GeoR model.control - defining covariates at prediction locations
Hi,
Im using geoR and I'm trying to do some predictions, based on an external
trend.
I'm having some problems specifying my model.control, specifically how do I
define my model, and also the source of the covariate data at the prediction
locations?
I am assuming that the covariate data at the prediction locations should be
imported to a geodata object along with the prediction location

Bayesian Block Kriging?
Hello,
I'm interested in doing Bayesian kriging using R. I see that the
package geoR has a function that will allow one to do this
(krige.bayes). However, my data are not in the form of points, but
rather they are blocks that represent spatial averages (i.e., the number
of fishing hooks per month in a given lat x long square). I am
therefore interested in treating the data as

Plotting a kriging on a map
Hi list,
Well, this time I’ve a doubt with mapping generation.
I was already able to read and plot shapefiles, plot point on this map. All
this without any problems, but now I want to do something that I think, only
Golden Software Surfer is capable of.
I would like to plot a kriging result on the existing map (map script
below). Well I looked for on the net, but I was not able to be sure of

geoR size limit problem
Hi all,
I tried to produce some kriged surfaces with geoR (latest version). The size
of the grid should be around 900 x 650 cells (what I find is not a very big
grid), and the number of points is around 2500. The command krige.conv
stopped after arround 5 min saying it can not allocate a vector with around
1.5 billion units. Sounds reasonable.
Is there a workaround? How would I partition the

Memory limitation in GeoR - Windows or R?
Dear Aaron,
I am really a tool user and not a tool maker (actually an ecologist
doing some biostatistics)... so, I take the liberty of sending a copy of
this e-mail to the r-help list where capable computer persons and true
statisticians may provide more relevant information and also to Paulo
Ribeiro and Peter Diggle, the authors of geoR..
I really feel that your huge matrix cannot be

Help with Kriging
R Experts,
I'm looking for some help with the geoR package. I'm trying to krig
some data without using a global neighborhood. I would like to set my
moving neighborhood to a distance, say 100 meters, where I know my data
is spatially correlated. I have tried the ksline function, but that
only allows my moving neighborhood to be set to a number of data points.
But, since my data

3-d kernel smooth by the "kde" function
Dear R community,
I'm having hard time to understand the kde function in "ks" package. Let me
use a 3-dimensional kernel smooth example to explain my question using the
elevation data in geoR.
### here is what I did ###
library(ks)
require(geoR)
data(elevation)
elev.df <- data.frame(x = elevation$coords[,"x"], y =
elevation$coords[,"y"], z = elevation$data)

Using geoR krige.conv
Hi,
I'm using the function krige.conv from package geoR but I'm getting a
warning that I do not understand:
Warning messages:
1: NaNs produced in: sqrt(variance)
2: NaNs produced in: sqrt(variance)
I'm performimg an ordinary kriging with a log transform (lambda=0).
Does anyone knows where this comes from ?
Thanks and regards

non-stationary covariance
Hi !
Sorry for my ignorance. I have two questions:
1) which is in R the function to make a covariogram of spatial data ?
2) does anyone know if there exist the possibility in R of performing
kriging with an arbitrary covariance function ?
If I have well understood the Krig procedure offers only three
possibilities (expcov, gauscov and sphercov) that are the common models
for stationary and

can't load "geoR"
Dear R list,
I've just installed R and then followed the instructions to install the
package "geoR" from within R by using the following line of code:
install.packages("geoR", contriburl = "http://www.est.ufpr.br/geoR/windows")
This installed okay under the folder C:\documents and settings\ ...
But when I follow the instructions in the illustrative session

bug in geoR (?)
I've enconuntered this problem with the last cran version of geoR:

kriging with geoR package
Hi all,
I have to draw a map of microorganisms repartition in a sample. I use the
"image" function of geoR package to build the map but there are three
problems:
1) the legend is Horizontal (with or without vert.leg=TRUE)
2) I want to plot the position of organisms and level curves of density on
the map but I don't find the script to insert these data on the map.

geoR question from new R user
Hi,
I'm a new R user. My goal is to do a variogram using geoR.
I started by trying to do the example in the geoR Illustrative Session
using my own data.
I am able to read in my Ascii data using: D <- matrix(scan("file.dat",
n=530*3), 530,3, byrow=TRUE).
Then I use: as.geodata(D, coords.col=1:2, data.col=3) to make the
object D geodata.
I check the descriptive statistics,

Strange error message from geoR´s likfit () lik. max. func.

I am geeting the error message

when I try to fit the geostatistical model with the likfit() function of
geoR.
I have tried with old data for which likfit() successfully maximised the
likelihood in previous versions of geoR, and yet the current version
fails.
I have tried in Windows Vista and Windows XP (I haven't

exporting rast from R to GRASS
Hi, everybody!
i created a imagem by kriging using geoR package. I imported points
from GRASS("zn", after converted to geodata "zn_geo"), the border
"zn_border" and a raster mask. Then i interpolated the points by
kriging and created a raster image. Now, i need export this image back
to GRASS to use it in the module r.mapcalc. I can't do it. I tried use

geoR variogram problem
Dear GeoR-er,
If I use the variog function in the latest release of geoR, the first lag is
always ignored.
For instance, if you read in geodata, calculates the variogram using the
variog function and give in a uvec like uvec=seq(0,max,by=2.44), it only
starts giving results from distance=4.88 and ignores 2.44!
This wasn't the case in former versions of geoR. Is this done on purpose?
Why?

geoR - likfit failure
Hi
I'm using geoR package to perform linear spatial interpolation(OK).
The function likfit() fails to compute REML.
The error meassage is : Error in solve.default(v$varcov, xmat);
How I can find out that likfit() is failed to process and retrieving the error message ?
Thank you so much for your help.

help with kriging interpolation
All,
I am new to using R and know some basics. I wish to use kriging in R to
do the following:
given data Y =f(X1,X2,X3,.....,Xn) --1000+ irregular measured data set.
I would like to be able to get a single value y given sinle input set
(x1,x2,x3,...xn)
A google search on this takes me lierally to the same example on involving
analysis with soil sampling and I cannot figure out how to

Beginner stucked with raster + geoR package.
Hello everyone.
I am trying to build up understanding in R by trying to develop just some simple
scenarios.
I would like to explain you what I am trying to do and what I did so far.
I would like to put inside a RasterLayer (raster package) a Gaussian field (for
given covariance) using grf function (geoR package)

spatial stats - geoR - variogram - standard deviation
Hello,
I am attempting to get the standard deviation in multiple distance bins in
my spatial data.
It appears as though the 'variog' command in the geoR package will do the
trick, as one of the outputs from 'variog' is 'variog$sd', which,
according to the manual, is the "standard deviation of the values in each
bin".
However, when I run this command, the
