes in R 1.9.x, it is now impossible to properly call plot on a formula() where the formula is provided via a named first argument. On today's R-1.9.1-alpha: > x <- 1:10 > y <- rnorm(x,0.25) > > plot(x~y) > > plot(x=x~y) Error in terms.formula(formula, data = data) : argument is not a valid model > > plot(formula=x~y) Error in

install.packages and bundles
Hi All, Since I changed the gregmisc package into a bundle, I almost daily questions asking how to get the individual packages contained in the bundle. The standard example arises when someone attempts to install and then use my 'genetics' package which depends on the 'gdata' package contained within the 'gregmisc' bundle. The install succedes, but when the user does

gregmisc 1.11.2 including read.xls()
Release 1.11.2 of the gregmisc() package of functions is now available on CRAN at http://cran.r-project.org/src/contrib/Descriptions/gregmisc.html for both Unix and Windows systems. The most notable enhancement provided by this release is: - read.xls(), a function to read Microsoft Excel files by translating them to csv files via the xls2csv.pl script has been added. I've also provided
