data structure problem
HI, there, I have a data set with special structure. It is in n*(5*p): n is the number of observations or data points 5*p is the matrix for each data point I'd like to conduct discriminant analysis to this data set. How could I do? And where could I find related references to solve this problem? Thanks a lot! Jieping Zhao PhD student in Bioinformatics, NCSU Lab

Samba 3.0.3 on FC2: windows machine cannot join domain
I'm using Samba 3.0.3 on Fedora Core 2 with OpenLDAP 2.1.29 for a backend. I'm getting to typical "The user name could not be found." error upon trying to join a Windows box. I've gone through every digest on lists.samba.org and other sites and nothing has worked yet. Any suggestions: Here's what I've done so far: 1. Installed everything via RPMS: [root@smbtest

[net-next RFC PATCH] virtio_net: collect satistics and export through ethtool
Satistics counters is useful for debugging and performance optimization, so this patch lets virtio_net driver collect following and export them to userspace through "ethtool -S": - number of packets sent/received - number of bytes sent/received - number of callbacks for tx/rx - number of kick for tx/rx - number of bytes/packets queued for tx As virtnet_stats were per-cpu, so both

Re: Samba 3.0.3 on FC2: windows machine cannot join domain
After, oh, six months of attempts here and there to read everyone's experiences with Samba/LDAP and inability for a windows 2000/XP machine to join the domain, I finally discovered what was not working properly. In my smb.conf I put: add machine script = /usr/local/sbin/smbldap-useradd -w "%u" As instructed by many How-to's and Idealx. However, I thought to myself, %m

yam at ftp.linux.ncsu.edu
I had yam working with ncsu.edu until the things changed when centos seperated the two projects. Now I can't get it to work. This is what I am trying to use but it says "nothing to do". updates = rsync://ftp.linux.ncsu.edu/centos/$release/$repo/$arch/RPMS/ This with gatech on the other hand works but they have a 20 connection limit so I would like to get ncsu.esu working again.

Re: Debugging Xen via serial console
Hi, kdb: to debug xen hypervisor, could also debug guests gdbsx: to debug PV/HVM linux guests The tree is : http://xenbits.xensource.com/ext/debuggers.hg See README-dbg. You''ll need to setup serial access for kdb. Thanks, Mukesh > > Hi Dan, > > I''m currently using your version of ssplitd as it is. I haven''t tried > kdb. For some reason I

Question about trellis graphs
Dear List Members I'm using R to create a trellis plot using the library of Pinheiro & Bates (trellis graph for grouped data). Here is my question: How can I change the format of the axis (x or y) in terms of the number decimal points that should appear on the plot? In other words, I have that for a set of plots in the y-axis the values appear as 0.2,0.3, etc and for another set they

64 Bit R Background Question
Hi, I've collected quite a bit of elevation data (LIDAR elevation points) and am looking for a suitable platform to do analysis and modeling on it. The data is sitting in an Oracle database, one table, 200 million rows of x,y, and z. I'm trying to figure out what hardware resources we need to reserve in order to run 64 BIT R for this size data. Here's my question: Is the 64 BIT

Syslinux patch
Out of necessity, a friend of mine and I have created a patch for syslinux to allow it to modify the mbr and partition table in windows. It adds a -m option to syslinux. If given, it will overwrite the MBR of the drive specified with the mbr.bin provided in syslinux, and if the bootable flag is not set on the partition being syslinuxed, it will set it. This was done to distribute with my USB

optim function : "BFGS" vs "L-BFGS-B"
Dear kind R-experts. Does anybody have an experience to use optim function? If yes, what is the main difference between two method "BFGS" vs "L-BFGS-B"? I used "BFGS" method and got what I wanted. But when I used "L-BFGS-B" the error message said that "L-BFGS-B needs finite values of fn". So that means "BFGS" method can handle even if fn

How to assign a rank to a range of values..

There are many cells with a low drainage area (in my case, 33000 with an area of 37.16) and one cell with the highest drainage area (again, in my case, a drainage area of of

No PCMCIA Support?
I see that the ext3 kernel being used is an enterprise kernel which doesn''t build the PCMCIA modules generally. Any chance of getting the SRPM so that testing on a laptop can actually be possible? It''s too much fun to have a laptop and just hit the power button and not have to fsck:) Jeremy -- Jeremy Katz katzj@linuxpower.org | jlkatz@eos.ncsu.edu http://linuxpower.org |
