Linux installation problem
Hello everyone, I downloaded the latest Linux version of R and tried installing it, but during the installation process I found that this version of R requires tcl 8.3 and tk 8.3. The problem is that I've been unable to find Linux versions of tcl 8.3 and tk 8.3. The only Linux versions of tcl/tk I've been able to find are 8.4. Has anybody been successful in getting R to install on

tcltk installation problem in R (Mac OS X version)
Hi all, I just installed R on my Mac OS X machine and wanted to installed tcl/tk. So, I installed tcl/tk from this page: http://cran.r-project.org/bin/macosx/tools/ It gets placed in /usr/local dir. and then I installed R. Next, in R, I set the TCL_LIBRARY variable by saying Sys.setenv(TCL_LIBRARY="/usr/local/lib/tcl8.5") and Sys.setenv(TK_LIBRARY="/usr/local/lib/tk8.5") But

[Re: tcltk loading in R-2.2.1 from src]
Hi, I believe configure was not finding tk.h, because tk-devel rpm was not available on the given host. Thanks Erik and Peter for the suggestions on checking tk.h and stdout of ./configure. Just one further question for Peter> "Well, the package is there, as a stub to tell you that it doesn't work...." So then how can you confirm from the library() output (or elsewhere) if

compiling error R-2.4.0
Hi there, I am trying to install from the source R-2.4.0 on my mac (osx 10.4.8 G5 DP) The error imply Tcl/Tk. I install it by all the way I know: darwinport, the Tcl/Tk package from the dmg available from CRAN but without success. The PATH is correct. tclConfig.sh is localised in /opt/local/lib and have those permission: -rw-r--r-- 2 root admin 7K Oct 9 09:49 tclConfig.sh Here is

[R-SIG-Mac] Starting tcltk without Tk
It turns out that the behavior of starting just Tcl was actually a bug. Apparently the intention was to attempt to start Tk regardless of the DISPLAY variable, because some TclTk implementation such as Aqua Tcl/Tk don't require DISPLAY and thus would not be loaded. Due to a bug (HAVE_AQUA was not included in Rconfig.h before R 2.7.0), though, this was not the case. I'll leave it

[PATCH] remove a duplicate tk function definition (and alphabetize)
'tkcoords' is defined twice (in the same way) in src/library/tcltk/R/Tk.R. Attached is a patch against r63780 that removes the duplicate definition and alphabetizes the functions. I've read that minor patches such as this should be sent to r-devel [1]. Scott [1] http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lang.r.devel/33987 -- Scott Kostyshak Economics PhD Candidate Princeton

Tcl/Tk on Panther
It used to be sufficient to configure R with configure --enable-R-shlib --with-tcl-config=/Library/Frameworks/Tcl.framework/tclConfig.sh --with-tk-config=/Library/Frameworks/Tk.framework/tkConfig.sh --with-blas='-framework vecLib' --with-lapack --with-aqua but for some reason this does get Tcl/Tk support build in Panther (batteries included version of Aqua Tcl/Tk, but observe

Installing R on Red Hat Linux, Tcl/Tk
Hi, I've been trying to install R on Red Hat Linux 9 for some potential users of my R/TclTk application. I tried using the rpm for R 1.7.1 for Red Hat Linux 9. It told me that I needed: libtcl8.3.so so I looked for a binary release of Tcl 8.3.x on http://www.tcl.tk/software/tcltk/8.3.html but found that the link to the Tcl 8.3.x binaries pointed to ActiveTcl 8.4.x . I couldn't see

Off topic: Tcl/Tk outside R.
I'm trying to learn about the tcltk package and its uses. Floundering around a bit ... Have discovered Peter Dalgaard's articles in R-News, which should help. Also James Wettenhall's suite of examples look like they might be enlightening, even though the indications are that they are Windoze oriented. Be that as it were, I decided to fool around a bit with Tcl/Tk *outside* of R to

Update on: Installing the Rcmdr and tclk package
Hello R-users, first thanks to all who responded my questions regarding the installation of the Rcmdr and tcltk packages. The problem is with the tclk package on which Rcmdr depends. Following Prof Ripley's advice I re-installed Tcl and Tk, compiling from sources and making sure the "--enable-64bit" option of their configure was set and setting the environment variable

Problem loading Tcl/Tk (?)
Hello, a user of one of my packages has sent me the following problem that apparently appears when loading the tcltk package. I'm guessing something (Tcl/Tk? R open scripting framework?) is not installed correctly... can someone please confirm or correct my guess? The OS is Mac 10.6.5.
