How to calculate standard error for a vector?
Hi all!
I 'm beginner and i develop a bio-application with VB and i need some
statistic functions!
could i calculate StdError, CoeffOfVariance, SumSquared with R langage? if
yes, what are functions to use?
I need also to use ANOVA and t-test...
Thanks for your help!

simtest for Dunnett's test
Hi!
I use simtest fonction of multcomp package to compile a Dunnett's test.
I have 10 treatments and one control group, so i create a matrix with:

Normality Test on several groups
Hi,
I use ks.test or lillie.test to verify a normal distribution. It's performed
for a group
My users use SigmaStat software and a One Way ANOVA on several groups
In the result page there is a probability value to determine if Normality
test is failed or passed
So, how can i retrieve this probability value on several groups?
Is there another function in R to verify normality on several

How to get Dunnett's table value?
Hi,
I want to retrieve a value in the Dunnett's tables.
I know the comparisons type, the percent of level, the number of traitments
and the degrees of freedom.
Is there a function to retrieve this value with this?

how to (combine / recode / merge) two factor.
Hi,
I have a data frame with two factors, and I would like to create a new
one by "combining" them.
I have already a solution, but it is very "heavy", and I'm sure there is
a basic function which can do the same.
I tried to find it in the R-help, but without result.
See the example :
# just to create a dataframe
f1 <- factor(rep(c("A","B"),3))

About the number of channels
Is it possible to encode/decode more than 2 channels (stereo) stream
with Speex ?
We are currently recording one,two or four channels stream and we had to
customize an ADPCM codec for the four channels part.

User permissions on samba shared directories
Hi everybody,
I have successfully installed and configured Samba on my Aix box. I have setup domain security and mounted the machiine on the domain. I added a [homes] section and now everybody logging to their Windows 2000 workstations have access to their Aix home directory, what is great!
However, I have noticed by checking the home directory security for my user that there is THREE users |

variable number of variables in data frames
I would like to specify that certain columns in a data frame should be
treated as ordered factors. I know what numbers these columns are, but
not their names.
How do I do this?
For example, if I know columns 1:4 are to be treated as factors, I can
write
dat <- matrix(c(2,1,1,1, 1,1,1,1), 2, 4)
D <- as.data.frame(dat)
# force all variables to be treated as binary
# regardless of the small

REmove level with zero observations
If I have a column with 2 levels, but one level has no remaining
observations. Can I remove the level?
Had intended to do it as listed below, but soon realized that even though
there are no observations, the level is still there.
For instance
summary(dbs3.train.sans.influential.obs$HAC)
yields
0 ,1
4685,0
nlevels(dbs3.train.sans.influential.obs$HAC)
yields

Problem to remove loops in a routine
Dear R-users,
I have written the following code to generate some trellis plots. It
works perfectly fine except that it is quite slow when it is apply to my
typical datasets (over several thousands of lines). I believe the
problem comes from the loops I am using to subset my data.frame. I read
in the archives that the tapply function is often more efficient than a
loop in R. Unfortunately ,

I'm struggling with a little problem for a while, and I'm wondering if
anyone could help...

2 , B1
2 , B3
3 , B2

I would like to know how many brands are present in each store,
I tried:

Lattice 3d coordinate transformation
Hello List!
I asked this before (with no solution), but maybe this time... I'm
trying to project a surface to the XY under a 3d cloud using lattice.
I can project contour lines following the code for fig 13.7 in
Deepayan Sarkar's "Lattice, Multivariate Data Visualization with R",
but it fails when I try to "color them in" using panel.levelplot.

Wrong df in bartlett.test when subsetting data (PR#1124)
Full_Name: Jens Lund
Version: 1.3.1
OS: Windows
Submission from: (NULL) (194.239.194.210)
When we subset a dataset bartlett.test does not calculate the df correctly:
X <- rnorm(50) # Generate simulated samples
f <- gl(10,5) # Generate a factor with 10 levels and
# 5 replications of each level
# Works correctly
bartlett.test(X,f) # Correct number of df = 9

vis.gam() contour plots
Greetings,
I have what I hope is a simple question. I would like to change my
contour interval on the vis.gam( plot.type="contour") in the mgcv
package. Is this a situation where I need to modify the function or is
there a default value I can change?
Thanks

Error in using nlevels in apply function
Dear R users,
I am currently trying to create my first personnal function and use it
with the apply function. The purpose of this function is to create a
vector summarizing the number of levels in a given selection of
data.frame columns.
I tried to transpose the indexation method used by the nlevels function
but it doesn't seem to work. I did not find anything uesful in the
