Deleting voicemail by program
Here is something I wrote years ago. I expect you can adjust it for your
needs
# cat remove_blank_vmail
#!/bin/bash
# remove_blank_vmail takes arguments as voicemail boxes and removes
messages with audio files shorter then MINSIZE (in bytes)

Another question, unfortunately. . . .(Installing "foreign"/trying to import/export SAS files)
I have downloaded R--no problem there. Unfortunately, I have run into a
second problem.
I am trying to use read.ssd and then read.xport (to get a SAS data set).
I have imported the package "foreign" according to instructions (
options(CRAN="http://cran.us.r-project.org/") and
install.packages("foreign") ), but when I do so and then use either
read.ssd or read.xport I

I am totally lost on how to install R . . .
First . . . SUBSCRIBE (I want to subscribe to the list).
Second, I am trying to install R on windows XP. In looking at the
instruction manual I get the following:
The simplest way is to use 'rw1081.exe' or 'miniR.exe'. Just
double-click on the icon
and follow the instructions. If you installed R this way you can
uninstall it from the Control Panel.
How do I get the

smbfs: intermittent failures when accessing W2K server
I think I am experiencing a problem with samba 2.2.8 and kernel 2.4.20.
I am using these versions on a number of computers in a render farm. These
(Linux) computers use smbfs to access a Windows 2000 file server.
Two things that I notice:
1) The rendering application (Maya) fails due to a failure to access files on
the file server when first run after the Linux machine is started.

Deleting voicemail by program
Hi all,
I need to be able to delete a voicemail message using a program.
Is is sufficient to simply delete the .wav and .txt files in the spool directory?
Or do I need to also renumber the remaining files?
For example, let say a given mailbox has 20 messages in it and I want to
delete message number 5. Can I just delete the 2 files and expect that
asterisk will renumber them? Or do I

The netfilter code had very good documentation: the Netfilter Hacking
HOWTO. Noone ever read it.
So this time I'm trying something different, using a bit of

alas, no vecnorm
I wanted a function that would give the euclidean distance of a vector.
Then I was happy, because I found vecnorm listed on pg 55 of V&R (3rd
edn) which I had just bought today.
Then I was sad, because R did not have vecnorm.
Then I was happy again, because I bethought myself that I could copy the
function vecnorm from splus to my code.
Then I was sad again because R complained

Has anyone gotten KDiff3 to work on CentOS 4.X?
The Subject: line says it all. I haven't been able to find a KDiff3
RPM (http://kdiff3.sourceforge.net) that will install on CentOS 4,
and I am also having problems building it from source (the
application that is, not the RPM). I have some users who really want
to use KDiff3, so any help/hints are appreciated.
Thanks,
Alfred

Gotten getent to work but uid off by 1
I have gotten getent to work, but now the uid for files are off by one and
some of the gid are off by 4 to 24. So if I copy from one system to another
the file ownerships get changed all up.
Any work around for this?
idmap uid = 10000-20000
idmap gid = 10000-20000

Anyone gotten qemu to operate in bride network mode on centos 4
I have been asking on the qemu list how to get bridge network mode
working under centos 4... To no avail.
The following script is what I have tried as my /etc/qemu-ifup. It
supposedly worked for fedora.
#!/bin/sh
#
# qemu_up
#
# script to bring up the tun device in QEMU in bridged mode
#
# This script bridges eth0 and tap0. First take eth0 down, then bring it up with IP 0.0.0.0

Things have gotten pretty quiet
Has the virtualization hooks work moved to another e-mail list? (Or
maybe an IRC channel?)
I've been meaning to actually help, but I've gotten distracted. Is there
some specific area/set-of-files I can try to help with? I don't want to
duplicate effort.

Slightly OT: Has SILK codec gotten anywhere?
Hi, I stumbled upon mentions of a "SILK" codec last night on skypes
"skype for sip" information page. I tried looking into it further and
found some blog and mailing list posts from 2009 but I can't find any
mentions of anything other than skype using the codec. Has the codec
not gotten anywhere so far?

Tivo Desktop 2.1 - Anyone gotten this to work?
Searched the archives, and other then some discussion in March that
ended with a log posting, I haven't seen anything on this. The Tivo
Desktop software is the one thing that keeps me in a Windows world,
and I'd REALLY like to move back to Linux :-)
I'm familiar with JavaHMO and their replacement, Galleon. But while
those allow you to copy shows to a Linux system, you can't play

Anyone ever gotten Solaris to install from a CentOS PXE server?
Yes and PXE booting the node worked just fine. It was quite some time ago and the process was rather straightforward. This is for x86_64
