about package e1071
Hi,
This is Yan from Temple University. I recently read a paper
about SVM and tried to apply it with some dataset in R. I
downloaded a zip file e1071_1.3-12.zip from CRAN and used R
menu to install it. It seemed that the package was installed
successfully. But I failed to load the package and a error
message 'Error in parse(file, n, text, prompt) : syntax error

I am running R on a iMac G5 with OS 10.4.
The file below (73 rows x 144 col) shows the values of a climatic
index on the globe with a grid of 2,5 ? x 2,5 ? (NA = no value):

Matching Caller ID against a database of knowncallers
Hi,
I use a simple script to query a 2 table's in a MySQL database. This is called using AGI.
The first one has got about 200 rows in it each one is a caller ID number and a name. If I get a match then I set CLI to "name <number>"
The second table has over 10,000 rows in it. It has all the telephone exchanges in the UK in it with the prefixes for the exchange. If I

RE: new packages: geepack and KMsurv
I downloaded geepack from your site and installed it from the zip file.
However, although it appears under my library directory, I could not load
into R.

movie3d in rgl object 'movie' not found
Hello,
I am trying to save a .gif movie using movie3d from the package {rgl}. I am
using the following code combined with the globe example on the ?movie3d
page. I've installed ImageMagick and the directory seems to be working
properly, i.e. when I do Sys.getenv("PATH"), C:\\Program Files
(x86)\\ImageMagick-6.7.0-Q16 shows up.

[artwork] Image for external links
Hi,
Can we use the same image for external links on the wiki as we are using
for Trac ? It is much less obtrusive in pieces of text.
A gray box with arrow instead of a colorful globe.

Creating a loop to read 3D dataset
Dear all,
I have in my possession a netcdf from which I want to extract some data files. I have used the "ncdf" package to read the netcdf file and used the "get.var.ncdf" function to identify the variable i wish to use. The data is in the form of a time-series of geographical data points that relate to climatology variables. As such I have a large data frame,

LLVM Social Guidelines
Hi folks,
At EuroLLVM we had a round table for organizers of LLVM Socials around the globe.
After the discussion we decided to get some sort of guidelines for those who want to organize the meetup in their city, but have any questions and don't know where to start.
Currently, I am creating the very first draft. Once it's in a good shape I will send it to the phabricator.
I am looking

Projecting data on a world map using long/lat
Hi,
I have a dataset (CSV) with some counts of firms located around the globe.
Each count is assigned to the longitude and latitude of the specific
location. Now I want to plot these counts on a world map using dots (size of
dots represent the count). I have been unable to find any info on whether
this is possible and if so, how? Can you please help me? Thanks!

Zaptel, Line Impedence and Echo
Hi,
I'm not sure if I just missed something somewhere along the way, but I
noticed while I was going through the CVS logs that there is an option
in the wcfxs module to set an "opermode" - which apparently might help
with echo issues around the globe (like the ones I'm seeing - some
times).
So I'd love to use it and give it a go. Apparently, there are some
options that

Caller ID with BT CD50
Hi All,
Having searched the archives, I can see there has been much discussion
at various points regarding capture of caller id information from good
old BT.
If I understand correctly, it seems that not only do the drivers not
currently support it, but my X101P possibly/probably can't do it anyway
due to hardware?
So, that leaves me with the modem route, which seems more and more
unlikely,
