Alternative mail archives?
I have no solution. However I wonder why the mail archives at https://www.stat.math.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/ are not searchable by Google. That would perhaps be a solution otherwise, since you can restrict Google to search within just one site. (This applies to some other search engines too.) Since I am also interested in the possibility to search the archive I have just sent a question to

Changing ComputerModern in postscript(...): A first attempt at contributing....
Hi First off, thanks to all the various R developers, your package is very impressive. I'm not sure what the protocols are for contributing, and I've not done this before, so please excuse nay obvious errors or oversights... Also I'm by no means an R,TeX/LaTeX, or typesetting expert, I have largely stumbled my way to this point. Objective: I'd like to get R postscript(...) to

adding text in (pair) panels (splom)
Hi, I would like to add text in each panel got from the following: splom(~Cs5bis, panel=function(x,y,...){ panel.xyplot(x,y,...) panel.abline(lm(y~x),...) }) This could be a correlation coefficient or the statistical significance of the correlation or both, or a star if p < 0.05, etc... The function text() is useless (probably because I cannot pass appropriates coordinates in each panel).

RMySQL's column limit
Dear R-users, First, thank you to the developers for the very useful R-library RMySQL. While using this library a recieved an error message: RS-DBI driver: (could not run statement: Too many columns) The statement that generated the error was: dbWriteTable(dbcon, "simdataseries", template, overwrite = TRUE, row.names = FALSE ) I am assuming this is a RMySQL rather than MySQL limit.

An empty grey diagram
Hi folks, Win7 64bit R 1.12.0 I run following command on R:- > ToothGrowth > attach(ToothGrowth) > plot(dose,len) > matrics=lm(len~dose) > abline(metrics) Error in int_abline(a = a, b = b, h = h, v = v, untf = untf, ...) : plot.new has not been called yet Only a grey diagram is displayed without content > plot(abline(metrics)) Error in int_abline(a = a, b = b, h = h, v

describe scope
Hi, Googling ''RSpec describe scope'' didn''t yield much, so apologies if this question has been dealt with. It seem well known that a ruby class is ''visible'' between describes, and if this is a problem then you should use some counter as prefix or suffix: ''class Item_001; ... end'' Is there any work underway, or sheduled release where

base::format adds extraneous whitespace for some inputs
Dear R Core Team, First of all, thank you for your amazing work on developing and maintaining this wonderful language. I just stumbled upon the following behavior in R version 3.6.0: format(9.91, digits = 2, nsmall = 2) format(9.99, digits = 2, nsmall = 2) yield "9.91" and " 9.99" with an extraneous whitespace. My expected output for the second command is

A question on the abline function
Dear whom it may concerns, I am Jia Xu, a summer intern analyst at Citi Research. I am also a graduate student studying Financial Engineering at Cornell. I am running regression analysis with Rstudio now. I have been experiencing difficulty with the abline function. No matter I call it directly in linear regression or call it through residual plots, or plot results from lasso regression, it

qqline function doesn't plot
I have a data vector x. When I try qqline(x) I get the following error: Error in int_abline(a = a, b = b, h = h, v = v, untf = untf, ...) : plot.new has not been called yet And a blank plot appears. Can anybody help? What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Scotty _________________________________________________________________ Contest [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

abline with xyplot does not work
I am trying to plot the results of a random effects model where each subject is allowed to have his, or her, own intercept. I use xyplot to plot the data, lme to compute the regression and then try to put a summary regression line on the xyplot. As can be seen by the output pasted below, I am getting an error message, Error in int_abline(a = a, b = b, h = h, v = v, untf = untf, ...) : (list)

weird behavior of nsmall in format

HTML nsmall vector format problem
Hello All I am having a bit of trouble formatting my HTML with the desired number of digits after the decimal place. Am I doing something wrong/misunderstanding or is it a bug? Looking at the example supplied with ?HTML.data.frame: HTML(iris[1:2,1:2],nsmall=c(3,1),file="") Gives html output that includes the lines: </tr> <tr><td

problem with log axis
Hello, if I do: x <- c(0.5,1,3,6,10,20,40) y <- 10-log(x)+rnorm(7,0,0.05) r1 <- lm(y ~ log(x)) plot(log(x),y) abline(r1) # I get a nice plot with the regression line almost over the points. but: plot(x,y,log="x") abline(r1) gives me exactly the same plot for the points but the regression line is completely off ! I would like the plot with the real values of X on

Problems in plotting with abline
Dear R-users, I am using R(a package igraph) to calculate certain topological features of networks. When I try to draw a plot between these features I get an error. Following is the code I am using : *> plot(met_eco_deg,met_eco_bet) > lmout<-lm(met_eco_bet ~ met_eco_deg) > abline(lmout) Error in int_abline(a = a, b = b, h = h, v = v, untf = untf, ...) : plot.new

Plotting multiple ablines
I really want to do this: abline( a=tan(-kT*pi/180), b=kY-tan(-kT*pi/180)*kX ) where kX,kY and kT are vectors of equal length. But I can't do that with abline unless I use a loop, and I haven't figured out the least unelegant way of writing the loop yet. So is there a way to do this without a loop? Or if I am to resort to the loop, what's the best way of doing it considering that I

A horizontal or vertical line draw on mosaic plot?
Hi, I want to have a horizontal line on a mosaic plot with "vcd" package. This would give me an idea where is 0.5 proportion in a cell. Using "mosaicplot" function of "graphics" package, I can draw a line using "abline." But, with "mosaic" function of "vcd" package, I have tried to use "abline" function, which complains

abline and log plots (PR#1243)
Full_Name: Stephen Eglen Version: 1.4 OS: Redhat Linux 7.1 Submission from: (NULL) (128.252.204.36) abline() produces a spurious line in addition to the correct line, at least with the X11 driver. The postscript file generated also has nan values in it, which causes an error under ghostscript. xs <- c(0, 150, 300) ys <- c(75, 40, 23) par(mfrow=c(1,2)) plot(xs,ys, log="")

log-transformed linear regression
Hello, I have a basic question. Sorry if it is so evident.... I have the following data file : http://ekumen.homelinux.net/mydata.txt I need to model Y~X-1 (simple linear regression through the origin) with these data : load(file="mydata.txt") X=k[,1] Y=k[,2] aa=lm(Y~X-1) dev.new() plot(X,Y,log="xy") abline(aa,untf=T) abline(b=0.0235, a=0,col="red",untf=T)

how to remove rows in which 2 or more observations are smaller than a given threshold?
Hello The data set I am examining has 7425 observations (rows with unique identifiers) and 46 samples(columns). I have been trying to generate a dataset that filters out observations that are "negligible" The definition of "negligible" is absolute value less or equal to 1.58. The rule that I would like to adopt to create a new data is: drop rows in which 2 or more
