upgrading rails to 1.2.2 giving me mongrel errors
I''m working on upgrading to rails 1.2.2 from 1.1.6 and getting the mongrel error below in development mode. Now things seem to work fine with 1.1.6and 1.2.2 (in prod mode). Any ideas what might cause this? Googling gave me very little to work with. This was the closest thing i found http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/6716 I''m running Ubuntu with mongrel 1.0.1 and fastthread

[AAF] remote indexing via DRb with acts_as_ferret
Hi! Aaf trunk has undergone several major refactorings the last days, with the result that you can now transparently switch your app from local to remote indexing and back :-) If you plan to scale your app to more than one physical machine, or if you have problems with corrupted indexes and the like under high load, you really should give this a try. I wrote some documentation to get you

acts_as_ferret with Mongrel and Edge Rails
Hi there, Has anyone tried acts_as_ferret with Edge Rails and Mongrel? When I install the plugin to a project that has Edge Rails frozen, and the Mongrel gem installed, I can''t start the server. There''s no error, it just doesn''t start. I''ve used acts_as_ferret in the past with WEBrick, and stable Rails releases without a hitch. If I remove the

Ferret and Godaddy.com
Ok, first up, I''m a Rails newbie. My site is hosted on godaddy.com Godaddy has the Ferret GEM installed by default. They do not have acts_as_ferret installed so I can''t use that. I''m trying to follow the tutorial on the Ferret wiki http://ferret.davebalmain.com/trac/wiki It includes all of the code I need, but it doesn''t tell

acts_as_taggable_on environment issues
Like most people, I''ve got two machines: one for development and one for production. I''ve done everything I can to make sure the ruby/rails environments are the same, but of course they''re not identical (I''ll get into that in a moment). The error that I''m getting happens when I call a method in a background task controller on the production machine; I

ferret finds ''tests'' but not ''test''
Hello all, Quick question (possibly!) - I''ve got a few records indexed and doing a search for ''test'' reports in no hits even though I know the word ''tests'' exists in the indexed field. Doing a search for ''tests'' produces a result. I would have thought that ''test'' would match ''tests'' but no such

Mongrel won''t start
I have a win xp box running instant rails. I installed ferret (the win version) and acts_as_ferret seemingly succesfully. I then added "require ''acts_as_ferret''" to the environment.rb file of my project. However, I cannot get webrick/mongrel to start. Can anyone suggest a solution? DRbConnError when using script/runner
I am running ferret (0.11.4) and acts_as_ferret (stable from svn) in a rails 1.2.3 app in production using the DRb server. I recently upgraded my configuration and the method with which I start and stop the server no longer works: Here is the command I would like to use (and have used in the past) to start the aaf server: $ /Library/WebServer/rails/ccdb/current/script/runner -e production

DRb server & aaf gem
I''m having problems getting the DRb server running with the aaf gem. I tried it with the plugin installed in my application, and it worked. I suspect the problem has something to do with the startup scripts expecting certain files to be in certain relative file paths. Any insights are appreciated, and maybe if you have time you can update the wiki document :) Thanks for a great

[ActsAsFerret] OpenSolaris (TextDrive) indexing issues
Gents, I successfully installed AAF on my TextDrive OpenSolaris Container, but I''m having some issues with indexing. I have a model called Blogs which has AAF enabled. The first time I tried to find_by_contents for a ''word'' I know was on the Database I got now results. Apparently the index was not ready yet. Then I waited a few hours and checked that the /index

Is aaf multi_search broken?

Ferret 0.11.1-rc2
Hey guys, Just released Ferret 0.11.1. Hopefully this will fix *most* of the problems people were having. Now that I know gcc hides stack overflows on Ubuntu because -fstack-protector is set, I won''t get caught by that one again. Anyone know any other gotchas I should be aware of on Ubuntu. Please try the new version and let me know if you are still having problems with it. I have until

Problem w/ routes.rb
I am trying to develop a new webapp using Rails 1.2.1. I am installing it onto a production web server running Apache w/ fastcgi. The server already has some older webapps running on it using an older version of Rails. The apps are not installed in the document root; they each have their own subdirectory which is a symlink for the apache document root to the "public" directory of each

uninitialized constant ActiveSupport::Cache (NameError)
Hi After having updated some GEMS I get `load_missing_constant'': uninitialized constant ActiveSupport::Cache (NameError) on starting the server of a freshly generated rails project. Before, I already had Rails 2.3.2 projects succesfully running, now all of them generate this error. These are my GEMS: actionmailer (2.3.2, 2.2.2, 2.1.2, 2.1.1, 2.1.0) actionpack (2.3.2, 2.2.2, 2.1.2,
